Chapter 633: Existential Changes! I

The idea of releasing Primordial Chaos across Observable Existence may have seemed far-fetched to others, an impossibility that no sane being would even attempt. But it was actually something far easier than expected.

Well, it was considered easier if one already had a Claim to Chaos and they just so happened to be within the one realm that contained all concentrations of Chaos in Observable Existence. The door wasn’t locked from the inside. It had simply been waiting for someone with the authority to turn the handle.

Now Achilles was not at all modest when it came to his continued Assimilation of the Chaos all around them. The concentration here was so ridiculously potent that he continued to endlessly open up the pores of his existence, drinking in Primordial Authority that had been trapped since differentiation completed.

The concentrations of Chaos he had within him grew denser and more concentrated with each passing moment, actually exceeding even the one who held the full Claim to Chaos.

Rose held the Claim, but he held the capacity.

And as he did it, he continued to feel the Depth of his existence become grander and grander, his Intermediate Depth compressing further toward limits that his category shouldn’t be able to contain.

As he was doing all of this, Rose looked out across the expanse of obsidian stellar brilliance that surrounded them on all sides. Her transformed features held contemplation that seemed almost out of place given the magnitude of what they were about to attempt.

"From dying in a hospital bed months ago, to now doing something that affects all of Observable Existence."

Her voice carried weight that mixed wonder with acceptance.

"You’ve taken me far, Little Fatty."

...!

Rose said such words as Achilles looked at her, wanting to tell her that the only reason he was standing where he was standing was also because of her. That she needed to know they were where they were because she stood by his side. That without her, none of this would have meaning regardless of how much power he accumulated.

But she already began to move before he could speak.

At this moment, she raised her hand and struck out as if she was swinging down a blade toward fabric that should never be cut.

Her stellar obsidian arm descended with immense effort that made her entire transformed body tremble with exertion. She was squeezing and applying pressure to Existence itself, forcing reality to bend in ways that were far too grand for her Depth and immensity to demand. Her muscles strained beneath skin that blazed with Chaos, and veins of pure obsidian light emerged across her form as she pushed beyond what she should be capable of achieving.

The weight she was trying to move required authority she didn’t fully possess.

But she did it regardless.

Because she had to.

Seeing the terrifying effort that she was going through, watching her struggle against limitations that threatened to collapse her existence entirely, Achilles went forward without hesitation. He put his hand on hers, his stellar obsidian fingers interlacing with her own as he applied his immensity and weight alongside hers. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Both of them spoke out at the same time.

"OPEN."

HUUUM!

Their voices overlapped as if their combined words were the intent and immensity of Chaos itself given verbal form. The authority of a full Claim and a partial Claim resonated together, creating Weavings that exceeded what either could produce alone.

In the next moment...

RIIP!

In this region of Apatheia, a tear formed in the very fabric of the realm. It looked like a tear on a page within a book that should never have been torn, a violation of containment that had held since before Observable Existence learned what containment meant.

And the moment it was torn, the entire Primordial Realm began to tremble and distort as if a point of pressure had been exposed after eons of building compression. Whatever had been accumulating since the moments of differentiation could now be released through the gap they had created.

And...

BOOM!

Immense waves of concentrated Chaos began to rush through the gap with force that exceeded anything Achilles had ever witnessed. Primordial Authority that had been trapped for longer than time had existed poured through the tear like water breaking through a dam that had held back an ocean.

At this moment, even at the Depth that Achilles and Rose held, they actually couldn’t fully and truthfully perceive how this whole process was occurring.

Achilles felt like he needed to be at a stage far above Intermediate or Fundamental Depth to understand it. He had to have reached the stage of Absolute Depth to truly perceive what he was currently seeing, to comprehend the mechanisms by which Chaos spread across dimensions and permeated through layers of reality that he couldn’t even sense.

Because even though to him and Rose it felt like they were watching an endless stream of concentrated Civilizational Authority gushing through a tear in reality, there should be something even grander occurring that they could not perceive. The change they had initiated would be spreading across all of Observable Existence through channels and pathways that operated beyond their current understanding.

They had opened the door.

Now Chaos would do what Chaos did.

---

At this time.

The Seas of Tian began to tremble.

Golden waters that had flowed in serene patterns since before the Age of Collapse suddenly churned with disturbance that had no apparent source. The rivers of pure Civilizational Authority that connected the Nine Seas rippled and shuddered as if something was passing through them, something that belonged and yet had been absent for longer than memory could account for.

The hazy white-gold brilliance of Tian, that pristine radiance which had defined this Primordial Realm since its discovery, began to change.

A deep obsidian color bloomed at the edges of perception.

It spread slowly at first, dark tendrils weaving through golden light like ink dropped into clear water. Then faster, the obsidian permeating across everything it touched with hunger that seemed almost eager after eons of imprisonment.

In the First Sea, Abzu, the figures of THE Corpse Hierophant and others rose up in shock as they felt their surroundings transforming around them. Their recovered Surface Depths, so painstakingly restored through labor in these Seas, trembled beneath the weight of something they couldn’t identify.

"What is this?"

THE Corpse Hierophant’s voice emerged with alarm that he couldn’t suppress, his empty eye sockets blazing with obsidian light that hadn’t been there before.

THE Slumbering Genesis roared with confusion as verdant authority flared defensively around his massive form. THE Sovereign Catalyst’s liquid-metal features rippled.

None of them understood what was happening!

None of them could.

In the Ninth Sea, the visage of THE Resplendent Paradox appeared from depths she had not left in eons. Her contradictory features held shock that seemed almost impossible given her ancient nature, her paradoxical eyes fixed upon the obsidian tide spreading across everything she could perceive.

She looked out with expression that combined recognition and disbelief in equal measure.

In the next moment, the Serpent eating its own tail appeared beside her, its obsidian form manifesting with speed that spoke of desperate urgency. When it saw the permeating obsidian light spreading across Tian, when it felt the Primordial Chaos that should have been its birthright flowing free at last, it howled!

The howl held grief and rage and loss!

Years of effort. Eons of waiting. The Claim it had nursed and protected and failed to fully grasp.

Now being enjoyed by others!

And everything began to change.

The golden Seas darkened with obsidian that promised transformation rather than corruption. The crystallized Phonemes that had floated serenely through Tian’s atmosphere began vibrating with new waves as Chaos introduced possibility into their previously stable configurations.

Observable Existence would never be the same!
