The monks nodded and departed.
Elder Kuyun picked up the blood-stained Handkerchief from the ground, then looked toward a patch of shadows and smiled. "Since Lord Shen is already here, why continue to hide?"
Shen Bai had been enjoying the show, taking in the entire affair.
Shen Bai’s eyes narrowed, especially after seeing Elder Kuyun make his move.
His display of power was so impressive that Shen Bai felt an urge to test his own skills against him.
But Elder Kuyun’s words came next. Knowing he was exposed, Shen Bai didn’t bother hiding any longer and stepped out of the darkness.
Shen Bai stroked Amber, nestled in his robes, and smiled. "No one has ever been able to see through my Hidden Technique. I’m surprised Elder Kuyun pierced my concealment at a glance."
Elder Kuyun shook his head. "Not quite. Were we anywhere else, I would not have noticed you. It is only because the Buddha’s Light is so strong within Xuanxin Temple that I was able to perceive your presence. Lord Shen, you have a wide array of abilities. I am humbled."
Shen Bai gripped the hilt of Cold Moon at his waist. "This isn’t where the Buddha’s Six Wheels are hidden, is it?"
Elder Kuyun paused, slightly surprised. "What do you mean by that?"
Shen Bai said coolly, "If someone could get past the Observatory’s guards, then the Xuanxin Temple’s guards, and make it all the way here... it certainly wouldn’t be two small fry like them. Add to that your timely appearance, Elder Kuyun, and I’d say you were fishing."
A smile spread across Elder Kuyun’s face as he understood. "Lord Shen is truly perceptive. You are correct. We discussed this with Lord Jian beforehand. It was a deliberate ploy to draw out any enemies from the Wild Buddha Sect and ensure the event’s safety."
"The Wild Buddha Sect?" Shen Bai asked. "Are they similar to the Wild Taoist Sect?"
Shen Bai had heard of the Wild Taoist Sect while dealing with the Upper Evil Sect. Now that a Wild Buddha Sect had appeared, he guessed they were of a similar nature.
