I Cast Forbidden Spells Until the World Breaks-Chapter 102 The World Inside the Gate of Apocalypse
Zayne fell silent.
Even if John’s wife really was amazing, was it actually a good idea to say that in front of her husband?
Zayne suddenly felt that John truly had the patience of a saint. After all that, he still had not killed Double J. He had only thrown him in jail.
Standing beside John, Zayne also spotted a familiar figure. He recognized him instantly.
It was the tall, skinny guy from the Investigation Bureau holding cell, the one who had tried to kill him back then.
The guy clearly did not recognize Zayne through the Phantom Visage. He kept a cold expression and stood guard behind John.
After a few polite exchanges with Astrachior, John got straight to the point.
"Now that Astrachior is here, we should open the Gate of Apocalypse. We cannot afford delays."
John produced a mysterious key. Intricate patterns covered its surface, as if it carried the secrets of heaven and earth.
"No problem," Astrachior said with a faint smile.
He turned and gave Zayne and Double J a look.
They understood immediately and followed.
Watching the three of them walk away, a hint of concealed killing intent flashed in John’s eyes.
"Astrachior, why do I suddenly feel a chill down my back?" Double J shivered. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"That is normal," Astrachior said calmly, smiling. "After I played him, John would love to kill us on the spot."
The Apocalypse Ancient Key Astrachior had given John was fake. It naturally could not open the Gate of Apocalypse.
When John demanded an explanation, Astrachior had told him there was a restriction placed on the key. Only Astrachior himself could open the gate in person.
John knew Astrachior wanted a share of whatever was inside, but he had no choice but to swallow it.
They still had the advantage while the gate’s appearance was not public knowledge. Once the news spread, the Gate of Apocalypse would attract the strongest monsters on the board.
By then, they would not even qualify to step inside.
"Astrachior, do we need to bring out the real Apocalypse Ancient Key?" Zayne asked.
"No," Astrachior said with a smile, shaking his head. "You only need to get close to the door."
As they spoke, the three of them arrived at the stone gate.
Astrachior approached it, then deliberately put on a show. He pressed the fake Apocalypse Ancient Key close to the stone and fiddled with it.
At that moment, Zayne clearly felt the real Apocalypse Ancient Key inside his abdomen resonate with the ancient gate. It began to radiate a faint warmth.
The Gate of Apocalypse seemed to respond as well.
There were no earth shattering omens. No dazzling bursts of color.
It was like an ordinary door opening.
A deep, drawn out mechanical sound echoed.
The stone gate slowly parted, revealing a pitch black passage that seemed bottomless.
An ancient, mysterious aura rushed out, making everyone instinctively feel reverence.
The instant John saw the Gate of Apocalypse open, his eyes lit up. Even with his status, excitement and greed rose in his gaze.
This was the legendary Gate of Apocalypse.
The place that had once dropped seven Origin Relics.
Even true divine artifacts were worthless in front of Origin Relics.
That was why the war back then had been so horrifying. It had raged until the Origin Relics themselves were shattered, and only then did a brief peace follow.
"Astrachior, it is time to return the Apocalypse Ancient Key," John said coldly.
The class users behind him released dangerous pressure.
It was obvious. If Astrachior tried to keep the key, there would be a fight before anyone entered the gate.
"Of course," Astrachior replied, nodding. "The Apocalypse Ancient Key was always John’s."
He handed the fake Apocalypse Ancient Key back to John.
"Astrachior is indeed smart," John said, accepting it with a faint smile.
Then a shout came from behind, and John’s expression instantly froze.
"The Gate of Apocalypse actually exists in this world? Incredible!"
Captain K, the president of the Old Shipyard Port Adventurers Guild, appeared in the valley. Beside him was the vice president, Triple B, along with a group of class users.
John’s face darkened.
Having Astrachior show up to take a share was one thing. Why were the Guild people here too?
"You called them?" John demanded through clenched teeth, glaring at Astrachior.
"Does John think I would do something that stupid?" Astrachior raised a brow.
Astrachior was also confused.
Then he seemed to realize something. He glanced at Zayne, almost casually.
From a motive standpoint, the most likely person to tip off the Guild was Zayne.
If Astrachior planned to make a move against him, the muddier the waters, the better for Zayne.
This kid really was a little fox.
Astrachior’s expression turned slightly unpleasant.
"Hahahaha! Astrachior, John, what a coincidence!" Captain K laughed loudly. "You are here treasure hunting too? Why not let me join you?"
"Captain K," John said icily, "you did not lift a finger. You show up and demand a cut. That is not appropriate."
"Fair," Captain K said after a moment of thought. "Then our Guild people will take the lead. We will scout ahead for you. How about that?"
Only then did John’s expression improve.
No one knew what dangers waited inside the Gate of Apocalypse. If the Guild wanted to be the cannon fodder, he was happy to let them.
At this point, there was no better option anyway. Captain K would not leave empty handed.
"Fine," John said, swallowing his frustration. "We will do it your way."
"Hahahaha, thank you, John. Very generous!"
Captain K looked delighted. He led his people straight toward the Gate of Apocalypse.
As he passed Zayne, he gave him a look, but did not greet him.
Zayne acted like he knew nothing. Calmly, he followed behind Captain K’s group and entered the Gate of Apocalypse.
The black passage stretched deeper into the gate.
The world beyond was nothing like what Zayne had imagined. There was no bizarre landscape, no swarms of monsters.
Instead, everything was silent.
There was nothing at all. The quiet was so complete he could hear his own breathing.
After crossing the dark passage, another door appeared ahead.
This one was a metal door, only wide enough for a single person to pass through. Its surface was etched with modern circuit patterns that glimmered with faint light.
It did not match the surroundings at all. It looked like it had been ripped from another world and forced into place.
"Why is there another door?" Captain K and the others stared, puzzled. "Is this the real Gate of Apocalypse?"
They turned to John.
After all, the Apocalypse Ancient Key was in his hands.
John steadied himself, stepped forward, and pressed the Apocalypse Ancient Key against the door.
Zayne also cooperated, taking a few steps closer. He looked like he was simply curious about how the door would open.
As Zayne’s abdomen heated up again, the metal door slammed open.
A surge of intense light burst out, instantly illuminating the entire dark passage.
Everyone squinted, blinded by the glare. It took a while before they could open their eyes again.
When they finally saw what lay beyond the metal door, they froze on the spot, completely stunned.
"How can the world behind the Gate of Apocalypse look like this? That is impossible!"
