The demon fox suddenly had an epiphany—something she should have realized long ago.

The few white foxes who sacrificed themselves to summon her were probably just little minions, even though those guys thought they knew a lot.

But thinking about it, those guys went through all that trouble, just to contact the Great Wilderness, and even got the most crucial information wrong.

They don't even have the most basic understanding of the white foxes, what could people like that possibly know?

The information attached to their sacrificial ritual was probably mostly incorrect anyway.

What's with all this talk about "ordinary people" and "everyone is so weak"? What's the point?

Does she care about those ordinary people?

The Yang energy of those normals, whether in quality or quantity, wasn't remotely comparable to Wen Yan's.

What she cared about was how strong the strongest people in this world actually are, and how many of them there are.

She just couldn't believe that, among more than a billion people—such a massive, terrifying number—there would be so few like Wen Yan.

Based on the intel she'd gotten, Wen Yan was apparently just a mid-tier at best.

Plus, the place where she'd arrived, the Great Wilderness, and the rifts here—all that was considered highly sensitive information.

Yet to the Scorching Sun Department, it wasn't even a secret.

The demon fox's mentality had already undergone some sort of strange change.

She'd just arrived, barely rebuilt her physical body, and immediately bumped into someone who could walk the Nether Path in the flesh, and cross that terrifying Yin River in the flesh.

But the main thing was, these people were too crafty—even she'd ended up fooled by them!

That was what she found truly terrifying.

Such a half-assed act, and she still thought it was real.

Just thinking about it made her hair stand on end, cold sweat pouring down, her whole body freezing up.

This damn place—way too scary.

Wen Yan came over. Seeing that the demon fox hadn't run off and wasn't making any moves, he relaxed a little.

Looks like the power of the Alter-Face Fist shouldn't be underestimated. After the charm effect got nerfed, the demon fox was way more well-behaved.

Upon closer look, the demon fox's face was pale, and she looked off. But Wen Yan didn't consider the train of thought she was on.

He studied her for a moment, and the more he looked, the more familiar she seemed.

Then, he stuck out the back of his hand, touched the demon fox's forehead, and had a sudden realization.

"You've caught a cold. You've got a fever."

The demon fox froze for a second, thinking, I've already gotten chubbier by two rounds, how could I have a fever?

But then, she found another explanation in the new bits of common knowledge she'd picked up.

She'd caught a cold. She was sick.

The demon fox looked dazed. For a while, she couldn't react—wait, was she actually sick?!

This new body was really this frail?

Once she confirmed that, the demon fox got even more listless.

This fragile body: got pummeled by Wen Yan, then dragged to forcibly walk the Nether Path, and now here she was in the Nether Soul Realm, getting scared half to death.

After a chain of blows like that, just getting sick was pretty much a stroke of good luck.

But, she still couldn't get it—she could recover even from a broken neck, so why was she getting sick?

"Sick"—this word was so foreign to her.

The group took a car, and when they returned to the real world, the demon fox was already burning up, fuzzy-headed, and shivering with cold all over.

Wen Yan looked at the demon fox, curled up and all muddle-headed, and he was at a bit of a loss.

Originally, having thrashed the demon fox and fattened her up, Wen Yan expected her charm powers to crash, and was planning to just send her off to the Scorching Sun Department—wash his hands of the matter.

Whatever the Scorching Sun Department wanted to interrogate, however they wanted to wring out her intel, that'd be their business.

But now, seeing that the demon fox was clearly running a high fever, Wen Yan sighed. Well, since she's been obedient enough, he'd take her to the hospital first.

On the way, Wen Yan got a call from Feng Yao.

"The demon fox is sick, running a high fever, she's totally out of it. I took her to the hospital. Honestly, if her fever gets any worse, her brain's going to fry."

On the other end, Feng Yao sucked in a sharp breath—Wen Yan was this brutal?

"You didn't kill her, right? We really need info from the other side right now."

"Not my fault!

It's those melon-peel white foxes, the stuff they used for the sacrifice was a mess.

This demon fox's old body got wrecked, and the new one she patched together is chock-full of defects.

Now we know what one of those defects is—her new body's way too fragile, she's like a glass-skinned college kid."

Feng Yao was speechless. However he tried, he never would've guessed that a demon fox from the Great Wilderness would come here, and immediately get sick. Running such a bad fever she was practically delirious.

The demon fox got sent to the hospital, the Scorching Sun Department people showed up, and they ran blood tests and a whole round of checkups.

Then Wen Yan saw a fat stack of test results, with arrows flagging half the results as way out of normal—the guy was totally floored.

It wasn't just a cold—the demon fox had already developed pneumonia, and the scans even showed she had fractures and a bit of misalignment in her neck vertebrae.

Plus, she basically didn't have any antibodies in her system. Even if she needed more vaccines, now wasn't the time to catch up on them.

She was just like someone who'd never been exposed to the modern environment, with a barely-passable constitution, suddenly thrown into modern society.

Bacteria that'd barely register to normal people could wreck havoc on her.

Within less than an hour of getting to the hospital, Wen Yan was holding a critical condition notice in his hands, totally stunned.

Feng Yao stood to the side, just as bewildered as Wen Yan.

A demon fox from the Great Wilderness—even if she rebuilt her body, even if the new flesh was fragile, how could she possibly be this much of a glass cannon?
