Chapter 80: Chapter 80 I’ve Walked So Long I Forgot My Name

The shadows around Li Ruoxi’s master swirled gently, as though responding to the weight and finality of her words.

They crept along the walls like living things, stretching and recoiling in silent obedience.

"Go at once, Midnight," she continued, her voice calm yet firm.

"Time is of the essence. Every moment we delay is another moment others might seize the opportunity before us."

"I will do so at once, Master," Li Ruoxi replied without the slightest hesitation.

She lowered herself into a deep bow, her posture perfectly respectful, her resolve unshaken.

When she straightened, her figure blurred, and in the blink of an eye, she vanished from her master’s sight, already setting her course toward Li Zhiyan’s household with unwavering determination.

The night that followed passed in peace for most members of the Li clan.

Lanterns were extinguished one by one, laughter faded, and the compound slowly sank into silence.

Yet for a select few, sleep proved impossible.

They lay awake, hearts restless, fully aware of the plan Li Ruoxi’s master had crafted... one designed to cling tightly to Lin Feng’s powerful big thick thighs.

Hours slipped by, unnoticed.

Then, at last, dawn arrived.

Golden light spilled over the Li clan grounds, washing away the shadows of the night and ushering in another day.

Birds chirped softly, and the morning breeze carried with it the promise of change.

In one quiet corner of the city, a little girl clenched her small fists and gritted her teeth in determination.

"Wanwan can do this! Wanwan doesn’t want to be late anymore!"

Su Wanwan quickly gathered her things, her movements hurried but careful.

Today, she left earlier than usual, her heart beating with anticipation rather than dread.

No more arriving at ten o’clock like before... today, her goal was to reach school at exactly nine, or even earlier.

She wanted to make her teacher proud.

She wanted to learn more.

She wanted to become stronger.

As she walked, her eyes sparkled with excitement. Every lesson felt like a new door opening before her.

Even though she didn’t fully understand everything yet, she loved drawing, and Lin Feng’s teachings were always thrilling.

His words lit a fire in her chest, making her blood boil with excitement and curiosity.

Some of his explanations were complicated, filled with concepts far beyond her age, but that didn’t discourage her.

Instead, it made her even more eager.

"Wanwan is still young," she muttered to herself, puffing out her cheeks slightly.

"Wanwan will understand them much better when Wanwan grows a little bigger."

A bright smile spread across her face.

With renewed determination, Su Wanwan began to walk faster, her small feet pattering against the stone path as she made her way toward the Su clan gates.

The morning sun bathed her figure in warm light, casting a long shadow behind her... one that seemed to hint at a future far greater than her tiny frame suggested.

And so, with hope in her heart and purpose in her steps, she stepped beyond the gates, ready to greet the day.

But when Wanwan stepped outside the Su clan gates, she froze in place.

Standing there were two people she never expected to see so early in the morning.

"Hi, Wanwan!"

"Good morning, Wanwan!"

Chu Jiangyue and Qiao Mei greeted her warmly, their voices cheerful and bright.

Behind them stood a magnificent golden carriage, its surface gleaming in the morning sunlight.

Eight tall, powerful horses were harnessed to it, stamping their hooves impatiently, their breath misting in the cool air.

Wanwan’s eyes widened slightly at the sight.

"Classmate Chu Jiangyue and Classmate Qiao Mei, Wanwan greets you both! Good morning!" she said quickly, then hesitated before adding, "What are you doing in Wanwan’s clan?"

"We’ve come to get you, Wanwan," Chu Jiangyue replied with a gentle smile.

"My aunt and I were also on our way to school, so we thought we’d pick you up. That way, the three of us can arrive together."

She expected Wanwan to light up with excitement.

Instead, hesitation and shyness slowly crept across the little girl’s face.

Wanwan clasped her small hands together, her fingers fidgeting nervously.

Her gaze lowered, and she shuffled her feet slightly, clearly unsure what to do.

"You two should go ahead without Wanwan," she said softly.

"Wanwan doesn’t want to cause trouble for anyone. Wanwan’s mama said Wanwan should not be a burden to others, and that Wanwan should be careful not to offend anyone. Mama said wanwan should always keep this in mind and remember it."

As she spoke, Wanwan bobbed her blonde head up and down earnestly, as if affirming her own words.

There was even a faint hint of pride in her expression... proud that she had remembered her mother’s teachings so clearly.

Chu Jiangyue blinked, momentarily stunned by the seriousness in Wanwan’s tiny voice.

Qiao Mei exchanged a glance with her, her expression softening.

"Wanwan," Chu Jiangyue said gently, crouching down to meet her eye level, "you’re not a burden at all. We really want you to come with us."

"Yes," Qiao Mei added with a warm smile. "It’s more fun going to school together. Besides, we’re classmates, aren’t we?"

Wanwan bit her lower lip, clearly torn between her mother’s words and the sincere kindness in front of her. Her eyes flicked toward the grand carriage, then back to the two girls.

"But... but Wanwan is very small," she murmured. "Wanwan walks slowly. What if Wanwan makes you late?"

Chu Jiangyue laughed softly. "That’s exactly why we brought the carriage."

Qiao Mei gestured toward it proudly. "See? It’s big enough for all of us."

Wanwan hesitated for another heartbeat, then finally looked up at them, her eyes bright but cautious.

"Are you really, really sure Wanwan won’t be troublesome?"

"Absolutely sure," both girls said at once.

Slowly, Wanwan’s lips curved into a small, shy smile.

"Wanwan thanks you!" Su Wanwan bowed deeply, her movements polite and sincere.

After that, the three of them climbed into the carriage, its golden doors closing softly behind them.
