I Found a Door to the Elven Realm-Chapter 8: Almost Dying to a Stupid Slime
Also, what exactly do you mean by my profession?
If you mean a job or a game class, there’s no need to ask System Lady. Either way, my decision won’t change.
Of course, I will be a magician!
Eren had read and watched enough sci-fi and fantasy back on Earth. And as incredible as it would be to charge into battle as a Warrior or Berserker, magic was always his weak spot, like it was for any Earthling.
"I also need a white beard and cool white clothes. Hahaha..."
He could already see that beautiful future, the day he’d be hurling burning meteorites down from the sky.
...
While waiting for Emily to arrive, he looked around for other Slimes. He even found one, but he didn’t kill it right away.
He leaned his back against a tree, keeping the Slime in sight from a safe distance.
"Profile"
He looked at all his base stats on the screen that popped up and fixed on a spot that had caught his eye since the last level up.
[Agility : 9 + 1 > 10 (Requires 1 Evon Stat Points)]
[Do you confirm?]
"Yes."
Eren didn’t feel any change. Maybe raising his stats was just correcting the weak parts of his body, and since he’d been so physically handicapped until yesterday, these "improvements" were simply bringing him up to normal.
If he’d seen his body’s numbers back then, he would’ve realized just how bad it was and slipped into a depressive mood. But now that he was in a magical universe, with a chance to change everything, his mood was soaring.
[Congratulations. Agility: 10]
The screen faded away, leaving only the forest in front of him again.
He took a deep breath and stared at the distant Slime, wondering how the creatures’ stats change as they level up. Do they evolve by a single "point" like the normal creatures of this world?
He took a few steps and killed the little Level 1 Slime with a single knife strike.

Minutes passed. He got bored and started searching for more Slimes, but these little exp packs were getting harder and harder to find.
He kept drifting forward anyway, chasing every faint wobble and rustle, until he realized he’d wandered deeper into the forest.
Without realizing it, he just kept walking. His mind was busy doing mathematical calculations about his stats, and he didn’t even pay attention to where his feet were taking him.
After a while, he arrived near the point where he teleported to this universe last night. The spot looked ordinary, and that almost made it more concerning.
He slowed without knowing why, as if the air itself remembered him.
He didn’t notice the creatures watching him from between the trees, even with a Perception of 13.
If he’d spent even a second actually looking around, he would’ve immediately realized the trouble he was in.
But until yesterday, Eren was a supermarket worker on Earth, not someone who’d built the habit of scanning shadows for danger.
When he turned his head at the sound of leaves shifting, he caught movement between the trunks.
Then he saw them, Slimes sliding closer from multiple directions.
At first, a smile formed on his face.
Then he noticed the pattern, they weren’t wandering, they were closing in fast.
"They can move faster than the ones I killed before!"
He attacked the one that was slightly larger than the Level 1 Slimes beside him. The blade sliced through the Slime’s semi-liquid body, but it couldn’t kill it in a single blow.
After the second blow, Eren heard the voice inside his head.

His eyes flicked up from the dissolving mess at his feet. His heartbeat quickened as he noticed more of them around him, slowly closing the distance.
Instinctively, he shifted the knife into his right hand and tightened his grip.
He froze for a second when a Slime got too close and jumped on him.
"They can jump really high!"
The impact knocked the air out of him, and the burn started spreading under its body.
When he first saw the Slime that Emily had killed yesterday, he was frightened and stunned.
He was going through something similar now. Eren flailed, panic taking over, until pain snapped through him as the Slime latched onto his chest. He felt a burning sensation both in his chest and in his left hand as he tried to grab the Slime and tear it off.
Panic made his movements sloppy and too fast, arms crossing where they shouldn’t.
He was in such a hurry that he almost stabbed the knife in his hand into his chest or throat. After a few seconds of trying, he killed this Slime as well and hurriedly threw it to the ground.

The message flashed like a cruel joke when he was in pain. Then the forest filled his vision again.
Eren no longer had time to think about when he would cast meteor spells as he looked around at the many creatures approaching him.
He was glad that he had leveled up, but he didn’t even have time to look at his left hand, where he felt burning pain for the first time in his life.
His only thought was to avoid the Slimes that would jump on him.
He backpedaled, eyes flicking from one wobbling body to the next, bracing for another leap.
One got close, but instead of jumping, it only crawled toward his legs, contrary to Eren’s expectations.
But unlike this creep, another one jumped up and made Eren suffer again.
He brought the knife in his right hand close to his body and ran around, killing what he could.
Sometimes he got jumped once or twice because he wasn’t fast enough, and he struggled as Slimes tried to cling to his body.

...
Except for the first Slime that jumped and burned his chest, he killed three more Level 3 Slimes and five Level 2 Slimes.
After the announcement of the last one, he heard the robotic and somewhat feminine voice in his head again.
[Congratulations! You have reached Level 5.
All stats are +1.

He looked at his left hand and chest, both excited and frightened. He didn’t expect more than a simple redness or tiny burning.
But he was terrified by the sight. His neck rose and fell with a hiccup with sudden fear.
The skin on the back of his hand was red as if it had been severely burned. It wasn’t like a simple rash, but as if a weak acid had been spilled. His chest was worse. Most of his skin was either slightly molten or filled with bloody wounds.
"If I was even slower, that stupid creature could open my chest and burn everything down to my heart. Fu*k you slimes!"
[Status: Acid Burn (Moderate)]
[Warning: The condition will worsen without treatment]
"Just keeps getting better."
Eren didn’t like swearing. But right now he opened his mouth and cursed the liquid corpses that were mixing with the earth around him. He forgot about leveling up, stats or spells. He was just angry at these creatures that hurt him.
He saw only a Level 1 Slime sleeping among the trees. It had nothing to do with jumping High-Level Slimes from before. He immediately ran and tried to crush it with a single kick. Only in this way could his anger vanish.
But he couldn’t kill the little creature by popping it like a water balloon.
On the contrary, his foot got into the creature and it started hurting instantly.
"Scr*w you!"
With the knife in his hand, he killed the confused creature that was just sleeping. The innocent thing was stepped on and then stabbed. If it had a mouth, it would want to sue this barbaric human.
Breathing hard, he stumbled back, waiting for the rage to cool.
He shouted and kicked the tree next to him, then grew worried when the pain didn’t decrease even a bit. But though his wounds hurt, they didn’t seem to be getting worse.
In the next few minutes, Eren slowly calmed down and tried to look at the situation on the bright side. After all, he had learned that this universe wasn’t as innocent and benevolent as he thought and no creature should be underestimated.
"Level 2 and Level 3 Slimes can kill me if I’m weak or careless enough. Yeah, Slimes. What a joke."
The thought kept looping as he stared at the trees.
And even in the "safest" part of the forest, ten of them could surround me, and this was just the beginning area.
"Fantastic!"
After these thoughts, he remembered the things he had dreamed excitedly last night. He had plans to tame exotic animals and ride huge dragons. Maybe take giant skeleton workers with him on his way back to Earth.
A man could dream.
He was almost killed by a Slime just two minutes ago. But who cares about details, right!
Reality didn’t care about his dreams but he wouldn’t stop dreaming big.
Eren decided to run to the village.
Not only did he need to show someone his scars, but he also decided that he missed Emily.
The 24-year-old elf who looked like a Milf was very good at giving Eren the attention he needed.
Who knows, maybe if I say I can’t use my arms, Emily can dress in Maid clothes feed him.
His left hand and chest were on fire, and he had just been in danger of death. But the thought of Emily distracted his mind from focusing on the pain. And seconds later he whispered irrelevant things.
"I wish my girlfriend could be a little like Emily..."
When he involuntarily remembered his world, he sighed.
