Chapter 53: Three people

Lin and Aran continued their journey through the hilly region until they saw three people up ahead — one girl and two guys. They were calmly sitting on the grass, roasting some meat, and actively discussing something.

Lin immediately frowned when he noticed them, while Aran just smiled and asked Lin:

"I assume they’re also students of the academy... So what should we do about them? They might have some useful information."

Lin nodded and started walking toward them, saying:

"Of course, we should stick together... They might have something we need," he smiled slightly.

Aran laughed and added:

"Ha-ha-ha. Of course, they might have something... In any case — be ready for anything."

Lin snorted and kept moving toward the small group of people. They were quite far away, but since the area was mostly hilly, spotting someone wasn’t a problem.

So, when Lin and Aran began walking straight toward the group, they noticed them and immediately grew cautious.

"W-Wed, some guys are coming toward us..." said one guy with a hint of fear in his voice as he looked at Lin and Aran walking in the distance.

A tall and muscular guy looked at Lin and Aran’s figures and frowned, noticing one of them had a katana on his belt.

"That weapon... That’s Lin!" Wed grinned brightly and stood up.

The beautiful girl sitting next to him looked at Lin’s figure and smiled.

"Lin... Isn’t he the handsome one everyone’s been talking about? They say he’s also very skilled in swordsmanship... If I stay with him, I’ll definitely survive in the Magic World..."

Wed turned to the two people beside him and quickly said:

"Hey, you two, leave your portions for those two guys! If we can get Lin to join our group, our chances of survival will rise significantly!"

The girl nodded immediately and set aside half her portion for Lin. The guy frowned a bit and, gritting his teeth, gave half to Lin and Aran.

As Lin and Aran approached the small group, Wed walked up to Lin with a bright smile and greeted him with a bow:

"Sir Lin! I expected to see you here in the Magic World!" Noticing Aran behind Lin, he greeted him too: "Sir Aran! I didn’t expect to meet you here either!"

Lin nodded and asked:

"Who are you, and what are you doing here?"

Wed nodded and began to explain everything that had happened to him — even though Lin didn’t ask:

"Well, after we entered those Gates, I ended up here on these hills with them. We assume we’re in the Great Underfined Peaks... After arriving here, we decided to find Fort Post as quickly as possible, and we’ve been traveling for five days now..."

"At the moment, we were roasting some birds we managed to catch and eating them. Would you like to try some?" He offered a bird leg in his hand.

Lin nodded and took the bird leg. He looked at it closely and took a small bite, carefully assessing the taste and checking for any poison. Once he realized the meat was safe, he smiled and patted Wed on the shoulder.

"This is great. We’re really tired, and I’m glad to meet people here who are actively willing to cooperate with us."

Wed nodded and turned his head, gesturing to the girl and guy to bring more bird legs for Lin and Aran.

Lin and Aran sat down and began eating eagerly, while Wed tried to start a conversation to avoid the awkward silence:

"Sir Lin and Aran, how did you end up in the hilly region? Do you perhaps know the way out of here?"

Lin ignored Wed, not wanting to talk to yet another person. But Aran smiled slightly at Wed and began telling everything in great detail:

"Of course, we’ll tell you. It all started when I appeared in this place. At first, I didn’t understand where I was, who I was, how to survive here, whether there’s a prince on a white horse who would save me..."

Wed and the other guy, along with the girl, looked at each other and saw confusion on each other’s faces. But they didn’t interrupt Aran and listened quietly.

"After traveling countless kilometers, I saw Lin... He was like a small, lonely figure with no "energy"... So, being his good friend, I helped him, and we continued on our way to Fort Post together," finishing his story, Aran looked at the three people and asked:

"I told you our story, now tell me — how did you manage to survive without water, and how did you catch birds?"

Wed smiled awkwardly and started explaining how they survived and caught the birds:

"Well, I have a skill that lets me walk very quietly. She..." Wed pointed to the beautiful girl and continued: "She’s an Elemental Awakened who can summon water."

Wed pointed at the guy and said:

"He’s also an Elemental Awakened, and can control wind. Combining our abilities, we’ve formed a strong combo that allows us to easily catch stray birds."

Aran showed great surprise and started praising them:

"That’s simply amazing! Not everyone could come up with something like that. I think with that kind of cleverness, you’d easily be accepted into the Mort family."

All three blushed and smiled. Lin, however, looked at Aran’s friendly face, which masked a true demon.

"He did that skillfully."

...

That night, while Lin was sitting on one of the hills, the girl approached him and started a conversation:

"Beautiful, aren’t they?"

"What do you want?" Lin looked at the girl and asked immediately.

The girl paused for a moment, then sighed and began to speak:

"Actually, Wed isn’t as good of a guy as he seems at first glance... You know, he made me strip and do "those" things with him."

Lin showed no emotion and asked:

"And what are you trying to say with that?"

"Well, I’d like you to protect me..." she slowly began to unbutton her shirt.

Lin snorted coldly.

"You’d better leave before it’s too late."

The girl stopped unbuttoning and felt a strong fear as Lin’s words echoed. She immediately stood up and walked away, deciding she should try this not with that lunatic Lin, but with the simply strange Aran.

When she came to Aran, she told him the story about Wed and began slowly unbuttoning her shirt.

"Oh? So you’ve decided to solve the issue this way?" Aran looked at the girl’s beautiful body with interest and asked.

She smiled softly and began removing all the clothes she had on.

Aran smiled and didn’t stop her.

That night was an interesting one for him.

...

The next day, the group gathered around the campfire and began eating bird legs.

"By the way, where’s Kaely? She was supposed to bring us water." Wed looked around and didn’t see the beautiful girl.

"I don’t know," one of the guys shrugged.

"I haven’t seen her either," Lin also looked around and didn’t see the girl who had offered to sleep with him the night before.

He frowned and looked at Aran, who was sitting next to him — and noticed a red mark near his cheek.

Aran looked back at him and smiled softly.

Lin suddenly realized something, his eyes widened, and his face twisted in horror!

"No..."

"He couldn’t have eaten her... right?..?"
