Chapter 45: Don’t Use Your Hands!!!

[Someone with an innocent mind would not receive a main quest that requires mating to extend their lifespan, Host.]

Roxanna’s eye twitched slightly. [Then why did you choose me and make me do such a ridiculous quest?!]

[Because you’re not that innocent,] the system replied calmly. Well, it was a machine after all. [You just never had a chance to express those thoughts because your ex-husband was a loser.]

Roxanna wanted to say something, to defend herself, but the words died in her throat. Actually, the system wasn’t completely wrong. She had watched porn a few times or read some erotic books—many, honestly—but... that didn’t mean she wanted to do it in real life! 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

At least, that was what she always told herself.

Well... maybe a small part of her did want it. But wasn’t that normal? Or maybe it wasn’t.

Ever since she was young, her caretakers had always told her that a woman had to behave properly. A woman shouldn’t think about things like that, and a woman shouldn’t act like a slut.

Because of those words, Roxanna once believed there was something wrong with her whenever she felt aroused while reading or watching something spicy. She thought other women didn’t feel the same way she did.

But as she grew older, she realized that all women could feel aroused, and that it was normal for women to feel that way.

Still, those old words were deeply rooted in her mind. Even now, even though she knew that thinking about sex was normal, she sometimes couldn’t help but feel like she was doing something terribly wrong.

"I... I can think about it," she said softly. "But maybe not tonight."

"That’s fine." Cyrus gently lowered Roxanna from his arms. He patted her head a few times and carefully fixed her slightly messy hair. "I’m only saying what I want. Whether you agree or not is your choice."

Oh, so he wasn’t just teasing her. Cyrus was a gentleman too!

But... wasn’t that supposed to be normal? Why did she feel so relieved just because a man respected her consent? Then again, maybe it really was something special, especially in a world like this, a place that still felt so close to a primitive era.

"But what if I... accidentally choose another husband?" Roxanna asked softly, because she couldn’t promise that Cyrus would be her second one.

To be honest, she hadn’t expected to kiss Cyrus today. They hadn’t interacted that much yet. But thinking about it again, she hadn’t known Azul for very long either, and yet she had already mated with him.

"That’s fine too," Cyrus said. "You’re married to all of us, so whoever you choose next won’t make you a bad person. We’re all your husbands."

Roxanna tilted her head slightly, suddenly feeling confused as to why Cyrus spoke as if she had only just mated with Azul.

He should know that the evil Roxanna had mated with all of them before... right?

Or maybe he had simply chosen to let go of the past and wanted to make new memories now that Roxanna was trying to be better.

Whatever the reason was, she felt grateful.

She was about to say something when the door in the hut suddenly opened. "Wife! We brought you lots of water!" Calen said proudly.

Roxanna quickly stepped out of the kitchen and saw Calen and Luan standing there, surrounded by dozens of waterskins filled with water from the well.

"The wooden tub in the bathroom is pretty big, but it should be fine," Luan said calmly. "If the water isn’t enough, I can go back to the well."

"That’s fine. Really," Roxanna said with a bright smile. "The well isn’t going anywhere, so you don’t have to fill the tub right now either."

She wanted to say more, but then her stomach growled. Ah, running around all day had left her hungry again.

They had already finished all the rabbit meat and the mustard greens. However, Luan had gathered a lot of fruit yesterday, so it seemed she could eat that tonight.

"I can hunt more meat for you right now," Calen said seriously. "It’s not hard at all. How about a boar? Do you like that?"

[I really want roasted meat again... but I’m too lazy to cook it myself,] Roxanna thought. [If only someone could do it for me.]

"Do you want me to roast the meat for you?" Cyrus suddenly asked as he walked out of the kitchen. "Just tell me how to do it. I’ll follow whatever you say."

Roxanna turned to him with sparkling eyes. She hadn’t expected her husband to say something like that. In the past, her ex-husband hadn’t even bothered to ask what ingredients she needed in the kitchen.

"Really? It’s actually not that hard," Roxanna said honestly. "But... it might be a little tricky for someone doing it for the first time."

"Then I’ll just learn," Cyrus replied. "The food you made today was really good, but you can’t cook like that for us every day. That’s why I want to learn, so I can make it for you too."

Roxanna blinked, her lips parting slightly as she looked at him. For a moment, she didn’t know what to say.

"...You really don’t mind?" she asked quietly.

Cyrus shook his head. "Why would I?" he said. "You’re not the only one living here. We should share the work.

Those simple words made her heart feel strangely full.

Roxanna let out a small laugh and nodded. "Alright," she said. "Then I’ll teach you. But don’t complain if you mess up the first few times."

"I won’t," Cyrus replied without hesitation. "I’m a fast learner."

Calen then went to hunt a wild boar and cut the meat into pieces, cleaning it just as Roxanna instructed. After that, the only thing Cyrus had to do was roast it. This time, they used a flat river stone as a substitute for a pan.

"You have to keep turning the meat so it doesn’t burn on one side," Roxanna instructed from the side. But then her eyes widened. "Don’t use your hands!!!"
