I Can Talk to the Internal Organs-Chapter 156 - 129: The Five Viscera Call for Help! (Part 2)
It’s not his first time making herbal prescriptions, but he doesn’t have much experience treating children. Whether the formula from "Direct Formulas for Childhood Diseases" will truly be effective depends on the reaction of the little girl after taking it.
There’s certainly little problem with the medicine; the greatest reason for ineffectiveness could very well be an error in his diagnosis. However, given the current situation, his diagnosis can only go this far.
"Okay, thank you, Dr. Lu," Zhou Xiaolin said.
Lu Jiu then got up to prepare the medicine.
Diaphoretic White Powder is not complicated; it’s just three ingredients: lycium bark, mulberry bark, and baked licorice. After grinding them into a powder, add Japonica Rice and water to decoct.
After preparing the medicine and instructing Zhou Xiaolin on the details of decocting it, Lu Jiu inquired about the little girl’s daily diet. Finding indeed no other issues, he then allowed them to leave.
If it were an average adult, Lu Jiu would certainly be quite confident. But facing a child, Lu Jiu wasn’t very sure that the medicine would work.
"Next one, please."
"It’s my turn!"
An elderly man approached, cheerfully sitting in front of Lu Jiu.
"Dr. Lu, do you still remember me?"
Lu Jiu apologized with a smile, "Sorry, I’ve really forgotten. You are..."
The elderly man laughed, "It’s understandable, Dr. Lu. You see so many people every day. It’s normal not to remember me. Last time, you set up a table outside Li Daoqing Clinic, and I had you examine me... Oh, slip of the tongue, I listened to you share health knowledge and took a photo of a prescription."
Oh!
Lu Jiu recalled, "It’s you! I remember you were deficient in both Spleen Earth and Heart Fire; how did you feel after taking the medicine?"
The elderly man laughed, "I felt really good after taking the medicine. I fell asleep that same night and haven’t had insomnia since. My appetite improved a lot afterward, though drinking milk still makes me uncomfortable. I told the kids not to buy me any more milk unnecessarily. They stopped after learning I found it uncomfortable. However, these days, my chest feels a bit tight and pains at night sometimes."
"I thought it was nothing, that it would be fine in a couple of days. But after three consecutive days of discomfort, I had no choice but to find you, Dr. Lu."
Lu Jiu chuckled, "Alright, let me feel your pulse and see what’s going on."
The elderly man laughed, extending his hand, "Quick, take my pulse."
Seeing him so eager, Lu Jiu laughed and placed his hand on the man’s wrist, "Uncle, what do you go by?"
"Cao Aiguo," Cao Aiguo laughed.
Whoa!
That’s a creative name.
Super patriotic, huh!
Lu Jiu chuckled, as the voices of the Five Viscera echoed in his mind.
"Heart Fire, is the strength sufficient? Need another boost?" Fei Jin asked.
"It’s alright for now. I shouldn’t do too much, or the old man won’t hold up. Let’s take it slow; I’m already much better," Heart Fire replied.
"Recently, he’s been sleeping well at night, and I’ve stored plenty of blood. Otherwise, when push comes to shove, we’d be in trouble without any blood to use," Liver Wood said.
"Right, thanks to the previous doctor, I’ve regained a lot of function, and my circulation is much better now," Spleen Earth said.
"Let’s wait until around 1 PM when my power is restored. We can try again and flush out more of the stagnant debris," Heart Fire said.
"Okay!" Fei Jin said.
"Nephron, don’t just keep storing your essence. When you have time, transform it into blood so I can send it up," Liver Wood said.
"I really don’t have much left, the old man didn’t have much to begin with. How can I send more?" Hydronephrosis replied.
"If Heart Fire gets blocked and can’t receive blood, what good is hoarding all those reserves?" Liver Wood said.
"Yeah, we’re all brothers here!" Spleen Earth chimed in.
"Why don’t you ask the doctor? He’s examining the old man, isn’t he?" Hydronephrosis suggested.
"Hmm? Doctor? Wait a minute! Indeed! Heart Fire, I see that doctor now; he’s the one who helped the old man adjust last time," Liver Wood said.
"Doesn’t he communicate with us? Hey! Doctor, can you come out?" Heart Fire asked.
Hearing the Five Viscera’s call, Lu Jiu wasted no time and sprang into action.
After all, they had helped before, so this was a chance to return the favor.
"I’ve heard everything. Regarding Uncle Cao’s situation, I basically understand. It’s likely a small phlegm-damp obstruction in the cardiovascular system, right?" Lu Jiu said.
"Yes, yes, do you have a way to quickly clear this out?" Heart Fire asked.
"Certainly," Lu Jiu replied.
"Can you make sure he won’t have this issue again in the future?" Heart Fire asked.
"Well, there’s a way, but whether it can be done depends on Uncle Cao himself. I’ll explain it to him," Lu Jiu said.
"Doctor, then please hurry up and tell him," Heart Fire said urgently.
"Alright!"
Promising Heart Fire, Lu Jiu disconnected from them.
Then he turned his gaze to Uncle Cao.
"Uncle, your palpitations and discomfort, the purplish lips and nails, and rough pulse suggest phlegm obstructing your heart meridian. It’s not a serious problem; I can resolve it with a prescription. However, with the current season, there’s insufficient fire operation. Medication alone won’t suffice. I’ll teach you a method to prevent heart issues," Lu Jiu said.
Oh?
There’s a way to prevent heart issues?
Cao Aiguo immediately asked, "What method?"
Lu Jiu smiled, "Use your back to hit a wall!"
Use your back to hit a wall!?
Cao Aiguo was confused!
What kind of method is this for preventing heart issues?
Seeing Cao Aiguo’s puzzled expression, Lu Jiu took out a pen, removed the ink cartridge, and sprinkled some water into the hollow pen barrel. The water droplets clung to the inside of the barrel. "Look, this pen barrel is like your heart’s blood vessels, and the water droplets are like the blockages in your vessels. So, without relying on medication, how do you think these droplets can be cleaned off?"
Cao Aiguo thought a moment, "Just blow them away."
Lu Jiu shook his head, "If it’s your blood vessels, can you cut them open to blow on them?"
Cao Aiguo said, "Of course not. This blowing won’t work, and you can’t stick paper in to wipe it either. The blood vessels are inside the body, so you can’t really move them. How can you deal with this!"
Lu Jiu did not keep him guessing and said directly, "It’s simple, just flick it."
With that, Lu Jiu pressed his right thumb on his middle finger and flicked the barrel forcefully. The vibration caused many of the clinging droplets to fall, although some remained, they were much smaller.
Cao Aiguo was puzzled, "But blood vessels can’t be taken out to flick!"
Lu Jiu laughed despite himself, "Of course, you can’t take out blood vessels and flick them. But when you use your back to hit a wall, the vibrating force can penetrate through skin and muscle into the vessels. So, even without removing the vessels, you can dislodge debris this way. Once they’re not attached to the vessel walls, the blood flow can wash them away, and they’ll be expelled through normal bodily circulation. Do you understand now?"
