Chapter 669: Sentience II

Achilles looked at the entity ahead with eyes that perceived far more than surface details.

His Architect’s Perception activated without conscious effort, the underlying structure of this strange Grimoire revealing itself through weavings of differentiation and undifferentiation that composed its existence. Information crystallized before his awareness.

Entity Identified

Name: THE Lexicon of Unspoken Endings

Lineage: Mutated Antediluvian One

Classification: Anomalous Factor Entity, First Tongue Variant

Approximate Power: Upper Absolute Depth, approaching unknown threshold

Description: An Antediluvian One is a being that may have existed during the age of differentiation and undifferentiation. This entity emerged and survived by binding its awareness to linguistic constructs that predated language itself, becoming a living repository of words that were never meant to be spoken.

Anomalous Factor: Connection to THE First Tongue through primordial linguistic weavings. Capable of unraveling existence through utterance of words that predate differentiation. Current state suggests recent emergence from dormancy within The Existential Lattice, forcefully awakened by the cancerous construct’s expansion.

Warning: Entity displays signs of cognitive instability.

...!

Achilles processed this information with curiosity overwhelming his initial impulse to simply consume this creature. An Antediluvian One was something he had never encountered, a being from before the current age of existence entirely, or would have been if it Observable Existence was not stunted. Its connection to THE First Tongue made it even more valuable than the Absolutes he had been hunting.

The Grimoire’s leather face studied him with eyes that held exhaustion beneath the panic.

"Oh, you’re actually a fucking sane one."

Relief flooded its strange features, pages settling into calmer fluttering.

"Hey man, what the hell is going on? I just gained consciousness and really, everything seems to be shit. Corrupted monstrosities everywhere, some cancerous growth spreading through existence, two Absolutes trying to eat me the moment I woke up." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Its face twisted into expression resembling existential despair.

"Maybe I just need to go back to oblivion again."

...!

Achilles looked at the Lexicon with expression holding genuine curiosity beneath his typical calculation.

"Out of all those I have met within this place, you are the first one to actually communicate and not try to kill me immediately."

The Grimoire’s leather face twisted into something resembling bitterness, its pages fluttering with agitation that seemed almost nervous.

"I am obtaining as much information as I can from the surrounding existence, but nothing makes sense."

Its eyes darted around the devastated region before settling back on Achilles.

"What is this Existential Lattice? Why did the authorities of Observable Existence move to cause my emergence? Why does everything feel so wrong, so corrupted, so fundamentally broken from what existence should be?"

The book showed a lot of emotions for something made of leather and pages, frustration and confusion and something approaching distress bleeding through its strange features.

Achilles smiled toward it

"An outsider from outside Observable Existence came in and initiated the cancerous growth that is The Existential Lattice across our reality. I guess I can thank him for your emergence."

His purple-gold eyes hardened slightly.

"But he is also the reason why so much corruption is currently taking place."

...!

The Lexicon adopted a heavy look at these words, its face settling into contemplation that seemed ancient despite its claim of recent awakening. It floated upward and looked around at the shattered crystalline structures, the corpses of the Absolutes it had killed, the pulsing biological walls spreading corruption in every direction.

"With the little that I know since I have not been alive for long, I understand that this cancerous thing is a net negative for existence."

Its voice dropped lower, gravitas entering its tone.

"The corruptions and mutations arising from it will eventually eat this place from inside out. The fabric of Observable Existence itself will degrade beyond recovery if this continues unchecked. Even though Observable Existence is still too strong to be affected completely."

Its leather face twisted into something resembling determination.

"If anything, before I return to the glorious light of oblivion, I would want to erase this Existential Lattice and the one who made it."

Achilles laughed at such words, the sound echoing through the devastated space with genuine amusement.

"Join the club."

His transformed body radiated authority that made the surrounding corruption pulse in response.

"But if you are sane enough to hold conversation and share goals, I am moving against that Outsider as we speak."

He paused, letting the implication settle.

"I could always use another."

...!

He could always use another shield.

But he didn’t say this as he stared at the face of the floating Lexicon with expression holding nothing but earnest invitation.

The Grimoire looked toward him cautiously, its ancient eyes evaluating him with perception that came from existing before complexity itself emerged. Whatever it saw made its pages flutter with consideration, weighing options that its newly awakened consciousness was still learning to process.

THE Lexicon looked over to him, its leather face settling into serious evaluation.

"My weavings tell me you are a Primordial Architect. Are you powerful? What are your chances against that invader Outsider you mentioned?"

Achilles looked at this being and shook his head without hesitation.

"As of now, abysmal. He is approaching THE Second Scale of Existence again, which is the reason why he built this Lattice in the first place. I have to move quickly if I want any chance of stopping him before he reclaims what he once possessed."

...!

His words made THE Lexicon thoughtful, pages fluttering with contemplation. The book with a face looked at him seriously after several moments of consideration.

"I did find a place that may have good stuff to make one stronger. Before those two Absolutes attacked me, I sensed something deeper within this construct that made run the fuck away though..."

Its eyes narrowed with warning.

"Do you want to try? Just don’t become crazy and try to eat me, or I will fight back!"

...!

A place with good stuff?

Achilles’s purple-gold eyes shone brilliantly, the archaic crimson tattoos across his skin pulsing with anticipation!
