I Became the Alchemy Master by Picking Up Trash-Chapter 274 - 272: The Death of Lin Yin
Compared to the surveillance function of high-level insect eggs, Li Xing is more concerned about whether it might have other effects on the host.
"Can high-level insect eggs control the host’s actions, like making them attack others or commit suicide?"
Xue Han’s chest heaved violently, and every word he spoke was a torment, but he still forced himself to answer Li Xing’s question:
"They shouldn’t be able to... Otherwise, Mingzhen would have already used the eggs to remotely kill me, and wouldn’t have sent Lin Yin..."
Xue Han’s answer did not relieve Li Xing. She had a strange premonition that the role of high-level insect eggs was far from just providing intelligence. There might be triggering conditions unknown to Xue Han.
"Last question, does Mingzhen want to parasitize Chu Yunyi’s body?"
Xue Han grimaced, giving a smile uglier than crying: "Can’t believe you guessed even that, Li Xing, you’re really something. Falling into your hands, I can’t complain..."
"Mingzhen has to change human bodies periodically, and every body is elite among humans. Cough... He has coveted Chu Yunyi’s body for a long time, and will likely act soon..."
Li Xing’s pupils suddenly dilated as she urgently asked, "Whose body is he using now?"
Li Xing’s heart pounded as she focused intently on Xue Han’s lips, just waiting for the answer.
"It’s... it’s... ah——!"
At the moment Xue Han spoke, a pair of mandarin axes sliced through the air, viciously piercing his chest.
Xue Han spat out a mouthful of black blood, his lips moved as if whispering something, and then he died with eyes wide open in hatred.
Li Xing looked at Xue Han’s body, sighed softly, stood up slowly, and emotionlessly made eye contact with the person behind her.
"Revealing the secrets of the Holy Sect before death, how foolish!" Lin Yin’s crimson tongue licked his lips as he sinisterly said:
"But fortunately, it’s you who knows. Li Xing, you’re my next assassination target. I was planning to find you in a few days, but since fate has brought us together today, let’s settle it now to protect the sect’s secrets."
Li Xing sneered: "Lin Yin, you think you can kill me? At your peak, you were no match for me, and now poisoned, you’re close to dying without me even lifting a finger. Do you think Pumo Flower Powder affects IQ?"
Although Lin Yin didn’t have pus-filled sores like Xue Han, his neck and hands were covered in large areas of blisters, looking terrifying.
"Pumo Flower Powder is insignificant against my devouring ability."
Black mist rose from Lin Yin, enveloping him. The black mist wriggled as if alive, and after a few breaths, it dispersed, his swollen neck and hands miraculously returning to normal.
He raised his right hand, satisfied with what he saw: "See, all better now?"
The Dark Elemental Spirit around Lin Yin was purer than during Xi Yuan’s competition; if Li Xing hadn’t advanced to Nascent Soul, she’d be no match.
Li Xing had suspicions about Lin Yin, so she exaggeratedly clapped her hands, sarcastically saying, "Dark Elemental Spirit sure is handy, way better than your old Earth Elemental Spirit!"
As expected, Lin Yin’s expression darkened after Li Xing’s words, his sinister gaze chilling: "How did you know? Did Xue Han tell you? No, Xue Han didn’t know this, when did you start suspecting me?"
Li Xing smiled smugly, softly saying, "Just now."
Lin Yin became furious: "You deceived me?"
"Blame your own stupidity."
Enraged, Lin Yin threw another mandarin ax at Li Xing, who kicked it away, only to find a hidden Netherworld Demon Cannon shadowing the ax.
Seeing the cannon about to hit Li Xing’s head, Lin Yin’s heart soared with joy. But before he could indulge, Li Xing casually raised her hand, and a blinding light appeared at her fingertip, striking directly at the cannon.
The pitch-black sphere shattered instantly like ice meeting fire, dispersing into nothingness.
Lin Yin was shocked. This light attack resembled Light Element magic. Though he had advanced to Heavenly Armor tier with the Sect Hierarch’s help, he hadn’t expected Li Xing to have such a trump card! Damn, how many secrets does this woman hold!
Li Xing dissolved the Netherworld Demon Cannon in one move, and the Ten Thousand Spirits Return Divine Light continued its assault, aiming at Lin Yin’s joints.
Lin Yin had no time to think, hurriedly using his movement technique to dodge, but the increasing lights enveloped him like a net. Unable to evade, his right shoulder was pierced by the light.
The excruciating pain and the sluggishness of his Elemental Spirit alarmed Lin Yin.
He realized unquestionably that these light attacks were Light Element magic, but wasn’t Li Xing a dual-element of wood and fire, how could she use Light Element attacks?
"How... how can you use Light Element magic?"
Li Xing approached him leisurely.
"This? I learned it just for you, how is it?"
The light naturally restrained the dark; Light Element magic was essentially the nemesis of Dark Elemental Spirit. Now Lin Yin, devoid of his earlier arrogance, was retreating step by step, seeking a chance to flee.
"Impossible! You’re not a Light Elemental Spirit, you can’t use light magic. What weapon did you use?"
Li Xing rolled her eyes: "Tch, if you can change your Elemental Spirit, why can’t I use non-elemental magic? Young man, you need broader horizons."
Lin Yin retreated to an alley opening leading to another commercial street and hurled six Netherworld Demon Cannons at Li Xing, diving into the alley.
But to his shock, though the alley was right there, he seemed ensnared by an invisible net, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t break through.
Li Xing’s voice echoed: "Running? Too late. I’ve set up a barrier here, defeat me, or you won’t escape."
Lin Yin whirled around to find Li Xing had tossed aside the cannons and was now an arm’s length away.
Before he could attack, Li Xing had already seized his neck, slamming him to the ground.
The forceful collision shattered the hard bluestone, spider-webbing away from Lin Yin’s head.
"Grkk—grkk—!"
Lin Yin tried to absorb Li Xing’s Elemental Power with his Elemental Spirit, but found that the absorbed energy was utterly rebellious, rampaging within him like swords, leaving him in agony.
The agony and suffocation drove Lin Yin to struggle desperately, but no matter how he protested, Li Xing’s monstrous grip was as unshakable as iron, letting him only glare with resentment.
Amid the chaotic footsteps approaching, presumably from the Guard Team, Li Xing wasn’t a law enforcer; capturing Lin Yin was one thing, convicting him required intervention from the legal system.
Suddenly, a hint of crimson flickered in Lin Yin’s eyes, his panic replaced by calm, and an intense unease surged within Li Xing as she hastily released the grip on his throat.
Yet just as she was about to let go, Lin Yin suddenly raised his hands, forcing them onto her own, pressing them against his neck with a surprising force that startled Li Xing.
By then, the Guard Team had arrived, everyone witnessing Li Xing pinning Lin Yin on the ground as he desperately clutched her hands, crying out for help with all his might.
"Help! Murder! Li Xing is killing me—!"
To avoid unnecessary trouble, Li Xing intensified her effort to break free from Lin Yin’s reverse grip. Yet in that split second, something unforeseen happened.
"Crack—"
The sound of a bone snapping came from her grasp, abruptly silencing Lin Yin’s cries. His neck twisted unnaturally, his expression frozen in the terror and helplessness of his final moments, tears still staining his eyes.
To anyone looking, it seemed Li Xing had strangled Lin Yin, but only she knew that he had forced her hand to break his neck himself.
The Guard Team, shocked, immediately drew their weapons at Li Xing, shouting not to move. But Li Xing, unfazed, stared at Lin Yin’s corpse, suddenly unleashing a frustrated punch at the ground beside his head.
The bluestone shattered into powder, and perhaps having hit too hard, she scraped her skin, leaving faint traces of blood on the ground.
Li Xing’s actions unabashedly challenged law enforcement, prompting the Guard Team to subdue her in unison, cuffing her with heavy restraints and taking her away.
