I Can Assimilate Everything-Chapter 611: Days Within The Depths! III
More than an hour had passed since Achilles began delving into The Cavern of Existence.
"How does it feel?"
A sense of accomplishment bloomed in his Existence as he looked at Rose, who currently emanated pristine and silent waves of power at THE Surface Depth. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
The transformation that had taken him desperate measures and impossible circumstances to achieve had come to her through their connection, through the weight he had shared and the authority he had channeled into her being!
She looked different now...well, just slightly. Copper-green luminescence wrapped around her form like living fire that had learned to burn without consuming, THE Civilizational Authority of Alchemy responding to her presence with recognition that it had never shown THE Sovereign Catalyst.
Her fiery green hair moved with currents that existed only in the realm of transformation and transmutation, and her eyes held depths that seemed to contain formulas too complex for conventional comprehension.
Those eyes were ones of utter surrealism as she processed sensations that her previous existence could never have imagined.
"The sensation is different..." Her voice carried weight that pressed against reality around them, each word heavier than it had been before her elevation.
"I can truly say I can see now. And anything I say, if I put enough weight behind it, becomes what... an Assertion?"
...!
Achilles smiled and nodded with pride at her rapid comprehension.
"Yes. You make an Assertion to the surrounding Existence as a Surface Depth entity, and if your power is heavy enough and what you are asserting isn’t too grand, Existence will take a look at it before it comes to fruition." His purple-gold eyes sparkled with warmth. "Like..."
Achilles looked around at the radiant blue waters of Thalassara surrounding them, the relocated Sea stretching in peaceful serenity that contrasted sharply with the horrors his other body was currently facing.
He put his Depth into his voice and spoke with conviction that carried the weight of his achieved distinction.
"The waters of Thalassara shall transmute into liquid gold for the span of three breaths."
HUUM!
Reality considered his Assertion. It examined the claim, weighed the authority behind it, assessed whether the request overreached the bounds of what a Surface Depth entity could reasonably demand.
And then it agreed.
The blue-gold waters surrounding them shimmered and transformed, their color shifting through spectrums that shouldn’t have existed as they became genuine liquid gold that flowed with the same currents and waves as before. For three heartbeats, they floated in a Sea of precious metal that caught light and reflected it in patterns of impossible beauty.
Then the effect faded, and the waters returned to their natural state as if the transformation had never occurred.
Rose watched with shining eyes that reflected the wonder she had just witnessed.
"We are gradually achieving levels of power that I couldn’t have even imagined before." Her voice held contemplation alongside awe.
"As we do all of this, I wonder... up to what point can we sit back without a sense of hurry or urgency?" She tilted her head thoughtfully. "I mean, there isn’t truly any urgency right now, since we don’t know the state of THE Corpse Hierophant and others. But can you imagine? Studying THE level of power while spending our days in utter peace?"
Her eyes glimmered with teasing light as she continued.
"I’ve given you two children already. I can always give you more, you know?"
She floated over and settled behind Achilles, their backs touching as they both faced outward toward the wonders surrounding them. The contact was comfortable and familiar.
Achilles nodded at her words as he felt her warmth against his back.
"I know. Peace is great, but peace has to be earned." His voice carried weight of someone who understood that tranquility was luxury purchased through strength. "This time around, the big thing we’ve gotten from The Groundskeeper is the idea of the Oldest Paradox of Existence. Four fundamental aspects of reality that apparently predate everything else, each one offering power beyond what even THE entities have achieved."
He paused, considering possibilities that stretched before them.
"I have no problem taking things slow and not making any enemies. I’ll be even more comfortable once the state of THE Corpse Hierophant and others is ascertained. In the meanwhile, we can just enjoy the wonders of reality." His hand reached back to find hers.
"I can do for the Eighth Adrastia Emperor King and Seventh Adrastia Emperor King and all the others what I did for you, forcefully giving them Depth to Assimilate. No deadly battles, no fights to the death, just steady advancement through shared resources."
It was a glorious possibility.
Rose laughed ruefully at his optimism.
"Ah, Existence always has a way of stepping in and causing something though. Nothing ever stays peaceful for long when you’re involved." Her voice softened with affection despite the teasing words.
"But never mind that. While the rest of us relax here, you continue to struggle in that Cavern of Existence." She turned her head slightly toward him. "Should I also give a cryptic answer to The Groundskeeper and try claiming one of the other aspects of the Oldest Paradox of Existence?"
...!
Achilles turned around to look at Rose as he smiled teasingly, his expression shifting to something playful that contrasted with the serious conversation they had been having.
"Mmm... you would at most fit with Chaos with how crazy you can be."
BOOM!
Around Rose, power buzzed with sudden intensity as her eyes sharpened dangerously. THE Civilizational Authority of Alchemy flared in response to her emotional spike, copper-green flames erupting around her form with heat that would have been lethal to anything below THE distinction.
"Crazy? Little Fatty, it’s been a while since you called me crazy." Her voice dropped to tone that promised retribution. "Hey, Little Fatty!"
Before she could fully erupt with whatever punishment she had planned, Achilles had already disappeared from their position, his figure shooting across the Sea of Thalassara with speed that only THE entities could achieve.
Rose gave chase immediately, her newly achieved Depth propelling her after him with fury that was partly playful and one part genuinely indignant!
