I Can Claim Daily Rewards-Chapter 191 Meeting The Acting President
The high official's words made the acting president's face turn serious. Manuel Chavez didn't think of this because he believed that Lieutenant General Rivera was a righteous person. "The commanding general has been loyal to the country. There is no need to suspect him. You should be careful with your words next time." He warned in a stern voice.
The high official turned silent at his words, but the other officials revealed different kinds of expressions. With the emergence of the zombie virus, society has collapsed and the people were forced to do extreme things to survive. Some resorted to theft, while there were also people who killed others for their benefit and survival.
At this moment, the government's power was declining and not everyone was willing to listen anymore.
The hearts of the officials also started to waver and the thought of becoming the leader of this new world was very tempting for them.
Various thoughts flashed in everyone's mind.
Looking at their faces, the acting president had a foreboding feeling.

It took almost half a day before the horde was completely eliminated. There were still some wandering zombies, but they weren't a threat to the shelter.
The army returned to the shelter and the acting president even personally welcomed them. He then brought Conrad and Cedrick to his office to have a chat with him.
"I'm beyond grateful for your help." Manuel Chavez laughed heartily as he invited the two commanders to sit.
"We are only doing our job." Cedrick calmly replied while adjusting his glasses.
"By the way, for how long are you guys planning to stay here?" After his interaction with the high official earlier, the acting president was worried that chaos would erupt once the army left the shelter. He wanted to try if he could convince them to stay in the shelter.
Conrad didn't say anything so Cedrick answered. "Our task is to protect the shelter. The boss didn't say when we will return, but it should be until the wall of the shelter is built."
Hearing this, Manuel Chavez heaved a sigh of relief. The construction of the wall would take a few months to half a year. It was enough time for him to recruit more soldiers and consolidate his authority. The only issue was the lack of weapons and equipment. Thinking about this, he stared at the two military commanders and cleared his throat. "What is your boss' motive for helping the shelter? The battle earlier must have used up a lot of your ammunition and with the collapse of society, production of weapons and military equipment will be difficult. Why is he willing to waste his resources to help us?" He asked with a calm expression.
Conrad frowned upon hearing this. He wanted to say something, but Cedrick prevented him from speaking.
"If you want to know the answer, follow us back to our base." Cedrick replied in a cold voice. Although he respected Manuel Chavez, he was already loyal to Arlan.
To their surprise, Manuel Chavez readily agreed. "Then let's depart now."
"Give us some time to inform the boss. We will also ask for a helicopter to fetch us." Cedrick said before he left the president's office with Conrad.
Looking at them leave, Manuel Chavez leaned on his chair and sighed. "What will happen to this country? The high officials are starting to show their desire for power and now there is an organization that is stronger than the government." His head hurt the more he thought about this.
Two hours later, a Black Dragon Assault Helicopter arrived at the shelter to fetch the acting president.
It was already nighttime when they reached Last City.
Manuel Chavez was stunned when he saw such a developed city on an island. "So this is Last City..." He mumbled.
After landing, Manuel Chavez jumped down the helicopter.
"Welcome to Last City, Mr. President." Lieutenant General Rivera welcomed him with a smile. There were also two more military officers behind the general and they warmly greeted the acting president.
"It's nice to see you again, general." Manuel Chavez shook hands with the commanding general as they exchanged pleasantries.
"By the way, thank you so much for sending an army to help the shelter. The millions of citizens are safe because of your timely response." Manuel Chavez sincerely said.
Lieutenant General Rivera smiled at his words. "It is the military's job to ensure the safety of the people. Mr. President, Mr. Roa is waiting for you in his office. Let me take you there."
The acting president turned serious as he nodded his head. "Alright." He was finally going to meet the mysterious boss who subdued the commanding general.
They headed to Arlan's office via limousine, a vehicle worthy of his identity as the acting president of Maharlika. After fifteen minutes, they arrived in front of a gated mansion with dozens of armed guards patrolling the area. The security in this place shocked the acting president. Even his current residence in the shelter wasn't as well-protected as this place.
"We're here. Follow, me. I'll take you inside." Lieutenant General Rivera brought the acting president inside the mansion. The armed guards saluted the commanding general when they walked past them.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
After knocking on the door, Lieutenant General Rivera pushed it open. He then made a 'this way' gesture to the acting president. "I won't follow you inside, Mr. President."
"Thank you." Manuel Chavez nodded his head at the commanding general. He then took a deep breath before he entered the room.
As soon as he walked inside, he saw a man sitting calmly behind a desk. He looked young based on his facial features, but Manuel Chavez couldn't determine the man's age accurately.
Arlan lifted his head and smiled at him. "Good evening, Mr. President." He stood up as he walked towards Manuel Chavez. He then took the initiative to shake hands with the man. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
"The pleasure is mine, Mr. Roa."𝚋ed𝚗𝚘𝚟e𝚕.𝚗et
