I Became a Kindergarten Teacher for Monster Babies!-Chapter 278 Loyal little army
Rocky looked defensive. "You don’t lick rocks! You admire them!"
"Rocky, you need to be responsible in protest!" Boo said.
Dante let a faint smirk appear before turning to Luna. "And speaking of responsibility..." His voice dropped slightly lower. "I was actually planning something special for the wolf cubs today."
Luna’s ears perked up instantly. "Wolf cubs?"
"Yes," Dante continued smoothly, "a wood race in the north forest. A real one. The young cubs are training their paws and testing their hunting instincts. I thought I might give a medal to the fastest one."
Her golden brown eyes gleamed like fire. "You... you’re organizing a cub race and you didn’t invite me?" she barked, tail starting to wag furiously.
"I assumed the protest would keep you occupied," Dante said mildly, his expression unreadable.
Luna stood up at once, nose flaring. "I protest that! A wolf race without me is illegal!"
"Then I expect you’ll attend?"
"I’m already warming up my paws!" she growled proudly.
Meanwhile, Boo clutched his head. "Another one lost to temptation! First food, then shinies, now wolves, what’s next, singing water?"
"Funny you mention that," Dante said, turning his gaze toward Kelpie. "The fountain in the garden is being refilled with rainbow water this afternoon. The kind that hums when splashed."
Kelpie froze. "T-the hum-splash water?"
"Yes," Dante replied casually. "I suppose I’ll enjoy the sound alone."
Kelpie gasped dramatically. "Nooo! Water should be shared! I’ll... I’ll make sure the fountain doesn’t overflow!"
"Good," Dante said softly, his satisfaction nearly hidden beneath his composed tone.
Soon, only three tiny rebels remained, Sable, Boo, and Lucien.
They sat in front of his office like brave little soldiers, arms crossed, expressions firm. Boo still clutched his crumpled protest sign that read NO MISS ALINA, NO STUDY, looking ready to faint but unwilling to give up.
Dante looked at them, mildly impressed. "Still protesting?" he asked.
Lucien nodded firmly. "We’re not scared."
"Yeah!" Boo shouted, puffing his ghostly chest. "We are the teacher loyalty army! You can’t trick us!"
"And..." Sable hesitated, looking at his feet, his voice small. "And we... we just miss her..."
The silence that followed made even Boo’s defiance soften a little.
Dante sighed quietly. He crouched down so his tall shadow didn’t loom over them. "Miss Alina didn’t leave forever," he said gently. "She’s taking care of someone who’s sick. She’ll come back soon."
Lucien looked up, uncertain. "Really?"
"Yes," Dante said softly. "But if she sees her students were rude and made trouble while she was gone, what do you think she’ll feel?"
Sable’s lip trembled. "Sad..."
"Exactly." Dante smiled faintly. "So maybe we can make her happy instead, hmm?"
Boo squinted suspiciously. "This isn’t another bribe, right?"
Dante chuckled under his breath. "No. But..." He tilted his head thoughtfully. "I was planning to open Miss Alina’s surprise chest later today. The one she left in my office for her best students."
Boo gasped. "Surprise chest?! What’s inside? Candy? Stickers? Ghost snacks?"
"I wouldn’t know," Dante said calmly. "Only the most well-behaved students get to see."
Boo immediately ripped his protest sign in half and threw it dramatically in the air. "Boo resigns from protest! Boo becomes best student now!"
Lucien covered his face with his hand, sighing. "That was fast..."
"And what about you?" Dante turned to Sable, whose big eyes were filled with hesitation.
"I just... want to give Miss Alina my flower crown when she comes back," Sable whispered softly. "But... if she’s sad, maybe she won’t want it."
Dante’s expression softened. "She’ll love it," he said. "She’ll be proud that you made it yourself."
Sable’s face lit up instantly, his eyes shimmering. "Really? She will be proud?"
Dante nodded. "Of course."
Sable smiled brightly as his shadows fluttered around like excited ribbons.
Dante stood, his voice low and calm. "Good. Then it’s decided." He looked at Lucien next. "You’re not protesting anymore either, are you?"
Lucien sighed, finally lowering his tiny arms. "No. I’m just... waiting for her to come back."
Dante smiled faintly. "Then we all are."
Boo floated proudly beside them, hands on his hips. "Boo will guard her classroom until teacher returns!"
"Guard it?" Dante repeated, one eyebrow raised.
"Yes!" Boo declared. "No one enters unless they pass Boo’s dance test!"
Lucien pinched the bridge of his nose again. "Here we go..."
Sable giggled softly, tugging on Lucien’s sleeve. "It’s okay, Lucien. Boo’s guarding is funny."
Dante straightened, his dark cape sweeping lightly across the floor. "Alright then. Alina loyalty army, dismissed. Go eat the feast I have prepared for you before you start another revolution."
Boo saluted dramatically. "Aye, Principal!"
Everyone suddenly realized Drake was missing.
"Where’s the dragon?" Boo asked, looking around dramatically.
A loud shout came echoing from the hallway. "After protest, I’m sooo hungryyy!"
Luna groaned. "Oh my moon, he already ran to the dining hall again!"
"Doesn’t he ever stop eating?" Vlad Jr. muttered, dusting invisible specks off his uniform. "I’m still full from lunch during the break."
"Drake’s tummy is never-ending, never-ending!" Boo sang teasingly, sticking his tongue out before zooming through the air after him.
"Hey! Wait for me, flying troublemaker!" Luna barked, chasing him across the hall.
Vlad Jr. sighed dramatically, rolling his crimson eyes. "Honestly, commoners have no self-control," he said in his princely tone, then straightened his collar and ran too but elegantly, of course.
Kelpie clapped his webbed hands. "Food time! Water soup!" he chimed, happily splashing his way after them. Rocky followed right behind, muttering about "keeping plates safe from breakage."
Felix yawned and trudged lazily after the group, walking beside Lucien, who still looked thoughtful.
And soon, the once noisy corridor emptied except for a single small figure still standing near Dante.
Sable.
He clutched the edge of his uniform sleeves and looked up with wide eyes. "Can I see Miss Alina’s treasure chest?" he asked softly, his voice full of shy curiosity.
Dante looked down at him, his stern expression softening. "No, little one," he said gently. "When Miss Alina comes back, she will give it to you herself."
Sable blinked, disappointed for a second but then his cheeks pinked as Dante smiled and picked him up in his arms.
