Chapter 48: Oscillators and Shield Bullets

The sun sat down slowly, casting its warm glow as Kairos still thinking about that.

Kairos let out another deep sigh. Taking out his pocket watch.

"It’s almost time," he uttered. It was almost 6. The time scheduled for him to meet the guide.

In the last few hours, Kairos wandered around the academy, trying to calm himself. Wasting time wouldn’t help, whatever that was, he would have to face it sooner or later.

And all truth lies within the 20th floor. He had to reach it as fast as he could and had to prepare thoroughly.

The being invited him on its own. But it didn’t mean it was friendly to him. What if he has to fight it?

For that he has to prepare. Prepare thoroughly and get stronger. Just where he was heading now.

To the guide.

Kairos reached the entrance of the academy before heading out, following the left road and reaching the place he was supposed to come.

5th alley. Glem Tower.

Kairos’s eyes furrowed a little as he questioned. Was this really a tower? 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

The Glem Tower. What it claimed to be looked more like a shabby building. It was wider than it should be, with the bricks being covered in moss and vines slowly taking it over.

It was only three floors high, with its wide body and those odd-looking dark red tiles. It looked very odd.

"Did he make a mistake?" he wondered.

He chose this person only based on one thing, His name, Theon Marvik.

One of the magician, Part of the Lotus Army that made Cartalia the queen of Velmor and Valdas.

He walked up through the old wide stairs. The bricks and the walls were covered with moss. He reached the second floor, like the first floor, the red gate was locked, indicating it hadn’t been used for a long time.

Finally after a while, he reached the first floor. This time at least the red gate didn’t have a lock.

Tidying himself a little, he knocked on the door.

Almost instantly, the sound of a lock moving. Then the door opened wide, revealing a man in his forties with brown hair wearing a black eye patch.

Kairos’s eyes flicked a little bit. ’So it’s really him.’

The man smiled, "Come, come, to this side. I have been waiting for you."

The man gestured, stepping aside. Karios nodded. "Thanks for the..."

Walking in, giving a glance at the interiors. Multiple bookshelves were placed around the walls, circling a big table with all kinds of magical instruments neatly organized.

Kairos was amused seeing it, but he didn’t show it, thinking, ’He really gives his all.’

They didn’t meet a lot of times in his last life. But the few times he met. That was enough for him to know what kind of person he was.

He was the laziest person within the mage unit. And seeing such neatly organized books, he was sure.

He did it a while ago just for him.

"Come here and sit down." Thepn gestured with a smile at the side. Where a leather cushion was placed there.

Nodding, Kairos sat down; Theon also did a moment later, bringing up some tea. Kairos didn’t such thing; he took the cap, taking a sip.

It was quite refreshing.

Theon smiled, putting down his cup. Kairos also did so. It was time to talk some business.

"I’m Theon Marvik; it’s a pleasure to meet you."

Kairos nodded. "The pleasure is mine."

He took out some tattered books and scrolls. Kairos looked at them, thinking.

’Yes, the very thing I’m here for.’

When a guide takes a student, he’s obligated to give the student his research manual and Mana theories.

As a price for them being able to use the facilities provided by the academy. Also a chance for them to show their research through the student. And if they shine, their research might get introduced at the hallmark of sigils!

The sigil library. Thus, it was also an opportunity for them.

Theon looked at him, slowly opening one of the scroll.

Kairos leaned forward to took a look.

"This is the elemental oscillator. It’s a hybrid sigil that combines the raw force of two. When activated, it creates a controlled vortex of the element. It’s ideal for mid-range combat. Can be used when at the second circle. Stability being 65%"

Kairos nodded, looking at it. This was a good combination of elements for the third. And through this type of oscillator, one can still combine them.

They were useful, arming mage units making them have the combat power of circle three. Also, stability meant the combined success of others’ sigils. Lower the stability, lower the number of sigils one can combine with it, and 65% was something considered a medium level.

We’re also pricey for that reason. But that wasn’t what he was looking for.

Seeing Kairos, just looking at it with a flattened expression. Theon panicked a little.

If a student doesn’t like the guide, they can always complain and get another one.

He can’t let that be!. He put aside that one, slowly revealing the next one.

Theon opened the next one slowly, revealing the next sigil unit.

"This is a set of combinations of two variations. I named it shield bullets. It basically reduces the size of mana shields, which can be used as bullets. There are no requirements for this one " He spoke with some pride.

Kairos was finally interested. Yes, this was one of the ones he’s looking for. The very sigils he came for. But that wasn’t what he was here spatially for. There was something else.

"This is one of my masterpieces. You will like it very much," he spoke.

And opened the scroll a little bit more. Revealing the full details. Kairos’s eyes shine right away as his gaze falls onto it. Yes, this was the thing he came for.

Theon Marvik is a fourth-circle magician. He never had the chance to break through the fifth circle. Still, he was a figure he and others took into consideration.

And that was this. This very sigil.
