Chapter 27 - New Beginnings and Chaos

- After 4 hours -

Lucas stared out of his window, the view of the city stretching endlessly before him. The faint whispers of life below sharply contrasted with the quiet stillness of his new apartment. He leaned against the cold glass, feeling the weight of everything that had led him to this moment. Siman, the battle, surviving—every moment seemed like a small piece. Yet here he was, standing in the life he had fought for, a life that still felt unreal.

"Wow, oh my God!" he whispered to himself. The view from his new apartment was breathtaking, even though the building itself wasn't anything special. The simplicity of the place suited him perfectly—it wasn't lavish, but it was comfortable. It was a place where he could finally breathe, a refuge from the chaos that had been chasing him for so long.

He sighed, resting his palm against the window. "Thank you, Siman. Thank you, Andre. If you weren't here, I wouldn't be here." The words slipped from his lips like a prayer, soft and sincere, though he knew Siman wasn't here to hear them.

With a slow, deliberate movement, he pulled away from the window and began scanning the apartment with his eyes. The living room was simply furnished, but everything he needed was here—a sofa, a dining table, and some basic appliances. It was perfect in its own way, a place he finally felt could be his.

He turned, walking toward the small room to the side where Andre and Darlene were sitting. Lucas smiled.

"Anything you want, sleep well," Lucas said in a calm, reassuring voice. He tossed them a set of simple, comfortable clothes, noticing the relief in their eyes. Both Andre and Darlene had gone through the unimaginable, and this moment of normalcy was a small gift they desperately needed.

"Thank you, Lucas," Darlene said, her voice warm but tired. She was exhausted, and it was clear from the way she moved. Andre didn't say much, only nodding, his expression unreadable, but there was gratitude in the way his shoulders relaxed.

Lucas turned to head toward the bathroom. "I'm going to take a shower," he said, his mind starting to wander. "This is life," he muttered to himself, even though the words felt hollow. How could life be normal after everything that had happened?

As the hot water washed over him, Lucas' thoughts drifted. Now, standing in this small, private space, he felt a strange sense of freedom. But what was freedom? Was it the power he had gained? Or was it this apartment? Or was it simply surviving while so many others had perished?

He leaned against the bathroom wall, steam rising around him, and his mind began to piece together everything he had learned, every shard of truth he had uncovered in the past weeks. "If this is life... what now?"

Far from the tranquility Lucas was experiencing, chaos erupted in the streets of the city. A small child was walking beside his mother, the two of them making their way through the busy city center. The child was holding his mother's hand, his small face filled with innocence, unaware of the destruction about to unfold.

The world around them seemed normal, calm, until it no longer was.

Without warning, a deafening explosion rocked the air, shaking the very foundations of the city. The child stumbled, falling to the ground as the earth trembled beneath him. A cloud of smoke and debris filled the sky, and the once-bustling streets were now filled with screams and chaos.

The child's eyes widened in terror as he looked up, watching half of a nearby building collapse with a thunderous roar. People were running in all directions, screaming, pushing, and scrambling in panic. He reached out for his mother's hand, but it was empty. She was gone. Lost in the chaos. He looked around, horrified, seeing nothing but destruction and mayhem.

On the battlefield, the fight between Siman, the Lord of Chaos, and Shi Yang was still raging. Buildings were shaking, windows shattering, and the streets were filled with debris from their destructive battle. Siman's form moved with unnatural speed, while his chaotic powers exploded in violent surges, tearing the fabric of reality itself. He was a natural force, untamed and merciless.

Shi Yang, on the other hand, was a force of precision and calculated rage. His scythe sliced through the air with deadly intent, each strike sending swarms of golden flies into the fray. These flies surrounded Siman, attacking him from all angles, but the Lord of Chaos was no easy prey. With every swing of his massive sword, he smashed the flies out of the air, leaving destruction in his wake.

The battle intensified, and with every movement, it seemed the fighters grew stronger. Siman's chaotic energy surged, creating a vortex of destruction, while Shi Yang's control over his golden flies became more precise.

For the onlookers, it was a terrifying sight, one that would be etched into their memories forever. Explosions ripped through the air, and the earth itself cracked beneath the weight of the fighters' powers. There was no end in sight, no indication of who would prevail. But that didn't matter. The streets had already been lost. The city was doomed.

Lucas emerged from the bathroom, his mind still swirling with thoughts. He dried his body, his hands moving automatically as he tried to shake off the constant feeling of awe that seemed to cling to him. As he put on his new clothes, he felt a heaviness in the air.

When he returned to the living room, Andre and Darlene were sitting at the table, eating in silence. Lucas could feel the weight of their exhaustion, the emotional burden placed on them by the recent events. But for now, they were alive. And for that, they had to be grateful.

"Is everything okay?" Lucas asked, his voice softer now.

Darlene looked at him, offering a tired smile. "Yes."

Andre nodded, always the quiet one.

"I know," Lucas said, his voice gentle but firm. "But we're here. We're still breathing. That's something."
