Chapter 103: Inevitability for the Lord of the Time

Pitch-black darkness.

Silence covered this place.

A dark, gloomy corridor made of rough stone, lit only by wall-mounted candles that illuminated only a small section. On either side of this place were large iron bars, behind which — was complete darkness.

There were no sources of light that would give even minimal visibility into the interior of the cells, creating the feeling that there was a bottomless abyss there — without any end or edge.

And from that abyss came a man’s voice, clearly reporting the latest events here:

"Hey, old man... Did you hear they brought in an interesting person."

But no one answered him.

He showed no reaction and continued speaking:

"There was an interesting individual behind the arena. He had no name, no one knew his origin, but there was one thing in his personality that made many people tremble with fear — it was his power."

"He wasn’t a Mage and didn’t possess any Spiritual Talent, but he could show strength that shocked many Mages and made them feel fear..."

"Interesting, isn’t it?"

The dark corridor fell silent until a hoarse voice sounded from the opposite cell, clearly belonging to some old man:

"What’s his name?"

The man smiled and slowly replied:

"Void."

...

Amid complete darkness, a figure sat on the floor in a lotus position with closed eyes. He was clearly meditating due to the calm and rhythmic inhaling and exhaling, until he suddenly opened his eyes.

Bright, like precious gems — violet eyes pierced the cell and quickly scanned through the darkness, hoping to notice something, but saw nothing.

The young man sighed and slowly stood up to train his body.

"Who would’ve thought that even in the projection, I’d be taking part in some kind of spectator battles..." Lin slowly shook his head and began training.

About three days ago, Lin ended up inside this cell without any proper lighting. He knew nothing about this place and received no information to help him figure anything out, so he had to blindly piece together his situation and the location he ended up in.

For the last three days, he had occasionally been taken out of the cell and prepared for participation in the special Arena of Blood, where he fought against various people or creatures. Through this, he was able to roughly understand his situation and how the people here treated him.

The attitude, of course, was cold. All they wanted from him was a spectacular fight, where he would show his combat skills and nothing more.

Just like in Ilan’s fights.

Lin scoffed coldly and focused on filling his body with pain through training, while also thinking about recent events:

"I ended up in a not-so-great situation... I thought that after transferring into the projection — all six of us would end up in random places and have to survive that way. But everything turned out completely different."

"When I was transferred, I immediately ended up inside a dark cell, without my katana or clothes. I was wearing only: a brown tunic with pants full of holes... But that’s not the main thing."

Lin slowly stood up and began practicing various kicks and punches, continuing:

"In this place, they know me as Void. My real name and other information are unknown. Does that mean the six of us kept our bodies but took on different roles that existed in the Magic World? It seems that’s exactly the case."

Lin lifted his leg and kicked the air!

Whoosh!

Then quickly lowered it, turned his body, and kicked with the other leg!

Whoosh!

Lin continued practicing his strikes until he decided to stop. He slowly sat down on the cold floor and sighed.

"Out of all the possible places in the Magic World, I ended up inside the Arena of Blood..."

"I learned about it just recently, but already understood a lot. The Arena of Blood is a large arena inside the capital of the Kingdom of Noen. The Unified Capital — is a place where many different situations happen, and because of that, the Arena of Blood was built, where people could fight each other if they wished, without damaging the city or harming ordinary people." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"But also, it’s a place where various criminals are sent. They have to fight there and create entertaining battles, because if you don’t choose to kill someone — you’ll be killed faster."

Lin smirked slightly and felt like he had ended up in Ilan’s battles again, only at a more mature age.

"In any case — I need to get out of here. After all, beyond the arena’s great walls lies an unseen Magic World, which I should explore and perhaps obtain something. But for that, I need a clear plan..."

"They won’t let me out of here just like that. I’m most likely stuck here for life, until I die in one of the battles. So what should I do then?"

Lin fell deep into thought and remembered a conversation he had recently overheard.

"Someone mentioned that promising prisoners might be taken by some aristocratic family to be turned into warriors... That might be the only chance to escape from here safely. Because, even if I use my strength — the chance of escape is extremely small..."

"One way or another, I need to study everything more thoroughly, and then make a decision," Lin made up his mind and slowly lay down on the cold floor to rest a bit, as he had been extremely tired lately.

Soon, within a few minutes, he completely fell asleep without making a single sound.

...

After waking up, an unknown amount of time later, Lin decided to continue his training.

He had no other activities he could do in this place except train.

Just as he was about to begin his routine, Lin suddenly heard several footsteps approaching him.

"Looks like another fight..." Lin slowly walked up to the bars and looked to the left, seeing three people with candles in their hands.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Three people in knight uniforms quickly approached Lin and looked at him through the bars, illuminating part of his body.

Through Lin’s thin brown tunic, one could see his clearly defined medium-sized muscles. They weren’t large, but couldn’t be called small either. But Lin’s most distinctive feature — was his handsome face.

Unfortunately, he had no hair on his head.

He was bald.

A few days ago, all of Lin’s black hair had been removed, which threw him off a bit.

But he simply didn’t understand why they did it, until he got an answer.

It turns out, when new prisoners arrive at the Arena of Blood, they are shaved bald to track how long they survive in the arena. Since Lin had only recently arrived here, naturally, they shaved him too.

"Come out," one of the men said quickly to Lin.

Lin obediently nodded and quietly left the room, not wanting to cause any trouble for these people.

He just knew it would be pointless.

"A new battle is starting. One of the mercenaries wants to fight you to prove his strength. Get ready," they quickly put shackles on Lin’s hands and feet, ones that were nearly impossible to break, and led him down a dimly lit corridor.

"A mercenary?" Lin smiled slightly.

"Let’s see how strong he really is..."
