I Outworked the Entire Cultivation World-Chapter 200 - 172: Betrayal
Half a month later, Moh Baichun restored his condition, and Jiang Yuebai took the agreed items from the Mountain and Sea Building. After disguising themselves, the two took the Flying Core Boat and headed together to the deep mountains at the westernmost part of the Chaotian Domain.
In the deep of the night, the mountains on Broken Soul Ridge stretched endlessly, perpetually shrouded in dense miasma.
Jiang Yuebai and Moh Baichun were both dressed as male in black attire. Moh Baichun wore a Puppet Mask, completely disguising himself as a Late-Stage Foundation Establishment male cultivator. On their way, they encountered several patrol cultivators from the Hundred Yang Sect but did not reveal their disguise.
"The miasma here is different from the one in the Ten Thousand Poison Forest. Xue Liuzhi added something to it. I will blow away this miasma, and you steer the Flying Core Boat down this mountain; that direction leads to the Hundred Poison Mystery Pond."
In the sky above Broken Soul Ridge, Moh Baichun stood at the bow of the Flying Core Boat, pointing out the direction to Jiang Yuebai.
After speaking, Moh Baichun pulled out a palm-sized wooden frog from his sleeve.
Ribbit~
With a croak, the wooden frog jumped from Moh Baichun’s hand to the bow of the boat, gulping and inhaling like a whale drawing in water, its belly rapidly swelling.
Ribbit!
The wind howled fiercely, with flying sand and stones. The miasma on the mountain ridge was instantly blown apart, revealing a landscape of unknown poisonous flowers blooming passionately.
Jiang Yuebai sat cross-legged at the bow, concentrating fully on steering the Flying Core Boat, its escape speed like electricity, skimming over the landscape of poison flowers.
The bright moon in the sky and red pollen spread through the mountains like a long tail, trailing behind the Flying Core Boat.
The dense miasma, as if driven by some force, rolled after them.
"Faster!" Moh Baichun urged with a frown, glancing backwards as the miasma closed in.
Out of the corner of her eye, Jiang Yuebai saw the speed of the Flying Core Boat reaching its peak, finally rushing down the mountain ridge just as the miasma was about to engulf them. The scene before them suddenly opened up.
The miasma behind crashed into an invisible barrier, scattering with a roar.
Moh Baichun breathed a sigh of relief, "We finally got through."
The two jumped off the boat, Jiang Yuebai put away the Flying Core Boat and looked ahead at various-sized ponds scattered like stars, brilliantly colored.
Strange flowers and plants grew in clusters by the ponds, in a riot of colors.
Small insects glowed green like stars, giving the place a dreamlike quality.
Moh Baichun said, "Don’t be fooled by the beauty here; there are a hundred ponds of different sizes, each filled with different poisons. The bottom is littered with white bones, countless people have died there."
"How do we get across?" Jiang Yuebai asked.
"Wait for someone to come and take us."
As Moh Baichun spoke, he released a wooden bird.
Jiang Yuebai was puzzled, "Do you know Xue Liuzhi?"
"Not exactly. I have something he is interested in, and he will surely let us in," Moh Baichun confidently smiled.
Jiang Yuebai was even more puzzled, "If that’s the case, couldn’t you have come alone? Why bring me along?"
Moh Baichun glanced at her, "I’ve been paid to get the job done, so don’t ask questions you shouldn’t."
Feeling something was amiss, Jiang Yuebai cautiously reached out to Moh Baichun.
"Then give me my payment first, and I promise not to ask any more questions."
Moh Baichun chuckled, "Alright, alright, I’ll give it to you. I reckon you’re not the type to run away with the goods."
Immediately, Moh Baichun handed over the Sword Sky Puppet, Jade Scroll of the Silk Control Technique, and a thousand mid-grade Spirit Stones to Jiang Yuebai.
With the payment in hand, Jiang Yuebai turned the bracelet on her wrist, feeling much at ease, and stood quietly by the side.
Before long, Jiang Yuebai saw a figure appear from the depths of the Hundred Poison Mystery Pond. It was a seven or eight-year-old boy, flying slowly on a large lotus leaf.
As he approached, the boy jumped off the leaf, with dark circles under his eyes, purple lips, a pallid complexion with no blood, in shabby clothes, and barefoot, looking like a corpse.
Jiang Yuebai frowned slightly, sensing a faint breath of life from the boy, indicating he was not dead.
The boy first took a deep look at Jiang Yuebai, then turned to Moh Baichun and bowed, "Mr. Moh, my master invites you. Please follow me."
Moh Baichun nodded to Jiang Yuebai, and the two followed the boy onto the lotus leaf, crossing the Hundred Poison Mystery Pond and entering a secluded valley.
Black clouds covered the moon, the valley shrouded in darkness. The sight was filled with black decaying mud and bubbling mire, with a pungent smell filling the air. The surrounding trees twisted, with bizarre flora, resembling the Netherworld.
A small two-story building, built leaning against a millennia-old dead tree, stood in the depths of the valley. The outer wall was covered with withered vines, exuding an eerie Yin Qi.
Jiang Yuebai followed Moh Baichun, unable to resist asking softly, "Are you sure this place is where a healer lives, not a butcher?"
Moh Baichun replied, "Xue Liuzhi is a Poison Doctor, naturally not like usual Medical Cultivators."
Upon reaching the small building, Jiang Yuebai suddenly felt her scalp tighten, sensing a malicious gaze on her. She clenched her fists and looked towards the building, but a screen blocked the view, only a withered figure was visible.
The gaze quickly shifted away. Jiang Yuebai looked at Moh Baichun.
Moh Baichun frowned slightly, focusing intently inside, seemingly communicating with someone there through Divine Sense.
After several breaths, a hoarse voice sounded from inside, "Mutong, take this guest to rest."
Hearing this, Jiang Yuebai quickly said, "Elder Moh, my task is complete. I should leave first."
Before Moh Baichun could respond, Xue Liuzhi’s angry voice rang out, "Does this young friend refuse even a cup of hot tea for a guest? That is too discourteous, don’t you think?"
The Golden Core Master’s pressure, carrying a strange fragrance, surged over. Jiang Yuebai’s heart shook, preparing to resist with all her might, when Moh Baichun suddenly gripped her by the back of the neck.
A sensation like a steel needle piercing her skin came, and Jiang Yuebai’s eyes widened in horror, staring hard at Moh Baichun. She saw her rapid lip movements as she spoke a few words to her, before sinking completely into unconsciousness.
Moh Baichun supported the unconscious Jiang Yuebai, wiping away her disguise to reveal her true face to Xue Liuzhi inside.
"Old Monster Six Fingers, you see clearly, a delicate little girl, and also an Inner Sect Disciple of a Major Sect, with excellent qualifications. The payment for your consultation should be enough, right?"
Inside, Xue Liuzhi’s eyes shook slightly seeing Jiang Yuebai’s face, then he suddenly laughed, "This is interesting. Master Moh sent over someone I am quite satisfied with. Mutong, take her to the cave and give her a few doses of Soft Immortal Powder."
"Yes."
Mutong swiftly pushed over the lotus leaf, allowing Moh Baichun to place Jiang Yuebai on it and quickly leave with her.
"Master Moh, please come inside, and I will immediately treat you."
Moh Baichun gave Jiang Yuebai a sidelong glance and stepped into the house.
Mutong took Jiang Yuebai all the way to the deepest part of the valley, into a cave, where the cries of women and the wails of infants echoed continuously.
Once there, Mutong tensed up all over, found an empty cave to place Jiang Yuebai down, and trembling, retrieved two packets of medicine powder from his chest.
"I’m sorry, if I don’t listen to Master, I will die. I’m really sorry."
With tears and fear, Mutong murmured his apology and tremblingly brought the medicine powder to Jiang Yuebai’s mouth.
Boom!
A tongue of fire shot from Jiang Yuebai’s forehead, scaring Mutong into sitting heavily on the ground. He saw a red lantern hanging beside Jiang Yuebai, flames swirling furiously.
The unconscious Jiang Yuebai opened her eyes, pressing her neck as she slowly sat up, her lowered eyes harboring a covert intent to kill.
