I Can Give Talents-Chapter 317 – Unexpected Visitor
Chapter 317 – Unexpected Visitor
After the celebration, Barbara didn't waste time and began laying out her plan to experiment with various kinds of energy using Ava's body, starting with the most basic way humans get their energy: consuming food. Since Ava's spiritual sense magnification could even visualize the energy, it helped Barbara's research a lot.
From then on, Barbara subjected Ava to numerous energy experiments.
Sometimes, Ava couldn't help but feel she had made a mistake offering her body because Barbara was relentless in conducting her experiments.
But since she had promised her friend, she wouldn't go back on her word.
---
Returning to the present time.
Ava and Barbara were currently experimenting with energy from demonic cores. They had left the mine and returned to the mansion because Barbara didn't want the energy-rich atmosphere there to affect their experiments and yield false positive results. They now worked in a spacious chamber converted into a laboratory filled with equipment that Barbara brought along.
Some time ago, at the center of the island, Ava found a huge jungle where many high-level demonic beasts thrived. So the jungle became the hunting ground for Ava to obtain demonic cores for the experiments. Before the Demonic Anaconda, she had already hunted many high-level demonic beasts in the jungle.
Ava didn't mind at all. Ever since she could cultivate again, her mind had been at ease. She didn't feel like rushing her body cultivation anymore.
Since finding the spiritual vein a year ago, her strength had surged, her body cultivation revitalized by the vein's soothing energy, and her breakthrough in mini-dantian transfers. Hunting was no burden; it was a joy. After months without combat, pummeling demonic beasts felt exhilarating, each strike a reminder of her renewed vitality.
Furthermore, she had learned a lot during the many experiments with Barbara, as it helped her understand the concept of energy and its many forms even more. Among the many forms of energy, she became particularly interested in one form and had already planned to train it to be one of her main attacks.
But it wouldn't be completed anytime soon, as she would need countless practice sessions. After all, this would require the countless mini-dantians in her body to work together.
---
On a night after Ava and Barbara finished conducting an experiment using the anaconda's demonic core.
"Barbara, we've been here for a year. How do we get off this island?" Ava asked, the topic suddenly crossing her mind while looking out the window in the mansion's bedroom.
Barbara lounged on a sprawling bed, its silken sheets a luxurious contrast to the mansion's austere stone floors. She had pulled the bed from her space ring, a treasure trove of household comforts she had packed for their years-long sojourn in the Mystic Realm. Sleeping without a proper bed was unthinkable to her.
"Hmm…" she mused, her voice lazy as she sank into the mattress. "For now, I don't know. I can make a simple boat, but the demonic beasts in the lake would target us. I don't think we can fight them in a small, weak boat. We need a big, strong ship to cross." Her tone was matter-of-fact, her fingers idly twirling a strand of hair as she considered the problem.
"Do you think we'll be stuck here forever?" Ava asked again.
"I don't think so."
"Really? So, how do we get out?"
"Hehehe… we can, but it might take a long, long time."
"How?" Ava's eyes narrowed, her hands planting on her hips.
"By cultivation, of course," Barbara said, her grin widening. "We have a spiritual vein here. We can cultivate to a very high realm, and then we cross the lake by force. If demonic beasts attack us, we can beat them easily, no matter how many. Maybe we can even ignore the flying prohibition by then and just fly away from the island. So all we have to do is cultivate diligently." Her words were brimming with optimism.
Ava blinked. Right, she hadn't thought about that. With time, she and Barbara could reach realms high enough to defy the lake's demonic beasts or the Mystic Realm's flight restrictions. They might be stuck here for a long time, but certainly not forever. Relief washed over her, though a nagging concern surfaced.
"What about the portal, then? If you're above the Core Formation Realm, you wouldn't be able to cross."
"Well, that would be a problem the future me needs to solve after we find the portal. That's what I'm here for to begin with, studying the portal. But it might get delayed for hundreds or thousands of years, though. Hehehe."
Ava pouted, crossing her arms. "How are you still so carefree while talking about this topic? It is depressing, you know."
"Hehehe." Barbara chuckled. "That's because I have you with me. If I were alone, I might not have the mental capability to endure this. I'd probably go crazy."
Ava became silent. If she were alone, she might go crazy too. But her craziness would be different from Barbara's. She might have gone on a rampage and caused mayhem on the island.
The room went silent for a while.
Suddenly, Barbara's eyes widened, her body tensing. "Wait! I sensed something!" she exclaimed.
"Huh? What?" Ava quickly spread her spiritual sense around the mansion, alert for possible danger.
"I sensed bloodline energy fluctuation! It's coming toward us!" Barbara panicked.
Bloodline energy? Don't tell me, an awakened demonic beast? Shit! Ava became nervous. If a commander-level or above demonic beast targeted them, there was no way they both could fight it.
"Barbara, we need to run!" She shouted, her voice urgent.
Ava was about to grab the shivering Barbara and run randomly for survival when, at this moment, a male voice cut through the chaos, calm and faintly amused.
"Excuse me, you are human Ava Clover, right?" freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"Huh?" Ava's momentum faltered, her built-up energy misfiring. She stumbled, sliding across the polished stone floor with an undignified skid, her hands flailing for balance.
Meanwhile, Barbara, who was on the bed, stopped shivering and was surprised by the voice as well. Who? She asked inwardly.
The next moment, she saw a cloud entering the room through the window.
"Huh? The bloodline energy… it came from this cloud?" Barbara said, her voice a mix of shock and curiosity, her scholarly instincts flickering through her fear as she studied the anomaly.
Ava stood up again and saw the cloud in the room. She stared at it in confusion. Her instinct told her the cloud wasn't dangerous.
"Kekeke. Yes, I'm not wrong. You are indeed human Ava," the voice said again, its tone playful.
Human Ava? Why did this cloud call me like that? And… how did it know me?
"Are you a sentient cloud?" Ava asked.
Barbara, regaining some composure, interjected, "Ava, that's a demonic beast. I sensed bloodline energy fluctuation from it."
Ava blinked. "This is the demonic beast? This is clearly a cloud."
"Kekeke!" The cloud's laughter rippled through the room, light and mischievous. "This young human lady is right. I am a demonic beast. To be precise, a King Level demonic beast based on your classification."
"WHAT? King Level? That's supposed to be higher than the General Level!" Barbara exclaimed in shock. She couldn't fathom what was happening right now.
Ava frowned. Why was an existence stronger than a General Level demonic beast looking for her? She couldn't help but feel nervous.
"Ahem… Let me introduce myself. My name is Lapin Blanco, and I'm a Celestial Cloud Rabbit. I came here specifically to find human Ava. Ah, right, this cloud is my bloodline ability; I'm not here myself."
"A Celestial Cloud Rabbit? Is that your bloodline lineage? But why are you looking for me? How did you know me? Do you know anyone from the Leyan Family? Did you come from that colossal tree?" Ava launched a barrage of questions.
"Calm down, calm down. Human Ava, be patient. I will answer your questions. Firstly, yes, Celestial Cloud Rabbit is my bloodline lineage, and I'm not from that tree. How did I know you? Kekeke. I've met your sister, human Anda. We had an agreement, and here I am, fulfilling my part to look for you. Your other sister, human Lilian, I already found much earlier, and she has already reunited with human Anda. Now I've found you, so it's only human Valenia and human Leyvi left," Lapin explained.
Anda? Ava was shocked. However, she must make sure that what he said was true first.
"What proof do you have for your claim? You don't expect me to believe you outright, right? It's possible you're a Commander Level demonic beast who uses tricks or other humans who kill people and stole their identities to lure us into a trap!" Ava said.
"Ehhh? It's tricking us? How dangerous, I believed him right away," Barbara squeaked, her fear resurfacing as she ducked behind Ava.
Ava rolled her eyes at Barbara's naivety. She had a feeling the cloud wasn't lying, but it wouldn't hurt to be more careful.
"Huh? Proof?" Lapin, relaxing in his abode, enjoying carrot tops, was taken aback. He didn't expect to encounter this situation. How should he provide proof to her?
Lapin quickly recalled his encounter with Anda and Lilian and tried his best to describe their appearances and personalities. After that, he described the pictures Anda had shown him in detail.
