Sometimes, one needed to pause and look at something again and again just to make sure it was right.

Achilles did this for the information of Defined and Undefined Assimilation, reading through the prompts multiple times as his transformed consciousness processed implications that seemed too vast to be real!

The first thing he did was turn around to observe Apatheia itself.

The Distorted Primordial Realm that had held and contained Chaos this whole time stretched around them in all directions. Obsidian seas churned with Primordial Authority that was now flowing outward through the tear they had created, mountains reformed endlessly in the distance, and storms of pure possibility raged across horizons that refused to remain fixed.

Was this something he could Assimilate so long as he had enough information about it?

For this or anything else, he needed clear knowledge of what he was attempting to Assimilate. Understanding of its boundaries, nature, and composition. Sufficient Depth to impose his authority upon the target and make it yield to his Way.

There were so many possibilities swirling in his mind as he turned his attention toward this Primordial Realm as a potential target for his newly awakened capability.

The information that buzzed in his mind was grand as he looked at it for a moment. Thirty-four percent was far from the ninety required, but the path forward was clear. He simply needed to understand more about Apatheia before he could consume it entirely.

He turned to Rose.

"Rose."

He called out to his queen beside him, her stellar obsidian form radiating authority that exceeded anything she had possessed before their transformation.

"Let’s map out as much of this place as we can."

He simply said these words without explanation, and Rose didn’t need one. She understood his intentions!

Her eyes pulsed and radiated rays of obsidian Chaos that stretched outward like searchlights scanning the surrounding expanse. Then, with motion that seemed almost instinctive, obsidian wings of Chaos erupted from her back.

They stretched out endlessly, spanning distances that should have been impossible for physical appendages to achieve. Each feather was composed of pure Chaos, darkness that contained infinite possibility rather than simple absence of light. She took liberties to try out her new Jötunn form with enthusiasm that made her earlier experiments with Corrupted Growths seem tame by comparison.

Achilles did the same.

His own wings emerged with weight that pressed against reality around them, stellar obsidian constructs that radiated hunger alongside Chaos. His transformed eyes blazed with light that could perceive the composition of everything within range, and his entire being oriented toward the task of understanding Apatheia completely as both of them began to move.

Achilles thought about the region that had allowed him to devour the largest number of THE Surface Depth entities. The place where he had been impaled through the chest and nearly killed before learning to become the apex predator rather than the prey.

He had mapped it completely through combat and consumption without even realizing he was doing so!

His eyes flickered with possibility as really, at this moment in time, his entire visage looked otherworldly. His stellar obsidian skin blazed with Chaos that pulsed beneath the surface. His wings stretched outward with hunger that seemed to encompass everything within perception. His Depth radiated with weight that exceeded what Intermediate distinction should permit.

And his actions were about to be even more otherworldly than his appearance.

He had come far.

In the past, when he began to Assimilate, he had held the grand thought of Assimilating Existence itself.

The first step on a path that led toward consuming reality in its entirety.

He spoke lightly, almost casually, as if he wasn’t attempting something that no being in Observable Existence had ever accomplished before. His voice carried the weight of his Intermediate Depth and the hunger of his Way and the authority of his partial Claim to Chaos.

He didn’t even have to be within The Blind Depths so long as he had the information about it. He simply carried out Defined and Undefined Assimilation from across the vast distance that separated Apatheia from Tian.

He even had a body within The Cavern of Existence past The Blind Depths!

Tian.

This Realm was composed of many areas that served different functions in the maintenance of Observable Existence. The Nine Seas, the floating mountains, the rivers of golden authority, and of course The Cavern of Existence where entities proved their worthiness.

But at this moment, something unprecedented occurred.

Above a region filled with murky gray and immense silence, above the oppressive darkness that had tested many entities across eons of trials, stellar illusory obsidian jaws appeared.

They manifested from nothing, massive beyond comprehension, their teeth shining stellar obsidian that radiated the same Chaos that now permeated through Tian’s transformed skies. The jaws looked like endless chaotic weavings given form, hunger made manifest in dimensions that defied conventional measurement.

They hung above The Blind Depths for a single moment, long enough for any entity observing to feel terror that transcended rational thought.

And then they chomped.

BOOM!

The massive obsidian jaws descended with force that reality itself couldn’t resist. They closed around The Blind Depths with finality that spoke of absolute consumption!

An instant later, the murky cloudy lands below disappeared!

Consumed into the existence of someone who had decided that entire regions of reality were simply another thing to be Assimilated!
