I Know the Secret to Surpass Level 100-Chapter 498: Aquarius vs the Kingsguard (2)
Aquarius’s chest exploded into a gush of water, so did the rest of his body. The water flowed around the floor and reformed himself, panting in shock.
"That was close," Aquarius said to himself. "It seems like the Kingsguard isn’t the only thing Death sent." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
There were three Knights that stood behind Aquarius. One of them was responsible for stabbing Aquarius from behind, but since the man was immune to physical attacks, he didn’t perished.
"My body is already part water and my magic enhanced this liquid state," Aquarius said to the Knights. "I know you don’t understand, but I’m basically immune to physical attacks. Good luck."
The man slammed his hand on the ground and pierced three giant thorns made of water right through the Knights. The beasts instantly perished, each one of them shaking before dying in vain.
"It’s a good thing I didn’t come with Frederick," Aquarius said. "Now, time for you."
He faced the Kingsguard who was only watching him. It had the opportunity to attack him after Aquarius was facing the three Knights, but it didn’t.
"Why didn’t you attack me?" Aquarius asked. "You had the opportunity, but you didn’t."
"I’m not... like that."
Aquarius froze after hearing the creature talk. His lips parted, slowly taking a few steps back in shock. "W-What? How is this possible?"
"You..." the Kingsguard said. "You’re a powerful human. Why aren’t you serving the King?"
"You can talk?" Aquarius gasped. "But how? Beasts don’t talk."
"They gave... me power," the Kingsguard took a step to the side and showed a hallway filled with fallen Adventurers. "They gave me this voice, and this thought, and this feeling."
Aquarius morphed into a puddle of water and rushed to where the Adventurers were. They didn’t have any wounds on them, but there was one particular detail that he saw.
These Adventurers have their eyes rolled to the back of their heads, mouths opened as far as their mouths can go, and their skin was white as paper, as if their lives were literally sucked out from them.
"You sucked out their souls," Aquarius said. "How dare you?"
"Death..." the Kingsguard said. "I was chained here by Death. He forced those souls into me. And now I have thoughts."
"How am I supposed to believe that?" Aquarius yelled. "You killed tens of us and now you’re acting like you’re the victim."
The Kingsguard shook its head and raised its arms to show the black chains that once tied it. The chains were broken, but the marks on the chains shows that it was fresh.
"I..." the Kingsguard spoke. "I don’t want this life. I want to serve my King in our Palace."
"How powerful is Death?" Aquarius asked. "Why is he able to overpower you just like that?"
"Death is powerful," the Kingsguard spoke. "He can kill my King if my King wouldn’t get more power from the Mother."
"The Mother?" Aquarius asked. "What does that mean?"
The Kingsguard sighed and sat cross legged. Every time it would move, the entire hallway would shake just by the size of it. "Us inhabitants of the Palace are just manifestations... of the Mother.
"The Mother is our core. The one who gives birth to us. Among the inhabitants of the Palace, only the Kings can have humane thoughts because the Mother could only give one human thought to her creations," the Kingsguard continued. "But lately, the Mother has been getting stronger and stronger. She’s giving us more power, and now everyone in the Palace are like humans."
"You mean the Mages do not respawn your people?" Aquarius asked. "All this time, we thought that there are Mages deep inside the Palaces which respawns the fallen. But you’re telling me, that it’s not?"
"The Mother would give birth to her children," the Kingsguard said. "The fallen ones are fallen and are replaced by the new. And I–"
Aquarius watched as the Kingsguard screamed and touched its head. "Kill me."
"What?" Aquarius gasped. "What do you mean kill you, we were just talking."
"Death..." the Kingsguard growled. "Death has consumed Mother. Mother controls us and if you don’t kill me now, I will let loose. Please kill... me!"
The Kingsguard kneeled on the ground and slammed both of its arms through the floor, restraining itself. "Kill me through my neck."
"I–" Aquarius sighed. "Alright."
He shaped a giant blade made of water and placed it above the Kingsguard neck like a guillotine. He sighed, but before he could say anything, the Kingsguard looked up to him and stared in his eyes.
"For the short time we talked," the Kingsguard said. It slammed its head on the ground which blew the front of its helmet off and showed its face. He looked just like a human. "I never felt so happy. I didn’t even have a name."
"Michael," Aquarius said. "Goodbye Michael."
"Goodbye, Aquarius," Michael smiled as the blades fell to his neck, cutting his head off which made Aquarius lose all of his strength in his feet. There were tears in the giant severed head, but a smile that showed his satisfaction.
"Hey!" Minis yelled as he ran towards Aquarius. "What in the hell happened here?"
"Where are King Leopold and the rest?" Aquarius wiped his tears off and forced himself up. "Did they make it to safety?"
"They’re fine," Minos replied. "What happened here? Why are you crying and oh, my lord is that its face?"
"He," Aquarius corrected. "His name was Michael."
"Aki, this is a beast," Minos said. "Why are you so affected by the death of a beast."
"He has her face," Aquarius said. "Celine’s mother, my sister. He looked just like her."
"God of the Seas as they call you and you get tricked easily."
They turned around when they heard the voice behind the head. It was kicked in front of Aquarius, showing the true gruesome look it had. This made the man almost vomit in disgust.
"They’re playing tricks on you," a man spoke. "You’re falling for it hard as I see."
"You..." Aquarius scrunched his face. "What are you doing here?"
"I’m here to see my nephew, what else?" the man chuckled. "Where is he?"
"We don’t know where they are–"
"You’re supposed to be dead," Aquarius cut Minos’s words off. "We saw you get killed by that white dragon back in the beach city. How?"
"You don’t know the natural laws of realms, don’t you?" the man laughed. "When you die in another realm, you will come back to life in your own realm. Of course, the Soul Collectors will take time to do so, but basically yeah. You don’t die, basically."
"What is this bullsh*t?" Aquarius scoffed. "Did you really die, Clan?"

Back in the north eastern part of Avancia, a giant cloud of dust slowly got cleared by the wind. The once magnificent Purple Palace was now nothing but ruins as five men hovered above it, one in particular was holding a purple stone.
"They had no chance," Death chuckled. He was heavily injured, and so were the rest, but he cleared the Palace.
"They can talk now too. What’s up with that?" Mammon panted.
"Doesn’t matter," Death raised the gem. "We have one, four more to go."
