Chapter 507: Chapter 505 Red Idealists

With a loud explosion, the barricades set up by the rioters were once again blasted open, and the reinforcements’ advance remained unstoppable.

In fact, expecting a group of ordinary civilians to hold back the combination of Titans and Heavy Mechas is truly asking too much of them.

The Titans and Heavy Mechas, constructed entirely out of steel, are as unstoppable as main battle tanks, even requiring heavy firepower to destroy them on the battlefield.

In this riot suppression operation, even though Lucia’s rioters employed barricade interference and Molotov Cocktail techniques, they failed to hinder the reinforcements’ Titans and Heavy Mechas in any way.

What they faced were not cumbersome tanks; relying on Molotov Cocktails to burn the tank’s engine cooling vents was simply impossible.

For Heavy Mechas, Molotov Cocktails might stick and burn on them for a while, possibly even injuring the pilot inside.

But leading the way are two Titans specially equipped for this mission. Although they have been lightened for helicopter transport, they have also been retrofitted with shields large enough to cover the entire front of the Titan to protect their comrades advancing rapidly in the underground passage.

Though a civilian anti-tank miracle, Molotov Cocktails do little but add a layer of flame effect to the smooth shield surface.

The two Titans pushed aside various obstacles piled in front of them with their shields, opening a path while simultaneously aiming their shields at the opened gap.

Sure enough, two Molotov Cocktails were immediately smashed over, igniting the gap they’d just cleared and setting the ground ablaze. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

This wasn’t the first time the reinforcements had encountered such a situation. Their actions had been delayed by obstacles numerous times, only to be followed by Molotov Cocktails once the barriers were breached, a pattern encountered so often that the two Titans’ pilots were nearly conditioned to it.

The Heavy Mechas beside the two Titans stepped forward directly based on previous experience, launching stun grenades from their grenade launchers attached to their arms into the gap.

After a massive explosion and flash, the two Titans continued to push aside obstacles, and the four Heavy Mechas passed through the gap, proceeding with the soldiers following behind.

As for the rioters rolling on the ground, clutching their eyes and ears, they couldn’t be bothered to deal with them. They had encountered so many along the way; even the Lucia military, who had cooperated with them, had worn out their zip tie supply from capturing so many prisoners.

Thankfully, they simply left them on the ground; after all, they were only briefly stunned by the flashbangs, suffering no fatal injuries, and could get up after lying there for a while.

"How much further?" The Commander of the reinforcements nodded slightly, satisfied with the Titans’ breakthrough ability as they passed another obstacle, but was still more concerned about the mission status.

The soldier accompanying him quickly took out a map provided by Lucia, glanced at it, and pointed to the already exposed passage behind the obstacle, saying, "Once through this passage, there is only one more intersection left."

"Tell the comrades to move quickly and try to reach the target location before these rioters create new obstacles," the Commander ordered the nearby soldier, frustrated by the obstacles faced along the route.

If he weren’t mindful of being a Flame Country soldier and not a Federation soldier capable of casually harming civilians, he might have ordered the Heavy Mechas to switch to grenades and blast their way through.

One has to admit, there is a certain envy towards the Federation military; at least they can shamelessly and indiscriminately use lethal weapons against regular civilians without concern and lightly claim any casualties as accidental.

But as a Flame Country soldier, even in these post-apocalyptic conditions where the nation and leaders have defaulted to using heavy-handed measures in chaotic times, they still abide by their fundamental conduct and refrain from using lethal weapons on civilians, even if they are rioters.

This isn’t about being overly stubborn; it’s simply that as a military, Flame Country soldiers never massacre the innocent like the Federation army does.

Casting aside such unnecessary sentiments, the Commander ordered his troops to advance quickly; they were already near the medical research institute where the rescue team was trapped, eager to complete the mission quickly.

"That unit is breaking through too fast! We’ve set up seven obstacles, and they have bypassed them all. Now they’re only one more intersection away! Vasily, we can’t hold them back anymore!" yelled a bleeding Lucia man, barely covering it with a handkerchief, towards the negotiator who had previously engaged with the rescue team.

The negotiator known as Vasily furrowed his brows to the point of nearly knitting them together. He could guess that this unit advancing towards them was here to rescue those trapped in the medical research institute, but he had no choice but to organize his people, almost futilely, to stop them.

Though they had reached an agreement with the people trapped in the medical institute to assist in treating the wounded and provide food and water, he could not let the military through.

After all, they were rioters, and thus enemies of Lucia’s official stance; naturally, the military was also their enemy.

Negotiating with the hostages for medical assistance was one thing, but letting the enemy through was entirely another.

Vasily was quite clear on these matters.

Although the initial riot wasn’t significantly related to Vasily and his companions, they had stepped up to organize the rioters and restore order once chaos began to spread, making them peacekeepers of sorts.

Yet, according to Lucia’s official perspective, they remained part of the rioters’ camp.

For Vasily and his companions, however, they saw themselves more akin to the revolutionaries who overthrew Tsarist Russia and founded Suyia a hundred years ago.

Born after Suyia’s dissolution, they never experienced the Suyia era’s glory, but lived through Lucia’s darkest periods, hearing tales from their parents and grandparents of Suyia’s greatness.

This left them yearning for the old Suyia, believing Lucia’s current sufferings result from Suyia’s dissolution and a loss of the red faith.

They wanted to rekindle the revolutionary spirit on Lucia’s soil and let the red flag fly once more!

They believed that what their predecessors achieved a century ago could be replicated, and when that day comes, Lucia would surely be free from its current woes.
