I Can Upgrade My Talent Infinitely-Chapter 98: Fang Yun’s Method
Of the Five Peaks, Artifact Casting Peak was the one closest to the sect’s main gate.
When Fang Yun saw Lu Zefeng and Zhang Cailing, it was easy to tell they were returning from a mission.
Missions outside the sect, especially those that required leaving Celestial Cloud Sect territory, were generally highly dangerous.
Missions outside Celestial Cloud Sect territory also came with generous rewards.
From what Fang Yun knew of Lu Zefeng and Zhang Cailing, the pair had recently been taking on many missions in the Black Ghost Cave region.
"Junior Brother Fang! We were careless this time. Your Senior Brother Lu... he’s been injured."
They were still in a daze, and in the next moment, Fang Yun was standing before them.
Zhang Cailing reacted quickly. Lu Zefeng’s reactions, however, were sluggish, likely due to his severed arm.
"Was this the work of a disciple from the Black Ghost Cave?"
"No. It was probably a Loose Cultivator living in the Black Ghost Cave region. We haven’t confirmed his identity, but we’re certain he wasn’t a disciple of the Black Ghost Cave."
Anyone able to live long-term in the Black Ghost Cave region, whether a Loose Cultivator or a Cultivator from a minor power, would certainly be a practitioner of Yin Power.
"Junior Brother Fang, please take a look. Can the poison in this arm be neutralized?"
As she spoke, Zhang Cailing took out Lu Zefeng’s ice-encased arm.
In the Cultivation Realm, an Alchemy Master was considered at least half a physician.
By now, Fang Yun had read a great number of books on Alchemy and the properties of various Spirit Medicines. He genuinely had insight in this area.
Fang Yun peered through the ice, carefully examining the arm encased within.
Lu Zefeng watched Fang Yun with great anticipation, hoping he would have good news.
Fang Yun’s examination lasted for a long while.
"Senior Brother Lu, you’ve been afflicted with a type of yin poison. I can’t determine the specific kind." ’This is the extent of my knowledge for now,’ Fang Yun thought. ’I still have much to learn.’ "When you forced the poison into your arm and then severed it, the toxins had already spread throughout the flesh, not to mention the blood. The freezing method you used is quite common; it can only slow the spread, not stop it completely."
After a pause, Fang Yun continued.
"If I’m not mistaken, the poison has now reached the bone."
With the poison in the bone, saving the arm was beyond Fang Yun’s abilities.
Upon hearing this, Lu Zefeng’s expression darkened. If even Junior Brother Fang, with his exceptional skill in Alchemy, said so, it meant his arm truly couldn’t be saved.
"There’s no hope, then?" Zhang Cailing asked, refusing to give up.
"Well... with the right materials, I could refine this arm into a Magical Artifact." Pausing, Fang Yun glanced at Lu Zefeng and added in a comforting tone, "In a way, it would still be with you, Senior Brother Lu."
"That can be refined?"
Neither Lu Zefeng nor Zhang Cailing knew much about Artifact Refining.
"Theoretically, it’s possible. But the materials must be just right, and I can’t guarantee success," Fang Yun said, making no promises.
Refining the arm into a Magical Artifact would be an incredibly difficult task.
It was nearly impossible to refine normal flesh and blood into a Magical Artifact. The only reason Fang Yun dared to suggest it was that the poison saturating the limb actually created more possibilities for the refining process.
’It’s not easy to explain the principles behind it,’ Fang Yun thought. ’It involves the intricacies of Artifact Refining, which would take ages to explain, and they wouldn’t understand a word of it anyway. It would be a waste of time.’
"Senior Brother Lu, Senior Sister Zhang, you haven’t shown this to the Elders of Alchemy yet. They might have a solution. While I have a talent for Alchemy, there is still a significant gap between me and them."
"That’s right! We haven’t shown it to the Elders of Alchemy yet," Zhang Cailing said hastily, reminded by Fang Yun.
Lu Zefeng’s spirits seemed to lift slightly.
He immediately thanked Fang Yun.
"Thank you, Junior Brother Fang!"
Though a sliver of hope remained in his heart, he was already considering Fang Yun’s proposal.
"Thank you, Junior Brother Fang!" Zhang Cailing echoed.
"You’re both too kind. You should hurry to Dan Cloud Peak."
"Right."
After stowing the dark, purplish arm, Zhang Cailing led Lu Zefeng toward Dan Cloud Peak.
Fang Yun resumed his course, heading to Artifact Casting Peak to work on Artifact Refining.
Refining more Upper Grade Magical Artifacts would allow him to accumulate experience, preparing him to one day refine Spiritual Artifacts.
It all came down to the same thing.
Fang Yun did not want to waste materials meant for a Spiritual Artifact only to end up creating a supreme-grade Magical Artifact instead.
Upon arriving at Artifact Casting Peak, Fang Yun slowed his pace on the way to the Artifact Refining Rooms.
’That person ahead is an Elder!’
Inner and Outer Sect Disciples had their own uniforms, and naturally, so did Stewards and Elders.
The dark-skinned old man up ahead was one of the sect’s Elders.
"Greetings, Elder." Fang Yun offered a disciple’s salute.
"Mm."
The Elder glanced at Fang Yun and nodded.
’I can’t believe the Elder actually responded,’ Fang Yun thought. ’Normally, when I greet an Elder, they just glance at me at most.’
’This might mean the Elder knows who I am. Of course, it could just be his personality.’
’Some Elders are just naturally amiable.’
Fang Yun didn’t dwell on it and soon arrived at the rental area for the Artifact Refining Rooms at the base of Artifact Casting Peak.
When he arrived, he saw Steward Cai gesturing to him secretively.
At this gesture, Fang Yun immediately went over.
"Steward Cai, what’s wrong?"
"Fang Yun, did you see an Elder on your way over?"
"I did," Fang Yun nodded.
From Fang Yun’s expression, Steward Cai could tell he wasn’t familiar with Xiong Xingfeng.
Steward Cai whispered, "That was Elder Xiong, the Management Elder of our Artifact Casting Peak."
"Oh." Fang Yun acknowledged, then quickly asked, "Steward Cai, which of the upper-grade Artifact Refining Rooms are available now?"
Seeing Fang Yun’s nonchalant attitude, still asking about the refining rooms, Steward Cai wanted to laugh.
"You kid, are you really this clueless, or are you just playing dumb?"
’Huh?’
A question mark formed in Fang Yun’s mind.
’I’ve only been away a few days. How did I miss so much?’
"Alright, it seems you really don’t know." Steward Cai glanced outside before continuing in a hushed voice, "Elder Xiong is here, and it’s eighty percent likely he’s here for you."
Elder Xiong has personally come to inspect the use of the Artifact Refining Rooms twice recently.
He, Steward Cai, felt he had a slight understanding of Elder Xiong Xingfeng. Connecting the dots to Fang Yun becoming an Inner Sect Disciple, he quickly drew his conclusion.
"Me..."
Fang Yun pointed at himself.
"That can’t be right."
’If Elder Xiong was really here for me, why didn’t he say something just now? All he did was give a faint response to my greeting.’
’That’s not how someone acts when they’re looking for you.’
