I Can Replicate Martial Arts-Chapter 47 - 37: Didn’t Your Counselor Tell You?
Two other girls stood beside her, both exceptionally attractive.
"Long time no see. Going to eat?"
Zhao Rui replied casually.
"Mm. You ended up in the Accounting department?"
Luo Min asked, glancing with some surprise at the company sign beside them.
"Yep, the Accounting department!"
"Oh!"
A flicker of disappointment passed through Luo Min’s eyes, but she immediately smiled and said, "Well, you must be busy. We’re going to eat!"
"Bye!"
Zhao Rui smiled and waved goodbye to them.
Once the three girls had left, Jian Congsheng leaped up from the ground, his face alight with excitement. "Those were beauties from the Martial Arts Academy! And you know them, Zhao Rui!"
"Not really. Don’t get any ideas, Jian Congsheng. You’ll get beaten up!"
"Ha, as if!"
Jian Congsheng chuckled slyly, his gaze lingering on the three departing girls for a long time.
’Imagine having a girlfriend who’s a Martial Arts Student. How impressive would that be?’
"Come on, let’s go eat."
Le Bin tugged on Jian Congsheng, and the group started walking off the athletic field. As they neared the gate, their pace suddenly slowed to a crawl. A dense, dark mass of people was crammed into the exit.
"Why couldn’t they just open a bigger gate?"
The massive athletic field had only a handful of small gates. With so many people funneling out through the narrow exits, it was bound to get congested.
"Let’s just take it slow."
Just as everyone was following the person in front of them, slowly shuffling forward, a commotion arose from the outer edge of the crowd.
Then, they heard someone whisper, "It’s the students from the Martial Arts Academy!"
It was as if the words had an effect; the crowd ahead of the newcomers quickly and unconsciously parted.
Seeing this, the leader of the group—a handsome young man with bright eyes and a prominent nose—smiled and said, "Martial Arts Students have to line up just like everyone else, you know!"
Then, he announced in a clear voice, "It’s crowded, so let’s all form an orderly line! The more we push, the slower we’ll all get out!"
Though his words were polite, the crowd surprisingly fell into order upon hearing him, and people began to file out quickly.
"He’s so handsome!"
The young man’s actions drew the attention of many of the girls, their eyes lingering on his group for quite a while.
With someone keeping order, the congested line thinned out quickly, and Zhao Rui was able to leave the athletic field without any trouble.
After a short break for lunch, the military training continued into the afternoon.
The same exercises under the same scorching sun.
For the freshmen, the tedious and boring daily routine of military training had begun!
After a hard day of training, they weren’t required to practice drills at night, but they weren’t allowed to return to their dorms to rest either. Instead, each company had to put on talent shows and participate in singing competitions.
The one thing Zhao Rui’s accounting major didn’t lack was girls, which gave them a natural advantage in this regard.
He didn’t need to participate much at all; he just had to sit back and enjoy the show.
To be honest, there were plenty of beautiful girls in the department. They came in all shapes and sizes, or at least each had her own unique charm.
They weren’t dismissed until nine o’clock that night.
Zhao Rui made an excuse and, without even changing his clothes, rushed to the small grove where he had practiced the day before.
’It felt a bit wrong to play the villain and break up the lovebirds,’ he thought, ’but the place was quiet and secluded, with dense woods—a perfect spot for training.’
He jogged across campus until he reached a secluded spot. With a single bound, he vaulted over the perimeter wall, took a shortcut off-campus, then leaped back over from another side, arriving right outside the grove.
Just as he finished scanning the area, picked a sturdy-looking tree, and leaped up, aiming for one of its branches...
A bolt of Powerful Qi tore through the air, fast and accurate, heading straight for a vital point on his leg.
Startled, Zhao Rui reacted with incredible speed. He executed the Lianyun Peak technique from the Taihang Thirteen Palms, using his hand to pull himself up on the tree trunk. His body shot up several feet in an instant, narrowly avoiding the attack.
"Huh!"
Seeing that he had dodged the attack, two figures emerged from behind a nearby tree trunk.
The newcomers were men in their thirties or forties. Their power was clearly restrained, yet they carried an imposing, ready-to-strike aura as they moved. They were clearly no ordinary people.
Zhao Rui’s eyes narrowed. He took a defensive stance, ready to flee at a moment’s notice.
In the moonlight, the two men glanced at Zhao Rui’s military training uniform, and the serious look in their eyes vanished instantly.
One of them spoke in a scolding tone, "What class are you in, freshman? Didn’t your advisor tell you that you can’t practice your techniques in the common areas?"
Hearing this, Zhao Rui instantly understood and said sheepishly, "My apologies, sir. It won’t happen again!"
"Won’t happen again? Which Martial Dao class are you in?"
The speaker had a round, fair face, a high-bridged nose, and a large mole right between his eyebrows!
"Sir, I’m not in a Martial Dao class. I’m an accounting major, from Class Two!"
Zhao Rui scratched his head and added, "So nobody ever told me about this!"
"The Accounting department?"
The teacher with the mole frowned, advanced with a weaving step, and struck out with his palm at Zhao Rui.
Zhao Rui retreated to block, his feet moving in a complex pattern to evade the man’s attack.
After a few exchanges, the teacher withdrew his Palm Force and said with some dissatisfaction, "Your Power is quite impressive. Why didn’t you enroll in a Martial Dao class? Not interested?"
"Sir, I was only at Level 4 during the college entrance exams..."
When Zhao Rui said this, the two teachers understood. They nodded and said, "Our university doesn’t forbid students from outside the Martial Arts Academy from practicing martial arts. However, they are still subject to the Martial Arts Academy’s regulations."
"Here’s what you do: after the military training is over, come find me on the tenth floor of the campus administration building to get registered..."
"Thank you, sir!"
’Zhao Rui was secretly delighted. He had been planning to find the right teacher to consult after military training ended, and now he had a direct contact. This was perfect.’
"Alright, hurry back and get some rest. Remember, if you want to cultivate, go over to the Martial Arts Academy area."
"Thank you, sir."
With that, Zhao Rui turned and, with a few bounds, ran out of the woods.
"If I catch you here again, I’m docking ten points from your year-end assessment!"
"Got it, sir!"
The voice echoed through the quiet woods, startling many birds, which flapped their wings and took flight.
"That kid!"
The teacher with the mole smiled at his companion, and then the two of them left the woods.
...
’So you can’t just use Cultivation wherever you want in the common areas.’
After leaving the woods, Zhao Rui didn’t linger. He bought a drink from a small, still-open shop on the roadside and took two long, satisfying gulps.
’The school probably has these rules to protect the privacy and safety of ordinary students. After all, the personal power of those who can get into Dongqi University’s Martial Dao program is, compared to ordinary people, frankly terrifying.’
’Since I can’t practice my Cultivation on campus, I’ll have to go off-campus.’
’But it’s already late, and lights-out is in an hour. If I went out, I’d have to come back almost immediately.’
So, Zhao Rui gave up on the idea of going out and returned to his dorm.
For the next few days, military training continued as usual.
The training exercises shifted from simply standing at attention to drills like ’at ease’ and marching formations.
Different activities, same old tedium.
On the fifth day, after they had finally learned to jog in formation, the drill instructor announced some news.
In the morning, they would do a five-kilometer run with light packs to a nearby military base to experience a taste of real army life.
The announcement was met with a mix of excitement and anxiety. Everyone was excited about visiting a military base, but they were also worried—a five-kilometer run was a real challenge for the average person, even in light gear.
But it was an order from the university, and they had to obey whether they liked it or not.
And so, at a little after one in the afternoon, Zhao Rui’s company, along with five other nearby companies, left the campus at a run.
The long five kilometers was a huge drain on their stamina. They were only two kilometers off-campus, and already the side of the road was full of students with their hands on their hips, panting for breath.
The run was trivially easy for Zhao Rui, but he couldn’t just sprint ahead on his own.
According to the rules, the entire group had to arrive together for it to count.
Not a single person could be left behind.
Watching the students, one after another, with hands on their hips or clutching their stomachs, especially the pampered young women, the drill instructor couldn’t help but shake his head.
Just then, a girl’s face suddenly went pale. She swayed for a moment before collapsing to the ground, giving the students around her a fright.
The drill instructor and the faculty advisor rushed over. They gave her a quick look-over but didn’t dare move her rashly.
Seeing this, Zhao Rui hurried forward and said, "Instructor, I have some knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine. Let me take a look."
Hearing this, the faces of both the instructor and the advisor lit up, and they hurriedly told Zhao Rui to give it a try.
