Chapter 37: Humiliation (Part 2)

Silence.

For a moment, deathly silence filled the vast courtyard.

No one could say anything.

How could they?

In the entire history of the Friendly Games, it was a very rare occurrence for the Noble Representatives to fight one another. It was even rarer for one of them to lose mere seconds into the battle.

As such, this was a truly spectacular occurrence—enough to send shivers down anyone’s spine.

But... was it really that incredible?

Not exactly.

Arthur Netora Re Von Bleu was actually a decent fighter despite his size, but head-on combat wasn’t exactly his forte. He also didn’t seem very into the fight, and that was because of the immense mental damage that had been dealt to him before this battle.

He was extremely weak and easy to pick on by Richard.

Of course, not many people knew the exact details of the situation, so they simply assumed he was a genuine Noble Representative in top form, and Richard ended up beating him in seconds.

Then... just how powerful was Richard Lamperouge Von Blanc?!

"Hmph! There’s no need to get cocky just because you beat that pathetic fatso!" Jason Todod Von Vert yelled out as he tried his hardest to dispel the oppressive atmosphere that was beginning to gather and take form on the battlefield.

His ally, Liliana Winifred Vi Jaune, nodded in agreement, though she still looked nervous.

"He was clearly unprepared. You caught him off guard. Besides, that idiot seemed distracted throughout, so taking him down is no big deal."

They kept hurling words to diminish the value of Richard’s accomplishment.

However, the lad remained calm.

After they were done spewing their vitriolic words, now breathing heavily due to just how much they had yelled within the span of a few seconds, Richard finally parted his lips.

"Don’t get the wrong idea..."

He took a step forward, which caused them to instinctively take a step back.

"I am well aware that he was the weakest among you all. I took him down first because I didn’t want any of you to get to him first." Richard admitted, taking another step forward.

"H-huh?"

"So you admit that you picked on the weak, shameless bastard!"

Despite all the insults hurled at him, Richard remained unbothered. He maintained a stoic demeanor and kept moving forward. His calmness was unnerving, and it caused even some among the audience to feel a certain chill.

Then... he chuckled.

It was a dark, sinister burst of laughter.

"Hehe... You are right. I picked on that useless weakling before any of you could. Why, you might be wondering. Well... the answer is pretty simple."

With a cruel glint in his eyes, Richard stared at everyone present and made his declaration.

"I wish to eliminate all of you myself!"

"...?!"

There was mass silence for only a few seconds before a deluge of whispers burst forth from not only the participants but the audience as well.

A single individual was challenging three Noble Representatives who were not only older and more experienced than him, but two also had every intention to team up.

What was this suicidal move?!

However, Richard’s expression displayed absolute confidence in his victory.

He didn’t falter for even a second.

"Y-you bastard! You think you can win against us?!"

"Smelly brat! In your dreams!"

The Vert and Jaune duo instantly charged at him, their fierce expressions oozing hints of terrifying bloodlust. They held a strong determination to crush this fraud of an opposition and put him in his place.

After all, wasn’t this the person who had awakened the most basic of Principal Dispositions?

He was nothing in the face of their combined might.

’We’ll push you to the edge and force you to awaken your Principal Disposition!’ Jason grinned wickedly as he glared at Richard.

His ally, Liliana, was also thinking along those lines, her eyes bloodshot.

’We’ve been practicing our teamwork for a very long time, ever since we were little kids. You stand no chance of defeating two of us at once!’ She beamed.

Everyone participating in this event was well aware of the rules.

Since this was a friendly spar meant to display the capabilities of the fighters involved, resorting to any kind of external aid was banned.

As such, Mystic Objects could not be used—whether for defense or offense.

However, Principal Dispositions were different.

Since they were wielded by the Disposition Holder, they were technically a part of their individual capabilities. Hence, those who opted to use Principal Dispositions were not stopped from pursuing this route.

But who would dare expose their Principal Disposition so brazenly?

Noble Families knew better than to do this.

They would often hide the Principal Dispositions of their prospects until they entered the Academy, which was where most of the political battles took place.

Children were used as chess pieces by their respective households to fish for benefits and attack the opposition. The Academy was its own battlefield, so it made sense that the Nobles would reserve the special abilities of their pawns until the perfect moment.

However—

’Thanks to this assumption, no one will predict the use of any Principal Disposition... which is why it will be extremely effective if I use it!’ Liliana chuckled to herself.

Just like everyone else, she was ordered to keep her Principal Disposition a secret.

However, there was a reason she could expose hers.

In fact, it was advantageous for her to do so—especially in this event.

"Fireball..." She whispered, stretching out her hand to reveal a swirling mass of flames.

Everyone in the crowd was stunned by this display.

Someone actually used a Principal Disposition in the Friendly Games!

Just what kind of event was this?!

So many strange things were happening at the same time—it was difficult for most people to keep up with the developments.

’Now then... try to use your Principal Disposition to defend yourself!’ Liliana smirked with absolute confidence as she launched the fiery projectile. ’Show everyone how pathetic you are!’

She was too close in proximity for Richard to simply evade the assault.

Plus, Jason had already outflanked him, so he could not retreat.

He had to take on the blazing flames head-on.

Naturally, someone like that would instinctively rely on his Principal Disposition to save him in such a situation. Even though [Basic Summoning] could not do much against a fireball, if he summoned something sturdy to protect his vitals, he could at least minimize damage.

There was also the option of summoning a pail of water, which could at least reduce the intensity of the flames. However, while Richard focused on the fire, the two would close in and deliver the finishing blow.

Exposing the Blanc Heir for the weakling he was, while also defeating him not too long after....

... It was the perfect plan!

However—

"You really thought you could defeat me with this alone...?" Richard muttered, slowly raising his head as he stared condescendingly at the imminent danger approaching him.

"How weak!"
