Chapter 108: Chapter 87: Reclaiming Living Space

Cold Qi resides between the original membrane of the small intestine and the network of blood, causing blood not to flow into the major channels, resulting in stagnation and accumulation over time.

This is a sentence from the Inner Canon of the Yellow Emperor, Chapter on The Discussion of Pain.

It describes the reason for the formation of stone tumors.

In the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, any solid Yin object originates from coldness.

Because heat promotes growth, while cold leads to stagnation.

Why do many cancer patients often experience high fever?

Because when cold and dampness penetrate inside, and Yang does not enter Yin, the Yang heat will dissipate externally, and at this time, cancer patients will feel dry heat in the head and body, but the hands and feet are very cold.

When the Yang has dissipated sufficiently, they will feel extremely cold, a chill that penetrates to the bones.

This is an expression of excessive deficiency of Yang Qi, and also a process in which cancer cells are transforming their living environment.

Cancer cells and normal cells are like two armies opposed, and local victories cannot determine the outcome of the battle; only by achieving overall advantage can one remain invincible.

And this overall advantage is the survival space!

Taking historical battles between Huaxia and various alien races as an example, why did nomadic tribes from the north always attack Huaxia territories?

Because in winter, the north becomes too cold to survive, and nomadic tribes have to migrate southward with their entire tribe, which inevitably leads to large-scale slaughter and plunder when they arrive.

Why?

Because they don’t lack people, only land and food; your existence only consumes their food, so massacre becomes the inevitable outcome.

The Southern agrarian civilization is fragile, and when faced with such nomadic attacks, it can only choose to unite and cooperate for self-preservation; otherwise, the consequences are extremely harsh.

Thus, Central Plains culture gave birth to the great unification of civilization because survival requires unity, and unity requires concentrating strength to accomplish great tasks, and in the face of natural and man-made disasters, there is a power to manage the nation’s resources in response.

This power is the imperial power combined with the county system, where the central and local governments each perform their duties, in orderly fashion and unified administration, thus enabling agrarian civilization to have a stable and sustainable development potential.

So, whenever a dynasty collapses internally, the borders often suffer alien incursions, and even in the latter days of dynasties, vast territories and legitimacies are sometimes occupied by aliens.

In other words, when you voluntarily abandon your survival space, something will always be eyeing your prized land.

The same applies to cancer.

Do you think you were simply unlucky that it found you?

No, it’s your excessive emotions and unhealthy lifestyle over time that gave it an opportunity, providing it with enough living space to camp in your body.

Western medicine addresses this by crafting a formidable mercenary force to charge into the center of the battlefield.

But local victories are fundamentally insufficient; without reclaiming the survival space, the rapid proliferation of cancer cells is unimaginable, completely unstoppable.

In such situations, traditional Chinese medicine does not seek aid from external forces because excessive reliance on external forces, once the body’s regime recovers, will render you like Fusang or the peninsula—an entity without sovereignty, perpetually exploited by external forces. Only by launching a revolution, replacing the old order with a new one, and restoring the functions of all organs fundamentally to reclaim their survival space bit by bit, can there be real transformation.

It’s like when a house becomes too dirty, attracting countless pests; Western medicine studies pesticides, while Chinese medicine cleans the house, opens windows for ventilation, and lets sunshine in. Once the environment is changed, the pests leave on their own without needing eradication.

Though easy to know, it’s hard to do; everyone knows that cleaning the house solves the problem, but how to clean, where to clean, the scope and strength of cleaning—all of these require the practitioner’s discretion.

If the timing and condition of the disease are not grasped accurately, it won’t just negate the treatment effect but may also stir up the pests in the garbage pile, causing chaos in the room, difficult to contain.

Actually, for issues like weaning lumps in a nursing mother, or initial menopause stages, Chinese medicine can easily address them.

For instance, for lumps in the breast, one dose of Four-Ingredient Decoction can turn residual milk lumps in a breastfeeding mother’s breast into refined blood, allowing it to flow down the Chong Meridian and be expelled as menstruation.

Menopause, also known as climacteric, is not difficult either; based on varying symptoms, remedies like Six-Flavor Rehmannia Pill or Celestial King Heart Supplement Pill can be used for regulation, with effects far superior to estrogen and no risk of cancer.

But saying this now is no longer helpful!

"So, Dr. Lu, how should my mom be treated?" Chen Muyao listened to Lu Jiu say there was a way, and her eyes gleamed.

"For now, we can only adjust for symptoms of Qi and blood deficiency, spleen deficiency, and weak stomach. Aunt Sun has undergone surgery and received radiotherapy and chemotherapy, deeply injuring her Qi and blood. Directly addressing cancer cells at this time would further damage her vital energy, substantially reducing the effectiveness of any medication."

"I will try to improve Aunt Sun’s sleep and appetite first. If there is recovery within a week, it indicates the treatment direction is correct. If not, as I said before, don’t give up; continue seeking assistance from other doctors."

"Whether Auntie has six months, a year, or can live out her natural life entirely depends on yourself. I can only play a supportive role, while you should not keep cancer constantly on your mind, as thinking about it every day won’t cure it. Why do so, right? Live happily every day, and when you can eat and sleep without pain, go on a trip with your family; who knows, like that couple, one day the disease might heal itself," said Lu Jiu.

Indeed. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

It’s incurable anyway, so why keep thinking about it every day?

When Sun Dan was in the hospital, the most relaxed moments were when she slept, because once awake, she felt nauseous, with body aches, and later she had incessant coughing, sometimes even coughing up blood.

She often thought, if sleeping was when she felt most comfortable, what then is the meaning of her life?

But when truly facing death, she felt fearful.

Out of fear, she couldn’t face this illness directly.

Now, Lu Jiu told her clearly that continued fear would lead to a quicker death.

Sun Dan began to ponder whether she should choose to let go.

But if feeling unbearable again when waking tomorrow, would she really be able to let go?

She didn’t want to ignore the advice; many doctors had told her not to worry about this illness, but when you’re constantly tormented by it, can you really let it go just by saying so?

"This medicine is the Digestive Strengthening Tonic, a prescription that strengthens the spleen and stomach. Take it after meals for three days first to see the effect." After grabbing the medicine, Lu Jiu handed it to Chen Muyao.

The Digestive Strengthening Tonic can warm the center and dispel cold, supplement Qi, and strengthen the spleen, while also clearing cold knots in the organs, lubricating the intestines, and helping with bowel movements.

Lu Jiu chose this prescription with modifications to regulate Sun Dan’s spleen, stomach, and bowel functions.

Being able to eat signifies energy intake. If the source of Qi and blood generation is resolved, deficiencies in Qi and blood are easier to adjust. Conversely, without strengthening the spleen and stomach, directly supplementing Qi and blood won’t be effective.

And after being able to eat, one must be able to expel waste, because only with input and output can nutrition be absorbed and toxins eliminated, preventing the body from accumulating more.

The Digestive Strengthening Tonic is just right!

Chen Muyao took the medicine handed by Lu Jiu, feeling slightly puzzled because there was so little of it; it felt very light in her hand.

In the hospital, she always bought medicine that came in several plastic bags. She had even seen some elderly people using large sacks to buy medicine, like they were buying in bulk.

Why was the medicine from Lu Jiu so little?

"Dr. Lu, can three days of medicine really be effective?" Chen Muyao asked.

"Take it first, remember, more medicine doesn’t mean more effective. The root lies in changing lifestyle habits. I’ve given you the medicine; now I’ll tell you what Aunt needs to do every day, remember: drink less water, only when thirsty, and try to drink warm water -- neither hot nor cold. As for meals, I estimate Aunt can’t eat much daily anyway, so keep it simple, mainly rice, and eat fewer vegetables, especially fruits and vegetables. Right, absolutely no eggs."

"Don’t think that the body needs protein and it enhances immunity, thinking you can eat it when sick. Little do you know, cancer cells also consume protein, and they will compete for it even faster than normal cells. Don’t eat dinner, even if hungry; then there’s exercise. In this season, more sun exposure is beneficial. If you can’t sleep well in the morning, get up and sunbathe, swing your arms, pat your shoulders, armpits, groin, popliteal fossa, and so on. Don’t use too much force, just a light pat."

"Do these things every day. I’ll check at the follow-up in three days. If I find Aunt hasn’t persisted, even if your appetite improves, I won’t treat you, because then you still don’t believe me. I will never treat patients who don’t believe in me, that’s a matter of principle, understand?" Lu Jiu said.

"Yes, Dr. Lu, rest assured, my mom will definitely persevere," Chen Muyao said.

"Alright then, go back for now. I need to see other patients." Lu Jiu gave a subtle gesture for them to leave.

"Um, Dr. Lu, how much is it?" Chen Muyao asked.

"Diagnosis fee is fifty, prescription is twenty-eight fifty, totaling seventy-eight fifty. Scan over there." Lu Jiu said.

What?

Three doses for twenty-eight fifty?

Chen Muyao expected it to cost at least a hundred or two.

She didn’t expect it to be so cheap!

The cost alone indicated to Chen Muyao that Lu Jiu’s medical ethics were undoubtedly high.

Maybe her mother really has hope to get better!

Thinking of this, Chen Muyao felt happy, though a wave of fatigue quickly washed over her.

These days, she hadn’t had a moment of rest, constantly on edge, fearing something might happen to her mom.

Now, seeing a glimmer of hope, her anxiety eased just a little. It was at this moment, as she finished scanning the code, her legs wobbled, and she almost stumbled to the ground.

"Yaoyao..." Sun Dan exclaimed.

In a panic, Chen Muyao steadied herself by grabbing a chair, managing to keep her balance.

Lu Jiu promptly left his seat, grabbed Chen Muyao’s wrist, and took her pulse.

Moments later, Lu Jiu released his hold, "It’s nothing, just lack of rest, but you do have some issues with your menstruation and, it seems, some lumps in your breast, right?"

Chen Muyao was taken aback, looking at Lu Jiu in surprise, her mouth agape, speechless.

"Yaoyao, you... you also have this?" Sun Dan said.

"Mom, it’s nothing serious, it’s benign, it won’t worsen, the doctor said so." Chen Muyao said.

"Really?" Sun Dan was skeptical.

"Really, if you don’t believe me, ask Dr. Lu." Chen Muyao said.

Sun Dan looked at Lu Jiu.

Lu Jiu responded, "It’s benign, don’t worry."

"As long as the body remains particularly healthy, it won’t be that scary."

Sun Dan shook her head, "No, Yaoyao, you still need to get rid of it, what if it turns malignant, we can’t risk it."

Chen Muyao knew Sun Dan had been tormented by this illness for years, she was scared, so she definitely didn’t want herself to get it as well. Thus, she looked at Lu Jiu, "Dr. Lu, can this be resolved without surgery?"

Lu Jiu smiled, "Of course, yours is much simpler, just one dose will do!"

After speaking, Lu Jiu went to the medicine cabinet to grab the medicine.

Chen Muyao looked at Lu Jiu’s back in astonishment.

Could one dose really resolve the breast lump?

How could it sound so incredible?
