I Have An SSS-Rank Service System: Hire Me For Anything!-Chapter 6: Working All Night
Dory ended up cleaning four more shops and was currently on the fourth one. As soon as he was done, the system surfaced with a message.
[Mission Completed]
[400 SP earned]
[Total Service Points: 1900]
"Another four hundred points. Wow," he whispered.
He carried a sack with his groceries in it and waved goodbye to the shopkeeper. He decided not to ask for anything from the four shops and maintained the only deal with Maya. It was not as if Maya even knew there was a deal.
As a thank you, he was going to refer people to her shop.
"Guess I am romantic after all," he chuckled and made his way back to Horg’s place. It was already evening and the sun was setting. Shopkeepers were already closing, and children were running back home.
The golden hour bathed the village in a warm orange glow, making the wooden cottages look far more peaceful than they felt during the day. Dory walked with a slight limp, his body protesting the literal ton of cleaning he had done, but his mind was buzzing.
He had 1900 SP and, even more importantly, he had earned the trust of a few shopkeepers in the village. At this rate, he would clear his bad reputation and come back stronger.
When he arrived back at Horg’s, the big man was sitting on his porch, nursing a mug of ale. He looked at Dory, who was dirt-streaked and exhausted but carrying a sack of groceries, and grunted.
"Argh, this isn’t your house, boy. But still, there is food inside. Liam prepared it for you."
Dory nodded and walked in with a smile. Did his voice sound a bit soft?
Without pressing further, he walked in, past the shop and the open space, and into the house. It was funny to note that Horg’s house was quite luxurious and clean compared to his shop and open space. Horg might be a rough, short-tempered blacksmith to the world, but inside these walls, he lived like a man who valued his hard-earned comfort.
Liam was at the wooden table, poking at a bowl of thick vegetable and beef pottage. When he saw Dory, he jumped up, his eyes bright. "You’re back! I... I saved the thickest parts for you. And there is fresh bread. Maya’s father delivered it earlier."
Dory sat down, his muscles finally screaming in relief as he slumped into the chair. He didn’t realize how hungry he was until the first spoonful hit his tongue.
"Delicious. I have never had good food consecutively since I entered this world. Wow."
"Thanks, Liam," Dory rasped. He looked at the groceries he had brought: the oil, the sand, and the trash fruit. "Eat up. We have a long night. We are going to be packaging the product."
Liam tilted his head. "Packaging? It’s iron, Dory. You just... throw it in a pile."
Dory smiled, a bit of that predatory glint returning to his sunken eyes. "That’s why they’re only making two coppers profit, Liam. Tomorrow, we’re going to show them the difference between a commodity and a brand."
Liam stared at him with a deadpan expression and sighed. "Okay. Okay. Whatever you say."
After dinner, the two were back in the shop. Liam lit two candles and placed them in different parts of the shop, brightening the space. Horg was already fast asleep back at home.
Liam turned to him with energetic eyes. "So, Dory. What am I helping you with?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Dory dropped the bag and stretched. He brought out the materials and separated them. Then he moved to the iron ingots while Liam watched him with awe.
[Standardized Measurement Stamp Activated]
Soon the iron ingots glowed slightly. When the light dimmed, marks shaped like eagles appeared on their bodies. Liam opened his mouth, unable to speak. Finally, he spoke, or rather, he yelled.
"How?! How did you do that?!"
Dory smiled and scratched the back of his head. "Well, it isn’t magic. It’s... just an understanding of magic at a certain level. The type that makes money."
Liam did not say anything. He just nodded, though he was not fully reassured.
After that, Dory asked Liam to break the crates while he lubed and buffed the iron ingots. Dory sat cross-legged on the floor with the forty ingots, attending to each of them at the same time. By the time the moon reached its peak, they were both done with their jobs.
"Now, Liam," Dory said, wiping a smudge of grease from his cheek. "Bring the wood here."
Dory used his remaining energy and basic skills to reconstruct the crates. Instead of rough, open boxes, they built eight sleek, shallow cases. Each case was designed to hold exactly five ingots, nestled tightly together in the honeycomb pattern he had thought of earlier. When the last bar was placed, Liam gasped.
"Dory... they look like... like jewelry. Like something a Duke would have on his desk."
"Exactly," Dory whispered.

[Service Points Earned: +100 (Professional Dedication Bonus)]
[Total Service Points: 2000]
Now he had enough points to purchase the metal-making package, but he decided not to. It wouldn’t make a difference anyway and would just make things more difficult. More iron ingots would be much harder to sell. Not everyone in the market square came for iron ingots, anyway. Only a few merchants and the weaponry makers were preparing for the war.
"I better keep the points for later."
"Liam," Dory said, leaning his head back against the cold stone of the forge. "Get two hours of sleep. We leave early."
Liam nodded and left, already yawning. When he was gone, Dory summoned the system and checked his status.

After he collected his advance pay of ten coppers from Horg earlier today, he figured out that the daily multiplier multiplies it and adds it to his account without affecting the original money.
Yawning, Dory rubbed his eyes and turned off the candles. He needed to sleep and prepare for tomorrow.
