I Become Master of Danger Zones as Incubus With Mastery In Genetic-Chapter 780 - 200
Duke Phorus looked around, wary for any kind of monsters inhabiting the cavern. Other did the same, knowing to be wary for the monsters in the deep.
Even if some of the monsters are weaker than them, being ambushed in the dark is something no one wished to happen. More so when said attack his unprotected part of their bodies.
Fortunately, their weapons had been sufficiently enchanted, so it will let a soft glow. Not enough to blind anyone looking at the weapon directly, but enough to light up the dark caverns.
One of the few preparations they have made.
"Lord Phorus, we will be reaching the end of the first floor, before descending deeper." One of Guardian of Hex told the blonde man.
The Duke nodded. Another thing he had been preparing for is the mapping of Hexun Cavern's inside. Sending weaker soldiers to explore the upper floors allowed the mapping to be finished, or what can be considered as finish, in a short amount of time.
It's the deeper floor that is the issue. The deeper into the Hexun Cavern, the stronger the monsters. There is a line that had been made by the soldiers, warning those after them, that none had pass the line and survive. At least those who pass the line and enter the deeper part. Those that step over the line before fleeing did not count, obviously.
The Duke once send some of his elites to map the deeper part. However, the endeavor, while not failing fully, it could also not be described as successful.
Only a small portion of the deeper part that managed to be imparted by the elite squads. They did not get any more information, unfortunately, as the monsters just too much for them, forcing them to memorize what they can see before telling others and hoping they could understand.
Not the best information, but anything is better than nothing at this point.
'We should easily pass through the monsters here, though caution is still advised.' The blonde man thought, as his blue orbs scanned the area.
Sure enough, some Cave Bats, large bats the size of small children at their largest, dive towards them.
At the sight of diving Cave Bats, his entourage did not scatter. Instead, they walked in front of him, before taking out small shields. The small shields soon emit white glow, which soon created a wall made out of white light.
Despite looking flimsy, the wall did not break as the Cave Bats slammed into it. It did not even shake, showing how strong the wall truly was.
The Cave Bats that perform the dive found themselves with broken wings and bones, unable to get up. Making them easy prey for the Guardian of Hex.
They stabbed the monsters, which caused the monsters to shriek loudly before they finally die. The loud sounds was bad enough on its own. Inside a cramped cavern, it echoed, making it even louder.
Fortunately for Duke Phorus and his group, ample preparation had been made. As the loud sounds echoed in the cavern, the elites of Hex Duchy had a bored look.
As for why they were not affected by the shrieking Bats, they all wore earplugs. The loud sounds did not even register in their ears.
Though, despite most of the Cave Bats had been killed, there still some flying around, not performing the suicidal dive their brethren committed before.
"Ssskkaaaaa!" the still alive Cave Bats screeched, flapping their wings before releasing a burst of powerful sound.
The loud cry coming out of them contain a hint of Mana, impacting the wall of light. The wall of light remain standing, though, some of the Guardian were pushed slightly.
"Kill the rest." Duke Phorus ordered.
His Guardian nodded. Despite no one bringing bows, it was an easy task for the Guardian of Hex to take down flying opponents, at least in places like caves.
One of them took a sword, before swinging at the flying Cave Bats. From the sword, an arch of golden glow glided towards the monsters.
Before they could react, the golden arch sliced through them. The Cave Bats dropped few seconds later, most of them bisected with two beheaded.
As the Cave Bats were exterminated, at least in the current cavern, the group did not let their guard down.
After all, the Cave Bats were akin to sentries. Warning other monsters of any intruders' presence.
"Raaargghh!"
Sure enough, small groups of Cave Bears entered the cavern, snarling and drooling at the group of human that dared to enter its domain.
"Deal with them, Hars." General Lazil ordered.
A man with long green hair nodded. Walking towards the pack of Cave Bears, the man remained undaunted, even as the Bears started charging at him.
He took his weapon, a rapier, before lightly flicking it, like he was gently poking at the monsters.
Yet, despite the rather weak looking action, the Cave Bears stopped, before falling on the ground. Then again, standing seem impossible when they have a hole in their heads.
The green-haired man smiled, before sheathing back his weapon like he did nothing special.

The General nodded, before looking straight at Duke Phorus.
"Let's move deeper. The faster we save my wives and daughters, the faster we get out of this hell hole."

Alros was busy observing the armies when his head shot up.
"They already pass the group of Cave Bears?" he commented. Then again, with the number of elites, it was not that surprising.
"Let see what happened." The Demon Lord had put several Shade Sentries all over Hexun Cavern, to act as his eyes, even when he was outside the cavern.
Closing his eyes, he could vividly see the currently unoccupied cavern, the group having left few minutes before.
However, he did not need to see them, as he merely need to check the memories of his Shade.
Slowly, image of what happened prior was revealed to him. The Demon Lord hummed, as he used some of the Shade to look at the green-haired man.
"He is strong. But how strong he really is in the group?" Alros wondered to himself. The green-haired man could either be among the strongest, or among the weakest in the group.
Then again, knowing will not change the outcome of their slaughter.
