Chapter 296: Chapter 296 Boyfriend?

Alina nodded understandingly. "It’s alright, Aunt. Don’t worry about us."

Lyla smiled faintly, brushing Alina’s hair from her forehead the way she always did. "I’ll come back in the evening, okay? Don’t skip lunch."

"I won’t," Alina said, smiling gently.

Aunt Lyla gave a polite nod to Georgia and Dante before gathering her things. "Doctor Georgia, thank you again. You’re truly wonderful."

Georgia returned the smile warmly. "Take care, Mrs. Lyla. Remember what I said, breathe and rest."

Lyla nodded once more and hurried toward the hallway, her heels clicking lightly against the tile floor. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

As the door closed behind her, the room grew quiet again. Only Alina, Dante, and Georgia remained, sunlight spilling through the curtain, the soft rhythm of her mother’s breathing filling the stillness.

Georgia looked after the door for a moment before glancing back at Alina. "She’s a kind woman," she said softly. "But she carries too much worry."

Alina smiled faintly. "Yes, she always has."

Georgia tilted her head slightly, her green eyes glinting playfully. "Do you want me to check you too, Alina?"

Alina blinked, startled. "M-me?" she stammered, her cheeks warming.

"Yes, you," Georgia said with a teasing grin. "You’ve been running around caring for everyone else. Let’s see if you’ve been taking care of yourself."

Alina laughed nervously, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I really don’t want to trouble you."

"Oh, nonsense," Georgia said with a wave of her hand. "Sit down, sweetheart."

Hesitantly, Alina obeyed, perching on the edge of the chair. Georgia leaned forward, placing her fingers gently on Alina’s wrist while her other hand rested lightly over her shoulder. Her smile softened as she focused quietly.

After a few moments, she said, "Well, your health isn’t bad. You’re actually quite balanced for someone who works with children all day."

Alina exhaled, smiling faintly. "That’s a relief."

"But," Georgia continued, her tone turning thoughtful, "you take on a lot of stress. It shows here." She tapped lightly on Alina’s shoulder and chest.

Alina looked surprised. "Really?"

"Yes," Georgia said softly. "You carry emotional weight here. It’s not physical. It’s like you’re always worried about others and forget your own heart."

Alina smiled weakly, not denying it. "Maybe that’s true."

From behind, Dante’s eyes sharpened slightly. He hadn’t moved since she began, but now his gaze was fixed on them—on Alina’s face, her hands nervously fidgeting, the faint hint of fatigue beneath her smile.

Why was she in stress? he thought, a faint frown creasing his brow. Who or what made her carry so much alone?

Then Georgia’s expression changed, mischievous and teasing once again. "And tell me, Alina," she said with a sly smile, "don’t humans usually have boyfriends? Maybe that’s what you’re missing. A few cute touches and warm cuddles can relieve mild stress, you know."

Alina’s jaw dropped, and she went red instantly. "Georgia!" she gasped, half laughing, half scandalized.

Even Dante looked startled for a moment, his calm composure cracking slightly as his brows drew together.

Georgia only smirked. "What? It’s medically proven. A little affection goes a long way."

Alina’s blush deepened, but she laughed softly, looking away. "You’re right, actually. Maybe I do need a boyfriend," she admitted, half joking, half thoughtful. "It would be nice to have someone to share your thoughts with. Someone who understands you deeply."

Dante’s jaw tightened. His hand curled slightly at his side, his expression unreadable but undeniably tense.

Boyfriend? The word echoed in his head like something unpleasant. Humans dated and discarded affection like it was temporary. He had seen it too many times. She doesn’t need that, he thought fiercely. She deserves something purer, soul-deep, something eternal.

Georgia, still oblivious to his growing irritation, winked at Alina. "Well then, my dear, would you be open to supernatural suitors? I know some very charming faes, a few polite vampires, even a dragon or two who’d adore someone like you."

Alina’s cheeks flamed again. "G-Georgia!" she stammered, hiding her face.

That was the final straw.

"Georgia," Dante said, his voice low, the faint edge of a growl hiding beneath his calm tone. His teeth clenched as he forced a tight smile.

She froze for a second, then grinned wider. "Oh my," she teased lightly, glancing at him from the corner of her eye. "I didn’t know you were taking applicants too, my Lord."

Alina looked between them in confusion. "Applicants?"

Dante exhaled slowly, his patience fraying. "Enough, Healer," he said quietly, his crimson eyes flickering faintly beneath the disguise.

Georgia laughed under her breath. "Alright, alright," she said innocently, patting Alina’s shoulder. "I was just teasing. But remember what I said, darling—don’t let your heart stay empty for too long."

Alina smiled awkwardly, still blushing. "I’ll keep that in mind."

"Okay, you two, now get out," Georgia said suddenly, clapping her hands once. "I want to check a few more things here."

Dante raised a brow. "Alone?" he asked, his tone calm but edged with suspicion.

Georgia gave him a sharp, meaningful look that said, don’t argue with me, Lord Demon, or I’ll expose every thought in that jealous head of yours. "Yes, alone," she said with a bright but firm smile. "You can stand guard outside if you want to feel useful."

Dante exhaled slowly through his nose, clearly unhappy but unwilling to start a scene.

Alina looked uncertain. "Will it take long?" she asked gently.

Georgia turned to her with a reassuring smile. "About an hour, maybe a little more. Don’t worry, dear. I’ll take good care of her."

Alina hesitated, then nodded. "Alright." She glanced at her mother once more before turning to Dante. "Sir, shall we wait outside?"

Dante nodded, his voice low. "Yes. Let’s go."

They stepped out together, and Georgia waited until the sound of their footsteps faded down the hall. Then she locked the door quietly behind them.

The cheerful warmth on her face disappeared, replaced by calm focus. She took a slow breath, turned toward Alina’s mother, and murmured softly, "Alright, let’s see what’s really going on inside you, dear."

Her hands rose gently, palms open. Within seconds, a faint shimmer of light began to gather between them, soft greenish-white energy swirling like mist, dotted with tiny white sparkles. It pulsed faintly, alive, humming in rhythm with her heartbeat.

Georgia closed her eyes, centering herself. The glow brightened as she moved her hands slowly over the woman’s head, stopping right above her forehead. The light reached forward like silk threads, sinking gently into her energy field.

"Show me..." Georgia whispered, her voice barely audible.
