I Became the Eye Candy: Four Bigshots Claimed to be My Dad?-Chapter 71: A Bet with the Master
Ye Qianning followed them out. To her, it was just Lou Mountain Academy; attending or not didn’t really matter anymore. However—
The room’s door closed, and a moment later, a bloodcurdling scream rang out. When the door opened again, the teacher crawled out from inside, his eyes bruised black and blue, his nose and mouth bleeding.
"Teacher!" Instructor Fang exclaimed.
"Xiang Minghou, you dare assault me in public! I’m going to the palace! I will report you before His Majesty!" the teacher snarled, looking utterly wretched.
Xiang Minghou strode crisply out the door. "Go ahead and report me," he said, his voice full of authority.
"You... You have no respect for the law! You’re corrupting the academy’s reputation and assaulting a teacher! I will sue you until you’re bankrupt!" the teacher shrieked, pointing a trembling finger at Xiang Minghou.
"You report him, and we sisters will go to the Golden Throne Hall and report you! We saved you from dire straits, and you personally promised us a favor! Now you’re trying to back out of it? There’s no justice in this world!" Peony was not intimidated in the least, her voice even louder than the teacher’s.
Teacher Song was furious. "You people are utterly barbaric! The child you’ve raised is a menace, too! I will absolutely not allow such a parasite to remain in the academy!"
"You’re the parasite! Your whole family are parasites!" Hua Qiao shot back.
"You... You... Everyone in General Xiang’s estate is just a bunch of savages—"
"Father, Aunts, I’m not going to Lou Mountain Academy anymore," Ye Qianning’s clear, childlike voice interrupted Teacher Song’s furious tirade.
"Daughter, don’t you worry. Your father isn’t afraid of this old coot reporting me."
"Father, there’s no need for all this," Ye Qianning said.
Hearing this, Xiang Minghou looked a little embarrassed. ’Does my daughter think I’m just some brutish father?’
Peony, Hua Qiao, and Paeonia also looked uncomfortable. ’It’s over,’ they thought. ’The little girl must think we’re crude and uneducated.’
Hearing her words, some of the anger faded from Teacher Song’s face. He snorted, "Even a child thinks you’re crude and barbaric. This little one, at least, is still teachable."
"I’m afraid you’ve misunderstood me, Teacher," Ye Qianning said, her voice light.
Teacher Song was confused.
"What I mean is, in the face of true power, even barbarism has its reasons." Ye Qianning stared at him and added softly, "I only wanted to attend Lou Mountain Academy out of curiosity. But having now witnessed your vulgarity, Teacher, I’m starting to think Lou Mountain Academy isn’t all that special."
Though her voice was very soft, it wasn’t hard to detect the thick layer of insolence mixed into her childish tone.
To be disdained by a mere child at his age was more humiliating than being beaten. "You have quite the nerve, little girl."
"You’re just a frog in a well, Teacher Song, despite your age. That’s why you think I have a big mouth," Ye Qianning said with a short laugh.
"You..."
"Don’t be so indignant, Teacher. I hear you’re a mathematical genius. This humble little girl, though uneducated, has some small insights into mathematics herself. I boldly invite you to a competition. What do you say?" Ye Qianning said slowly.
Xiang Minghou was stunned. ’His daughter... was challenging Teacher Song?’
’Damn,’ he thought. ’Whether she can pull it off or not, that courage is just like mine!’
Peony was just as shocked.
Teacher Song was astonished, then looked deeply insulted. "A five or six-year-old child dares to compare her knowledge to mine?"
"So, do you dare to compete, Teacher?" Ye Qianning asked.
"Hmph. If I were to compete with a six-year-old, wouldn’t the world say I was bullying a child?" Teacher Song had never been so speechless in his life.
"Cut the high-and-mighty excuses. Just tell me if you dare or not. Why are you being so long-winded? It’s exhausting," Ye Qianning said, feeling the urge to punch him herself.
