Chapter 77: Aran’s Infinite Skill!

Aran immediately smiled when the battle was announced. He vanished from the spot in an instant, disappearing from the sight of everyone present!

Lin frowned and focused on his senses, trying to determine which direction Aran might appear from to launch an attack!

"When he appears... I need to activate the skill immediately to defeat him!" Lin’s eyes lit up as he sharpened his awareness of the surroundings.

A few seconds later, he felt a gust of wind from behind and instantly turned, swinging his blade!

Whoosh!

Clang!

The katana and dagger clashed, creating a shower of yellow sparks. Aran looked at Lin with a bright smile, as if he knew every part of Lin’s plan like the back of his hand! freēnovelkiss.com

"Maybe... This is my chance!" Lin was about to activate his skill to slow time around him, but Aran vanished again!

Slightly irritated by Aran’s ability, Lin frowned and said:

"At this rate, you won’t be able to defeat me anytime soon."

"And I don’t need to!" Aran appeared behind Lin and struck with his dagger!

Whoosh!

Clang!

But Lin reacted quickly and caught the attack with his blade!

Lin didn’t even have time to think about using his skill before Aran vanished again!

"Does he have unlimited uses? And what about the Price? Doesn’t it affect him?" This natural question arose in Lin’s mind and among the spectators watching the battle.

After all, using a skill this many times without any side effects was strange and rare. Perhaps Aran had a minor Price whose effects were so subtle that he could use his ability repeatedly without concern.

"This is going to be a bit difficult..." Lin wanted to check his status, which he hadn’t seen in a while:

[Status:

— Physical health: 85%

— Mental health: 97%

— Distortion: 36%]

Seeing his status quickly through a blue screen, Lin realized he could only use his skill once. So, he had to calculate the moment carefully to avoid wasting it if Aran vanished again.

"Lin... Why are you so distracted?" Aran appeared behind Lin and said this to him before vanishing again.

"Interesting... So Aran’s ability lets him become invisible?" thought Silia, waiting for Aran’s next appearance to confirm it.

When Aran appeared near Lin again, Lin instantly determined it was the perfect moment to activate his skill and catch Aran!

Slow Motion Perception!

A five-meter radius around Lin slowed down, and any movement inside it became sluggish. But unfortunately for Lin, Aran managed to use his skill in time and vanished from sight!

Lin stood alone in the middle of the area!

He snorted coldly.

"Even if you managed to disappear, that doesn’t guarantee you can escape this zone," he raised his blade and began swinging it across the slowed-time area!

Whoosh!

He sliced the air but saw no sign of Aran!

Whoosh!

Lin also used his legs and hands to try and locate Aran!

Whoosh!

Various attacks from Lin swept through the air, attempting to strike Aran, but it was as if Aran had vanished from space!

He was nowhere to be found!

"The skill’s duration... It’s about to expire, and then Forgetfulness will kick in... I need to do something," Lin looked around and saw the group of spectators watching their battle with great interest.

He smiled slightly and ran toward them, exiting the slowed-time area!

"This will slow him down a bit and give me some time."

"Lin?.." Silia noticed how Lin launched numerous attacks in an instant and then ran toward them!

Before she could say anything, he stood beside them and looked around!

Silia looked at him and suddenly remembered Royal’s words during their battle against the Monster-level Distorted creature.

"Protect Lin until he regains his memory... So his Price — is Forgetfulness?" Feeling enlightened, Silia looked at her cousin with a new understanding and smiled slightly.

"The Low Soul Shard was worth initiating this battle. And the fight’s not over yet."

As Silia thought this, Aran suddenly attacked the confused Lin — who had lost his memory — with a dagger in hand and a wild smile on his face!

Whoosh!

A long but shallow slash appeared on Lin’s brown robe, instantly restoring his memory and reminding him he was still in battle!

He quickly turned and swung his katana!

Whoosh!

To his surprise, Aran didn’t vanish and took the blow head-on!

Clang!

The two blades clashed and locked together like two hungry predators!

"So, Lin? How does it feel to have wasted your skill?" Aran smiled and lifted his right leg!

Bam!

Lin blocked Aran’s kick with his left arm while holding his sword with his right.

He gripped his blade tighter and began pushing against Aran’s small dagger with force.

Unable to continue holding the dagger against Lin’s katana, Aran sighed, lowered his leg, and then barely managed to lift his left leg to aim a kick at Lin’s stomach!

But to his surprise, when Lin grabbed his violet blade with both hands, he used all his strength and gave Aran no chance to attack again!

Whoosh!

A deep slash appeared on Aran’s shoulder from Lin’s katana!

"I lost!" Aran quickly said and stepped back.

Lin nodded.

"That wasn’t bad."

The spectators barely had time to process what had just happened.

Why did it all happen so fast?!

Silia, who had watched the entire fight closely, smiled slightly.

"It was worth it. Discovering that Lin’s Price is Forgetfulness and that he can only use his skill twice... First: during the battle with the Distorted creature. Second: during the fight with Aran..."

"And Aran himself... He’s rather strange. He vanished into thin air dozens of times as if he had an endless supply of uses... But near the end of the fight, he stopped doing it. Did his Price activate? Or did it increase so much that it could no longer be ignored?" Many possibilities came to Silia’s mind. And she was certain one of them was true.

While she pondered, Lin approached Royal and extended his hand to receive the coveted Low Soul Shard.

Royal smiled and handed the Low Soul Shard to Lin, whispering in his ear:

"Yulan was watching you closely and was really worried..."

Lin didn’t respond to Royal’s words. He simply took the Low Soul Shard from his hand. At that moment, nothing else mattered to him except using the violet crystal on himself and finally upgrading his skill to the second level!

Lin smiled and thought:

"Tonight... Tonight, I’ll use it to upgrade the skill to level two!"
