Chapter 534: Chapter 533: Madam Yun

The woman speaking had red lips and a smile, looking at Beisitian as if she didn’t mind Nian Fanghua’s attitude.

"Children have a strong vitality, but their minds are too fragile." She shook her head and said.

Usually, people who say this have similar situations happening around them and express such sentiments, but judging by her expression, she didn’t look sad, so it probably wasn’t her own relatives.

"People are very fragile," Beisitian replied indifferently.

The woman’s beautiful eyes lingered on Beisitian for a moment before asking, "What is your last name, Madam?"

"It’s Bei." Beisitian replied politely, noting that this woman wasn’t looking for trouble.

"I am Yun; are you a doctor?" Madam Yun asked.

Beisitian smiled, "Yes, a traditional Chinese medicine doctor."

Madam Yun’s lips curled slightly, "Ah, Chinese medicine, then you probably can’t help."

Even though she said this, she didn’t look disappointed, and there was evidently no expectation in her heart of finding a good doctor outside the hospital, yet her eyes did not show disdain.

There was no disdain, but certainly skepticism toward Chinese medicine.

Beisitian lowered her eyes slightly, "What kind of doctor is Madam Yun looking for?"

"Naturally, someone experienced, who has seen various difficult and complicated cases," Madam Yun replied.

She seemed to be casually chatting, not really expecting to find a doctor here, yet why was she talking about these things with two strangers, appearing as if she was looking for a doctor?

"Madam Yun isn’t sincere," Beisitian remarked.

Madam Yun paused at the words, then laughed, stood up, and with her tailored suit dress accentuating her relatively good figure, she came to Beisitian’s table and asked, "May I sit here?"

"Please, sit," Beisitian said.

Nian Fanghua was indifferent, curious as well about the woman’s identity, observing that she didn’t seem like an ordinary person, without a male companion by her side.

"Madam is indeed impressive, rebutting so quickly." Madam Yun laughed as she sat down. "Sincerity depends on the place too. In a place like this, one might be sincere looking for partners, but would you believe I’m sincere in seeking a doctor here?"

Beisitian chuckled; this person was quite interesting, so she asked another question, "Could Madam describe the symptoms? Maybe I can help."

Madam Yun smiled softly and then sighed, "It’s about a friend of mine, her child has had anorexia for a year now. A teen who is now skin and bones, her thighs thinner than her arms, visibly terrifying. They’ve searched everywhere but haven’t found a cure, being told to treat the psyche. The child used to be very optimistic, such a sunny child."

Speaking of this, the smile on her lips faded, not seeing the child, but those who did would show shock and fear in their eyes.

Eyes as if seeing a monster, anorexia itself didn’t pressure the child much mentally; it was the gazes around her that placed the crushing weight on her.

The child has now stopped attending school, does not dare to leave the house, and every time someone visits, her room door is tightly shut, with no sound at all.

Nian Fanghua listened as if she had heard of such an incident somewhere before, but suddenly couldn’t recall it. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Beisitian listened closely; she had encountered anorexia twice before, back when she hadn’t formally become a Mystic Doctor, accompanying her master.

There was a patient with extremely severe anorexia, refusing to eat anything at all. When her master came, this person was already at death’s door, unable to be saved. In the end, even drinking talismanic water couldn’t bring them back.

An another case was similar but involved pathetic daily food intake and had to be force-fed. The person was alive but resembled a skeletal frame, skin tightly wrapped around bones, terrifying in appearance, almost burned as a live-a-dead by the locals when they went out, saved by her master.

Initially, her master used talismanic water to sustain the person’s physiological needs, then gradually increased medicinal food. The person resisted, vomiting even force-fed food.

Beisitian could tell he wanted to cooperate with the treatment but was completely unable to control himself, the mere act of keeping food down driving him mad — at least, that was how it felt to Beisitian at the time.

Knowing that force-feeding might intensify the condition to some extent, her master had to come up with alternative solutions. Fortunately, drinking talismanic water didn’t trigger resistance; thus, Beisitian suggested whether flavor herbs or vegetables could be added during talisman making.

Her master glared at her strange suggestion, but later, she realized talismanic water couldn’t be altered with anything, as added items remained colorless and tasteless.

Nonetheless, her master drew inspiration from this and found ways to incorporate edible herbs into the talisman making, creating clear water void of color but full of flavor.

Indeed, it couldn’t be called talismanic water anymore, devoid of color yet flavorful and losing its efficacy.

At first, the man could barely sip it, struggling to keep it down; gradually increasing it helped, a month later he began eating real food, closing his eyes to eat, managing to accept it.

By the time Beisitian and her master left after three months, the man could eat normally — his intake half that of others but far greater than before, sustaining his bodily functions, with recovery likely to restore his normalcy.

After becoming a Mystic Doctor, Beisitian hadn’t encountered another anorexia patient, eager to personally experiment with the flavor-only, colorless clear water technique her master devised.

Unexpectedly, she came across an anorexia patient here.

"Such cases are rare domestically; it’s said that psychological therapy is required, but after so long with no results," Madam Yun sighed.

"Could Madam take me to meet the patient? I might be able to help." Beisitian felt intrigued by the prospects and directly proposed.

With a smile, Madam Yun responded, "Frankly, Madam, they just returned home from abroad without special methods; domestic experts were consulted with no effect too. You seem young, possibly less experienced than these doctors."

Nian Fanghua opened her mouth as if trying to say something, glanced at Beisitian but remained silent.

Beisitian, accustomed to skepticism, replied, "What’s the harm in trying?"

Madam Yun shook her head, having mentioned the matter due to discussions about children. With the topic progressing, revealing detailed issues wasn’t something she wished to promote publicly, especially given the family’s notable status, restricting access to the child.
