I Have a Sailing Game-Chapter 91: Aozhou Card
[Come on, come on, we’re an adventurer’s guild, not a trading caravan. No need to take it as seriously as a job. I’m not giving you a salary.]
Rogel chuckled.
[...Alright.]
Yas was a bit speechless.
This captain is too frivolous.
Mira didn’t mind, she was engrossed in a book at the moment.
But when she saw Rogel summon the Bone Spirit, her attention shifted to the little skeleton.
[Captain, doesn’t summoning this Bone Spirit consume any stamina or something?]
Mira couldn’t help but ask curiously.
Upon hearing this, Rogel pondered for a moment and satisfied Mira’s curiosity.
Summoning the Bone Spirit indeed consumes Spiritual Value.
But the amount consumed isn’t much.
Moreover, if the Bone Spirit remains, he just needs to give a bit of Spiritual Value periodically, making it quite convenient.
The only place where a lot of Spiritual Value is consumed is when initially planting the Bone Spirit and when repairing it.
The most Spiritual Value consumed is when planting the Bone Spirit, around eight points or so.
And during the subsequent nurturing, Rogel continuously provides quite a bit of Spiritual Value.
Compared to that, the Spiritual Value provided when repairing its injuries isn’t as much.
However, Rogel feels it’s worth the effort.
Now he has an ever-obedient minion.
...The downside might be its lack of intelligence.
Possibly because it has no brain.
Thinking of this, Rogel glanced at the Bone Spirit’s empty head.
[Go steer the ship, carefully monitor the course.]
Rogel instructed the Bone Spirit.
The Bone Spirit rattled its way up.
Bam!
It bumped into Yas’s large frame in the middle, losing an arm.
When there are no bones around to provide, it’s quite weak.
[...]
Yas picked up the bone arm and silently handed it to the Bone Spirit.
Feeling this thing is quite unreliable.
As Rogel pulled out a table, Yas glanced at the empty card table and couldn’t help but ask.
[...Captain, where are the cards?]
Rogel showed an awkward smile.
[I’ll make them now.]
After saying that, he went into the artisan room.
Seeing this, Mira laughed heartily, while Yas helplessly covered his face.
In no time, Rogel returned.
[...What cards are we playing?]
Rogel stroked his chin.
Could it be that he should make a set of Mahjong? Or poker?
[Do you two know how to play Fried Golden Flowers?]
Rogel looked at them expectantly.
[Fried what flowers?]
Yas was a bit startled.
[What golden flowers?]
Mira was also confused.
Alright, it seems like Fried Golden Flowers doesn’t exist in this world.
[How about this, don’t bother making cards; I have a fun little game.]
Mira gave Yas a glance.
Yas then pushed Mira into her room.
Not long after, Mira came out carrying a book and a box of delicately crafted cards.
Mira placed the cards on the table.
Rogel took a look.
These cards are engraved with beautiful creature illustrations—giant dragons, goblins, dwarves, elves, humans, and so on...
Beside the illustrations of these creatures, there is a corresponding number.
There are also cards representing weather and travel tools, such as storms, large ships, and more...
[This deck is called Aozhou Card, Yas and I used to play often. Don’t know if the captain has played before.]
Mira spoke as she shuffled the cards.
Upon hearing this, Rogel shook his head.
If he had played this card game, he wouldn’t have asked if they know Fried Golden Flowers...
Mira smiled and began explaining the rules of the Aozhou Card game to Rogel.
Aozhou Card consists of five types of cards.
Biological Cards, Weather Cards, Equipment Cards, Action Cards, and only one Aozhou Island card.
The game rules are that participants start from their own place and can move to Aozhou Island via a land and water route.
During the journey, players use hand card combinations to defeat other players’ Biological Cards and ultimately occupy Aozhou Island.
Biological Cards have basic combat and defense values; the weakest in number are goblins, most plentiful. The strongest are Giant Dragon Cards, having the highest attack power.
Weather Cards can affect the weather, cleverly changing the course of events.
For example, Goblin Cards require the action card "Ship" to move on water routes, but if someone uses "Tidal Wave," the ship will be destroyed, along with the goblin.
Action Cards are divided into three types: ship, carriage, and cloud.
Most Biological Cards need Action Card assistance to move.
Equipment Cards can provide some attack power and special effects; there are even cards specifically for slaughtering giant dragons, though the conditions are demanding.
Aozhou Island is self-explanatory, being the ultimate victory condition.
But it’s not about who runs the fastest and lands on Aozhou Island first.
Upon reaching Aozhou Island, one must withstand attacks from other players for five turns to win.
During these five turns, the player on Aozhou Island can draw only one card per turn.
Of course, there are some intricate rules involved.
For example, Giant Dragon Cards, there is only one, having the highest attack power among Biological Cards, can traverse land and water routes without requiring Action Cards for movement.
However, this most potent Giant Dragon Card is not simply drawn.
At the start of the game, each player receives a "Dragon Egg" card.
Dragon Egg requires sacrificing slain enemy Biological Cards to a certain number to summon a Giant Dragon.
[Quite a lot of rules, no wonder you packed the cards in a box...]
Rogel found it quite interesting.
[How about Yas and I play a round first to show you.]
Mira suggested.
Rogel nodded, then stepped behind her to watch the game unfold.
Yas and Mira sat opposite each other, placing Aozhou Island in the middle, drew a line for each land route, and took a Dragon Egg Card, then began drawing cards.
Mira’s luck seemed not so good.
Among the five cards, there were two goblins, a knight, a shield, and a cloud.
The descriptions for Goblin and Knight say they cannot use the cloud card to move.
But Mira wasn’t worried; she directly laid a Goblin, equipped it with a shield, and set off by land.
Although Shield Card cannot increase Goblin’s attack power, it can enhance its defense.
[As usual, goblins exploring the path.]
Yas smiled and shook his head.
He laid down a Knight, directly equipped it with a Warhorse Card to enable faster movement.
Then it was Mira’s turn.
After drawing two cards, Mira also laid down a Knight but had no equipment, letting it move ahead of the goblin.
Yas didn’t speak, but once the knight moved, he placed a Human Archer behind it.
The two didn’t lay any more Biological Cards, maintaining their movement.
Two turns later, the knight equipped with the Warhorse Card first reached Aozhou Island.
Another turn later, Mira’s Biological Cards reached Aozhou Island as well.
Yas launched the first attack. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
The Human Archer with high attack power reduced the goblin to half health; one more shot, and the goblin archer would be gone.
Then the knight charged, instantly knocking out the unarmed knight under the Warhorse Card’s boost.
Mira wasn’t fazed; she played a "Lightning" Weather Card.
All Biological Cards on the field received an equal high amount of damage; Mira’s goblin and Yas’s two cards were all wiped out.
Mira brandished her two Biological Cards, her lips curling up.
[Made a profit!]
Mira giggled, placed the Human Archer and Knight near the Dragon Egg Card.
Since Mira used Lightning Card to defeat the goblin, Yas could only place one Knight Card next to the Dragon Egg, making a loss.
It looks like Mira had it all planned; her goal was to gain a sacrifice lead with the Dragon Egg.
