I Can Tame Everything!-Chapter 17: Iron Snatchers III
Chapter 17 - Iron Snatchers III
"I don't know where your child is, you bit—"
The village head held a woman by the neck, his voice dripping with anger. Just as he was about to finish his sentence, the creaky sound of the caravan wheels echoed through the village, drawing his attention.
Rex and Darius, seated at the front of the caravan, saw everything unfold.
The village head's gaze snapped toward them, his eyes narrowing. "How are you... here?" he asked, his tone unsettlingly calm yet laced with curiosity.
"...And you also brought the kids with you, interesting," he said, a sinister smile spreading across his face. Realizing there was no reason to pretend, he tossed the woman aside without a second thought. She fell with a low thud.
Rex and Darius stepped down from the caravan, their expressions grim. Darius even looked scared a little.
Let's not show any fear, Rex thought, his golden eyes locking onto the village head's calculating gaze.
He straightened his posture, exuding an air of calm confidence as he stepped forward. Darius followed behind quietly, not knowing what else to do.
However, Rex's calmness seemed to have given an irk to the old man.
The old man, named Branick, sighed, a hint of resignation flashing across his face as his gaze dropped momentarily.
Then, without warning, he vanished from his spot...At least, that's how it appeared to the duo.
In the blink of an eye, Branick reappeared directly in front of Rex, his fist hurtling forward with all his strength. The punch connected squarely with Rex's face, sending him stumbling back from the sheer force.
The only thing Rex's eyes managed to perceive was the blur of Branick's hand, a fleeting shadow, just as the punch reached point-blank range...
He was sent flying backward, his body hurtling through the air before slamming into the side of the caravan.
Pain exploded through Rex's face, drowning his senses. The sharp, metallic taste of blood filled his mouth.
This was the most excruciating pain he had ever experienced.
His vision blurred as his body slumped against the caravan, drained of strength, as he was drifting into unconsciousness.
When...
"Arg..." Rex groaned as a small bolt of electricity jolted through him.
{Father, I want to kill that bad human.}
{Stop that lightning, or you'll kill me!}
The pain from the lightning bolts was bearable, but Rex refused to cry out. Unable to move his jaws.
He coughed wetly, spitting blood, and with it, a single tooth fell out, landing on the ground.
Ridiculous... that old man's punch feels like getting hit by a truck, Rex thought bitterly.
The only reason he was still breathing was because of the mana he had absorbed from the orbs, which had significantly strengthened him. Without the last two orbs from the bandits, he might have died on the spot.
Still slumped against the caravan, Rex slowly opened his eyes. Squinting, he barely managed to focus on the old man, struggling to make out the scene unfolding before him.
The old man had held Darius by the neck, lifting him effortlessly as he choked the life out of him. Darius flailed and struck at him in resistance, but to onlookers, it looking like a child throwing a tantrum.
So that's Ascender at 2-stars.
Rex pushed himself up with that thought, his steps unsteady but determined as he walked toward the old man.
His body mostly uninjured, but the searing pain in his jaw was like a needle stabbing relentlessly, making it impossible to move it.
{Whenever I give you the signal, attack him with your strongest skill}
The old man noticed Rex, a frown appearing on his face. "You... did not die from that attack?" he questioned, his tone dripping with curiosity and surprise as he loosened the grip from Darius's neck.
"Haha, a mortal like yo—"
{Now, attack him with all your strength.}
Screech!
The sudden, piercing sound froze everyone in their tracks, silencing both thoughts and speech.
All the villagers backed away.
Arcane rose from nowhere, her radiant form captivating everyone as they marveled at her splendor.
The glow of her feathers shimmered in the moonlight, an awe-inspiring sight that left the villagers breathless.
Yet, amidst the admiration, Branick's face darkened, his expression a stark contrast to the other villagers around him.
Three crackling lightning bolts floated like ethereal swords around Arcane, their glow illuminating her form against the night sky.
The display gave her a majestic and fearsome aura.
Without hesitation, Arcane unleashed the three lightning bolts at the old man with blinding speed, so fast that even Rex couldn't follow their trajectory.
Yet, the old man caught two of the bolts with his bare hands before they could fully sink in his body, However, the third bolt pierced straight through his body, emerging from the other side.
"AARRRGHHH!" Branick roared in pain. The lightning bolts, beyond leaving him heavily wounded, unleashed excruciating electric currents that coursed through his body, numbing him momentarily.
This was all Rex needed.
In a swift motion, he drew his daggers and plunged them into the Branick's heart. Blood gushed from the wound as Rex pulled the blades free.
The old man fell straight on his face onto the ground, lifeless.
"Cough... Cough..." Darius gasped, finally freed as the old man's grip loosened. Thankfully, none of the lightning had reached him.
Rex collapsed onto the ground, the pain crashing over him like a tidal wave as his tense nerves finally began to ease.

Yes, put him in Tamer's Sanctuary
Today was a rough day, Rex thought as his heavy eyelids drooped.
He hadn't gotten much rest since taming Arcane; the events had unfolded one after another.
Hopefully, it's all over now. He eased.
I'll just sleep hear; someone will treat me. His foggy mind reeled as he began drifting into unconsciousness.
When...
"Which kid brought that goddamn tiger beast into our camp?!"
A man shouted through clenched teeth, his voice dripping with deep hatred.
