I Have A Dual World Seal-Chapter 823: A Phoenix Order Melody
That noon, Lu Zheng personally cooked a sumptuous lunch as a welcoming meal for Tu Yujiao and as a comfort for Zhu Yushan and his wife.
Now that she knew about Zhu Yushan's official prospects, Li Hanyu dispelled her animosity towards Tu Yujiao. The two clinked glasses of Cyan Plum Wine, thus settling past grievances with a smile, though she still wouldn't yield her husband.
...
Zhu Yushan and his wife left, but Tu Yujiao stayed behind.
In the days that followed, life finally became tranquil and uneventful.
There was little happening on either side. Lu Zheng spent only short periods in modern times, simply accompanying Lin Wan for meals, sleep, and weekend outings. In ancient times, there was slightly more to do—besides spending time with his two wives, he also discussed music theory with Si Lingxi and watched opera with the Tu Family's Three Sisters.
Tu Yuya, who loved performing, opened a new door after watching "The Song of Everlasting Sorrow" at Peach Blossom Plain. She even acted as Emperor Ming of Tang and, to be honest, surpassed Shen Ying.
Tu Yuqing was gentle and serene, never looking for trouble, while Tu Yujiao was loud and boisterous, yet she could play happily with Liu Qingquan. They played Gomoku, Chinese Checkers, Stratego, and Ludo with great enthusiasm, and indulged joyfully in cake, orange juice, and chocolate.
Nevertheless, these three sisters were rather easy to entertain.
...
"What's this?"
"A suona."
"What a strange timbre."
"It's quite distinctive."
"You're using the suona, yaoqin, and jade flute in this piece?"
"Exactly!"
"Using True Qi to drive the instruments doesn't quite reach the mental realm." Si Lingxi hinted.
"The suona plays in the first half of this piece, the jade flute in the latter half. As for the yaoqin that spans throughout, Bai Ting'Er will perform it."
"Ah? Can I manage?" Bai Ting'Er was nearby.
"Don't worry, the middle part is relatively easier to grasp."
"Alright, I'll give it a try."
"Let's go!"
Once Lu Zheng and Bai Ting'Er were ready, Si Lingxi finally asked, "What's the name of this piece?"
Lu Zheng blinked, "Phoenix Order!"
...
Phoenix Order was a three-part composition created by Lu Zheng, integrating modern folk music "Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix", the ancient "Classic of Poetry · Greater Elegance · Juan Ao", and his own original musical segment.
The first segment, "Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix".
With the yaoqin as background music, it portrays a magnificent scene of a gentle spring breeze, blooming flowers, high clouds, and warm sunlight spreading across the land. Led by the suona, it depicts the lively, boisterous, and joyous atmosphere of birds competing in song.
Then, as the phoenix appears, the joy of the birds reaches its peak, with the music growing more passionate, as if the world itself is celebrating the arrival of the phoenix, in matchless jubilation.
The second segment, "Phoenix Soaring".
The phoenix emerges, commanding the birds and majestically traveling the land. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
In this segment, the yaoqin gradually becomes more prominent, taking the lead role, while the suona's birdsong fades away. The crystalline, melodious notes evoke the phoenix's elegance and grace, leading the birds in their journey, bestowing happiness and well-being upon all creation.
This segment's mental realm derives from "Classic of Poetry · Greater Elegance · Juan Ao", with its rhythmic tone inspired by the historical court music of ancient Hua Country, with some fresh and graceful modifications. This blend not only presents the phoenix's ethereal essence but also its noble majesty.
The third segment, "Phoenix Soaring into the Sky".
At this point, the yaoqin's sound gradually diminishes, becoming background music. As the phoenix ascends, the flowers fade away, the birds retreat, and it enters the clouds. The jade flute sound gradually rises, with wind effects howling and an emptiness all around, the phoenix standing proudly in the clouds, with unmatched grace.
Pride, solitude, coldness…
This was a phoenix soaring composition based on Si Lingxi's own personality, adopting elements of Hua Country's Wuxia-style melodies and featuring a wealth of original rhythms.
...
A three-part composition, from the beginning, where the joy of the birds and the entirety of creation heralds the phoenix's entrance, to the middle, where the phoenix governs the world with wisdom and grace, to the finale, where the phoenix, prideful and aloof, soars into the sky brimming with peerless flair.
It showcased the world's perspective of the phoenix, the phoenix's perspective of the world, and the phoenix's perspective of itself.
The emotions intensify gradually, and the mental realm converges layer upon layer!
With the piece's performance, everyone present became deeply immersed, and it seemed that a Fire Phoenix appeared before their eyes, flapping its wings in the clouds, exuding ethereality, wisdom, elegance, nobility, pride, and solitude…
Unparalleled grace!
Finally, as the yaoqin's sound faded to barely audible, and the jade flute's notes became ethereal and faint, the Fire Phoenix that surveyed the heavens spread its wings once more, crossed the sky, and flew farther and farther away. As the final notes of the jade flute disappeared, that peerless phoenix also vanished into the distance.
...
Once the piece ended, everyone felt a lingering sense of loss and remained silent for a long while before returning to reality.
Bai Ting'Er sighed deeply, blinking her eyes, surprised that this piece was actually played by her.
"What a marvelous 'Phoenix Order'!" Tu Yuqing praised, "The phoenix is unparalleled, as if its song was divine."
Tu Yujiao giggled and said, "It's as if an immortal descended from another world, noble as a monarch in civilization, loftier than a saint above the clouds. What a magnificent 'Phoenix Order'!"
Liu Qingquan glanced at Tu Yujiao beside her, surprised that this sister, who played Gomoku with her every day, was so cultured.
Liu Qingyan looked at Lu Zheng, who had just set down the jade flute, her gaze filled with a loving tenderness.
The others couldn't help but lavish praise, declaring this 'Phoenix Order' the most beautiful and captivating music they had ever heard.
Shen Ying, standing next to Si Lingxi, turned to see Si Lingxi's expression as usual, but with vibrant brilliance in her eyes, clearly satisfied.
Lu Zheng lightly held the jade flute in hand and smiled at Si Lingxi, saying, "This could be considered my recent masterpiece. I seek guidance from the Palace Master."
Si Lingxi slightly pursed her lips, shaking her head with a smile, "You write about me; what can I critique? Still, this piece is indeed excellent. However, Bai Ting'Er is performing it for the first time. While her playing techniques are correct, the mental realm is somewhat lacking. If it weren't for your suona at the start and jade flute at the end, enhancing part of the yaoqin's atmosphere, the piece's impact would have been a third less effective."
Bai Ting'Er felt a bit embarrassed, but Si Lingxi reassured her, "Bai Ting'Er, no need to blame yourself. You've made great progress in music lately, and with more practice, things will improve significantly."
Bai Ting'Er blushed and nodded repeatedly, saying, "Such a transcendent piece, I must practice diligently!"
Si Lingxi nodded and said to Lu Zheng, "Finding a remarkable piece, why not perform it together?"
Bai Ting'Er hurriedly gave up her seat, while Lu Zheng's eyes lit up with excitement, "I would be delighted!"
Si Lingxi squinted her eyes, rose, and sat where Bai Ting'Er had been, facing Lu Zheng.
"Zheng— Zheng— Zheng—"
The mellifluous sound of the yaoqin resounded, accompanied by the suona.
