Achilles lay on the ground of the Blind Depths with hole through his chest slowly closing as his enhanced regeneration worked to repair damage that would have been permanent for most beings. The obsidian light in his eyes pulsed with power that had not been his moments ago, and his Existence hummed with new capabilities that transformed this hostile environment from death trap into hunting ground!
It was an odd sensation to have your Existence impaled and torn apart by another Way of Existence, the feeling of something foreign piercing through not just flesh but the very foundations of what made you who you were.
But as Achilles fully Assimilated the Malformed Collapsed Existence, all that damage and pain faded away as he felt the sheer excitement and weight of his cells buzzing with newly acquired power.
"Fucking hell..."
He couldn’t help but curse as the experience was still no fun despite the rewards it had yielded. Getting skewered through the chest and nearly ripped in half was not something he wanted to repeat anytime soon, even if the consumption afterward made the suffering worthwhile.
And he couldn’t stay here for long. His survival instinct screamed that more were converging on his position, drawn by the disturbance of combat and the death of their kin. Right away, he began to move on with purpose that refused to acknowledge the lingering ache in his recently healed chest.
His eyes scanned everything nearby as after the Assimilation, many more things had cleared up in his perception. The absolute darkness remained, but it no longer felt quite so absolute to senses that had learned new ways of perceiving.
He couldn’t hear sounds in any conventional sense, but he felt like he could perceive vibrations. The subtle tremors of movement through solidified space, the ripples of Existential resonance that organized consciousness created simply by existing. It was as if he was utilizing some ancient form of echolocation.
With sharp and steady eyes, he went deeper into this place.
The goal was to cross through to the other side and eventually gain the right to lay a claim on Existence itself, but he did so steadily rather than rushing headlong into dangers he couldn’t fully perceive. Another body of his was already in motion, bringing Rose and THE Endless Dream toward Tian as the pure Civilizational Authority there was very conducive to elevating the power of Pre-THE entities like Rose toward THE distinction. And THE Endless Dream could raise her power even more in that environment, building upon her recently restored foundation.
When things were a bit more clear, when the immediate dangers had been assessed and addressed, the other Adrastia Emperor Kings could also make their way to Tian for similar advancement while he...
Well, he would do the dirty work.
And dirty it was as he had to stop in the next moment, his newly acquired survival instinct screaming warning before his limited vision could confirm the danger. A few inches ahead, the ground simply decided to give up, falling away into an endless abyss that his perception couldn’t find the bottom of.
Flying across this space was nigh impossible with the heavy weight pressing down on everything, and any sound could draw others to his position. Alongside all of this, the darkness made navigation treacherous in ways that went beyond simple inability to see.
TKK! TKK!
His legs felt a twitch from the right side, vibrations traveling through the solidified atmosphere with clarity that his new senses interpreted instantly. When he turned, he only saw endless darkness stretching in all directions, but he could instinctively feel that another Malformed Collapsed Existence had found him.
His eyes flashed with immensity as determination settled into his Existence.
This time, there would be no impaling him. He would Assimilate as much as he could from a distance, his expanded range of 1.5 miles giving him reach that the creature couldn’t match. By the time the Malformed Collapsed Existence arrived inches from him, it may very well be on its last breath, weakened and diminished by consumption that began long before physical contact was achieved.
He would turn this treacherous place into a hunting ground and slowly advance until he did what no others could do before.
The vibrations grew stronger as the creature approached.
And Achilles smiled in the darkness and whispered a single word that nobody wpuld even hear!
