Chapter 600: Chapter 600: Heisman Ti

“And so, the last researcher activated the base’s self-destruct mechanism and released the Sand Phili virus. For some unknown reason, the self-destruct mechanism was ineffective, and the Sand Phili virus filled the entire base instead…” sighs Himan, a complex expression on his face.

“All the researchers here, except for you, are dead?” Song Jian asks in surprise while also feeling worried. He has already been inside the base for nearly two hours. If the Sand Phili virus is still present, he might have already been infected unknowingly.

“Yes, they’re all dead. There’s no cure for the Sand Phili virus. The so-called antidote can only suppress and alleviate the symptoms. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have ended up like this…” Himan stretches out his hands, showing a bitter smile.

Song Jian’s face immediately darkens. Himan seems to have guessed his thoughts and smiles lightly, saying: “Don’t worry. Sand Phili virus decomposes quickly. Not only does it dissolve in water, but it can only exist in the air for twenty-four hours. If the ventilation system is good, it should be completely decomposed in eight hours…”

Song Jian breathes a sigh of relief. If he really was infected by the Sand Phili virus, he would have to use the passive skill “Enemy of Death God” once.

“Is there anything I can help you with?” Song Jian glances at the chains that bind Himan’s limbs and asks.

A smile emerges on Himan’s face. Hasn’t he said so much just to let Song Jian ask this question voluntarily?

Song Jian’s identity as a god-favored one was known to Himan the moment he opened the mysterious cave, but Song Jian still doesn’t know who or what He is.

Himan is unlike any creature Song Jian has encountered in the game. His attributes are all hidden, just like a player. This makes Himan the strangest creature Song Jian has met since entering the game, not quite a player, but possessing some basic rights of a player.

After Song Jian asks the unique player’s task inquiry, a smirk sneakily appears on Himan’s dry face before he quickly covers it up.

Himan’s gaze at Song Jian feels like that of a spider who sees its prey struggling on a spider’s web.

“You are a god-favored one? I know there is an incredibly precious treasure for god-favored ones inside this base. It can greatly enhance your strength!” After carefully observing Song Jian for a moment, Himan suddenly says: “If you can rescue me from this prison, I can take you to acquire that treasure!”

System: You have received a branch mission—Break Free. The mission’s difficulty is unknown. Mission objective: Help the creature in front of you break free from its binds and regain its freedom.

Warning: Due to the presence of other missions involving this creature on your person, accepting this mission will greatly increase the difficulty of the other missions. Please choose carefully.

System: “Do you accept this mission? Yes/No?”

Song Jian raises his head and smiles gently, and says, “Before I accept this task, can you tell me how to get you out of here? The chains that bind you here must not be ordinary, right?”

“Of course! These four chains and the entire secret chamber were made using the latest materials researched by the empire—meteorite alloy. Not only is it incredibly hard, but it also possesses the self-repairing ability of living organisms. Ordinary weapons couldn’t possibly cut through it,” Himan says with an excited smile.

“So, what should I do? If it’s so sturdy, I’m afraid I won’t be able to rescue you. If I accept and fail this mission, won’t I also be punished?” Song Jian shows an apparent hesitant expression.

“No, this mission is quite simple!” Himan quickly says, “You just need to go to Laboratory 6 in the base. Stored there is a corrosive solution extracted from plant bodies. You just need to bring it here, and it’ll corrode the four iron chains binding me.”

Song Jian nods and smiles, “Laboratory 6, huh? Where is this Laboratory 6, and how do I get there?”

The floating base is too vast—Song Jian hasn’t even explored one-tenth of it. If Himan doesn’t point him in the right direction, he probably wouldn’t find Laboratory 6 after an entire day of searching.

Seeing Song Jian’s calm face, Himan suddenly feels something’s off and says, “You must accept the mission first; as soon as you do, I will provide you with a detailed map of the base.”

Song Jian doesn’t say anything, continuing to stare intently at Himan’s woodgrain face. Finally, after a long pause, he sighs, saying, “I initially thought your imprisonment for so long would have rendered your mind dull, but it seems I was wrong…”

Himan suddenly realizes something is amiss and Song Jian moves at that moment.

The Crimson Fire Heart Ape Sword in his hand emits a golden Sword Qi, swiftly stabbing toward Himan on the stone platform.

“How dare you…!” Himan’s face fills with rage, and murderous intent is seen in his red eyes.

Swish~

Himan opens his mouth, and a bloody tongue shoots out like a spear aimed at Song Jian.

Song Jian swings his sword to slash, drawing an arc in the air with his long blade, chopping towards Himan’s long tongue.

With a clang, the sword slashes the tongue, sounding like the clash of gold and steel. Sparks burst out, and a soybean-sized notch is cut into Himan’s tongue.

Himan howls in pain, expressing shock in his eyes, as he had not expected Song Jian’s sword to be so sharp.

Withdrawing his tongue, Himan’s mouth slowly oozes a dark red blood.

“Why, why…?” Himan yells angrily. Song Jian is the first living creature he has encountered in so many years that could enter the floating base. He had originally intended to deceive him into helping him break free but never thought he would see through Himan’s schemes.

“How did you know…?” Himan’s face becomes dreadfully dark, and he wonders when Song Jian started suspecting him.

“You have too many flaws!” Song Jian shakes his head, speaking slowly, “Firstly, the virus killed everybody in the base, but you survived. Your identity must not be that of an ordinary researcher, as you claim to be.”

“Secondly, how did you, a person who has been imprisoned for so many years, even know about god-favored ones?” Song Jian smiles coldly.

“Furthermore, it’s your eyes. I’ve been observing your eyes since I first saw you…” Song Jian’s eyes sharpen like knives, staring at Himan, “Your eyes are identical to those of the final recorded BOSS in the control room!”

“You are not called Himan; you should be called Xisimante, shouldn’t you?” Song Jian questions.
