I Become the Baby Tiger in a Beast Taming World-Chapter 74: [Bonus - : Character List]
Dear Readers,
As a courtesy, I am providing a character list, just to ground readers in the world of the book and help you get to know the characters, the main ones as well as some of the background characters. The world of the story is divided between the game world of Tanglewood and the fictional W City on Earth.
HUMAN WORLD/W CITY
Josh Lyonne--27, law student in W City at W City University. His parents’ pride and joy, but also the source of their stress. He has a girlfriend and crush, Amber, whom he’s serious about, but who he doesn’t feel close to. He has a younger brother, Damon, with whom he connects while playing video games, specifically Tanglewood, where he plays Blaze as a character. He dies and isekais into the video game.
Damon Lyonne--25, Josh’s younger brother, connects with him playing Tanglewood, a video game in which they play as beasts. Damon plays as Lobo, the tamed wolf.
Professor Katt--Josh’s law professor overseeing the exam when Josh dies of a heart attack.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyonne--Josh’s demanding parents with whom he feels tension, as if he’s never good enough. However, he realizes that this is not the case when he sees a vision of them crying when he is dying.
Grandpa Lyonne--Old-fashioned guy who knows a lot about animals. Josh and Damon are very close to him.
Amber--Josh’s crush and girlfriend, whom he cares about but doesn’t focus on because of his all-consuming focus on school.
TANGLEWOOD
Beasts
Blaze--Josh’s new identity in Tanglewood. Originally from Tanglevine Jungle, he is a baby tiger chosen by Kaline and eager to level up in the House of Riddlehoeven. He was left on his own in the video game world till Kaline found him. As Josh, he wants to figure out this new life in a human and tiger way. As Blaze, he really wants to live according to his primal instincts. He eventually befriends his fellow beasts, some imps, and even a goblin chief.
Demos--Advanced bear cub, linked to Kaline’s older sister Vedette. He is the self-appointed leader of all the beasts, even when Lobo and Gussie and Peridot join. He is obsessed with getting the highest honors and advancing the beasts of the house and proving that the House of Riddlehoeven is the best. He’s very bossy but loyal. He enjoys ribbing Blaze, and occasionally finds Gussie a little too bubbly but is fond of her. He has a grudging respect for Lobo.
Gussie--An exotic jungle parrot discovered by Demos and Blaze while hunting. She helps protect them from poachers, and they save her. She becomes Lamant’s tamed beast. Although smart and talkative, she’s also silly at times, but very brave. She loves fashion and beauty and beautiful things. She and Demos and Blaze become quite a team and form the Beast Detective Agency.
Lobo--An advanced wolf cub formerly belonging to ex-Lady Rosabel Lammermoor, an elf who turns out to be less than noble. Lobo is stymied and stifled because of Lady Lammermoor’s controlling nature and her secret criminal activities. Although he attacks Blaze out of jealousy, it’s really a cry for help, and he tries to defend Blaze from a kidnapper. He becomes Minette’s tamed beast. Damon, Josh’s brother, plays him in the human world.
Peridot--A novice flying python in Tanglevine Jungle who Blaze, Demos, Gussie, and Lobo trap and persuade to become Niall Widdershins’ beast. Peridot is young, but feisty, intelligent, and great at stealth and investigations. Although Blaze and the others catch her and trap her, she gets the drop on them first, and a mutual respect is born.
Einswine--Advanced, very dignified and ferocious battle-seasoned boar belonging to Lord Elandior Lammermoor, the head of the House of Lammermoor. He helps in fighting bigamist ex-Lady Rosabel and her husband Viscount Rossa. Later, he fights off the goblins that invade the Lammermoor Mansion.
Lightning--The advanced tiger cub bonded by Hans Lammermoor. She is feisty, intelligent, proud, elegant, and definitely likes Blaze. He has a crush on her too, though he tries not to acknowledge it. A great tamed beast in training, Lightning works with the beasts and Blaze to free Lobo and defeat ex-Lady Lammermoor.
Shade--Fox who steals from Niall Widdershins and dislikes most humans. He’s a snob. Blaze and the others convince him to substitute for Lobo as ex-Lady Lammermoor’s beast. They deserve each other.
Judo and Memo--Kidnapped beasts stolen from Lamant and Minette. They are gone, never to return...or are they?
Butterbur--Dragonet on Mrs. Threadgood’s farm.
Ophion--Snake bonded to Martyn Bottomsley, rival of the Riddlehoevens.
Zuba--Baboon bonded to Terrah Bottomsley, Martyn’s wife.
Dag--Annoying bird enslaved by the Grimrock Goblins. Has lived his whole life in the caves and has bad grammar. Slavishy devoted to Bykt, one of the goblins, and Kasz, the Goblin Chief. Dim-witted and peevish.
House of Riddlehoeven
Kaline Riddlehoeven--Preteen girl, younger of the Riddlehoeven girls. Blaze’s tamer. A bright, fearless, inquisitive cheery, cute girl who wants to make her mark in the beast taming world. She wins Blaze over with her big heart and becomes like a sister to him. She has a big legacy to live up to as the youngest in her family. Beast taming brings her first crush, Hans Lammermoor.
Vedette Riddlehoeven--Older sister of Kaline, very impressive teenage beast tamer of Demos, a know-it-all like most older sisters. However, she genuinely wants Kaline to become the best beast tamer she can be. Constantly giving Kaline advice. An elegant, pretty girl who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty.
Lamant Riddlehoeven--A typical dad, even as a beast tamer. Expert at making potions in his study, Pills of Power, and manifold other beast taming magic spells. Struggled with the loss of his tamed beast to theft, but always insisted on his daughters becoming beast tamers and doing their best. Widely respected in the beast taming community. Becomes the tamer of Gussie.
Minette Riddlehoeven--Lost her beast and is deeply affected. However, she’s a good mother to Vedette and Kaline, and beloved in the beast taming community and the village. When she bonds Lobo, she helps him perform way better than his former Mistress ever could or would.
Roon Maartenwitz--Beast Taming Steward. Skinny, elegant but gangly. Seems like any stuffy house servant, but the beasts of the house are his life, and Lamant and Minette value him. Becomes good friends with Niall.
Tomas Willems--Underbutler for the household, and like an older brother to Kaline and Vedette. Always willing to help. Currently pursuing a flirtation with a Lammermoor servant, Byron Wylde.
Niall Widdershins--Wild-haired halfling formerly known as "The Hiccuping Hermit" in the village, he is a curse-breaker. He was a tamer who lost his beast and became Fangless, or without a beast. Kaline, Hans, Vedette, and the beasts rope him into helping them detect a curse and free Lobo. Niall is fond of the entire family and develops a close bond with Roon Maartenwitz.
Villagers
Mayor Crothu--An orc with a talent for leadership who holds weekly tournament events to celebrate the Riddlehoevens before the Beast Taming Elimination Tournament.
Mrs. Threadgood--A widowed farm woman who has been struggling to keep her farm afloat. Dex and his band of imps think that she works too hard. They try to help her, but in an unhelpful way, until Blaze and the others broker peace and help the imps become farm helpers.
Dex--Leader of a band of imps attached to Mrs. Threadgood’s farm.
Jessamyn Wheelwright--A nasty rival farm woman who dislikes Mrs. Threadgood for no good reason and is no friend of the Riddlehoevens.
Martyn Bottomsley--A rival to the Riddlehoevens, tamer of Ophion.
Terrah Bottomsley--Martyn’s wife, tamer of Zuba.
House of Lammermoor
Ex-Lady Rosabel Lammermoor--A beautiful elf woman who is not what she appears. She is a bigamist who never divorced her first husband, Viscount Rossa. Her duplicity in marriage matches her scheming and treachery against her fellow beast tamers, whose beasts she conspires to steal. Former tamer of Lobo, she’s now bonded with Shade.
Lord Elandior Lammermoor--The head of the house who came to know about his wife’s treachery and has stayed away on beast taming or beast seeking trips. He returns home after his son makes an impassioned plea, and he helps hold his (former) wife accountable. Tamer of Einswine, father of Elandior, staunch ally of the Riddlehoevens.
Byron Wylde--Lammermoor servant, friend and possible romantic interest of Thomas Willems.
Viscount Rossa--Disgraced noble, still the husband in secret of Lady Rosabel, and conspiring with her to operate a beast theft ring. Notable for his putrid body odor.
OTHER CREATURES
Bykt--A goblin who takes charge of Blaze and Dag until Chief Kasz claims Blaze for his own.
Chief Kasz--Head of the Grimrock Goblins. More intelligent than other goblins. Successfully leads a raid on the House of Lammermoor. to seize treasure and a beast, He takes a shine to Blaze and adopts him, calling him "Raar." In his way, he becomes fond of Blaze. When the Riddlehoevens and the Lammermoors rescue Blaze, Chief Kasz does not want to give him up.
