Chapter 277: Stay behind

Ravi and Arlen looked at each other.

"We did not come back for a vacation. Mother, we would need all the resources that can be made readily available for us." Arlen’s voice was serious and he sat up straight.

"Please, believe me, your son, Anouk is in serious danger. We need to find him as soon as possible."

The greenhouse was suddenly quiet and Ravi bit his lips. He knew it would not be so easy for him to convince them to believe him and the system was still reloading and was at 76%.

He could only patiently wait for it to reach 100%. However, until it did, it could barely help him.

He looked at Arlen and then back at his family.

"I am not playing with ..."

"We know. However, Anouk is not missing. He is in his room." Julian’s matter-of-fact voice did not leave any room for doubt.

"Not his room, he told me he was going to the darkroom for a while," Raphael said. Anouk had returned out of sorts so he had suggested he rest in the dark room.

"My Dad built it when Anouk was younger because he would get nightmares. It is like a sensory deprivation room. It is truly good for him.

Lysandra closed her eyes and Ravi could feel her energy spread like a wave, encompassing the entire mansion. Her energy was a lot like Arlen, with it, but it was much much more powerful than Arlen’s.

Ravi’s energy intertwined with hers, subtle and barely noticeable as she spread her ability through the ground in magnetic pulses.

He felt it, even before she did and his eyebrows narrowed.

"He is not there." Arlen who had fallen into a sense of comfort after meeting his parents stiffened.

Raphael noticed his expression and frowned, "What is..." He stopped in the middle of his sentence when Lysandra stood up.

She took out two balls from her pocket. Ravi could feel the heavy metal in those objects. Lysandra controlled the magnetic field around the balls, using it to propel herself up, she flew up, straight into the mansion.

Raphael waved his hand and Ravi could feel the soft but strong wind energy that surrounded them.

Everyone was silent and only the sharp wailing of the wind resounded in the air. In the next minute, they were outside a room.

Lysandra was talking to a young woman in a black uniform, "Madame, Second Young Master has not left his room. I have been waiting for him here; he said that I should bring the Cannes Attack Report for him."

Lysandra walked to the room. The room seemed to the embedded into the wall, not showing any structure for a door. There was only a small white scanner.

"Raphael?"

Raphael nodded, walking forward and placing his thumb on the scanner. The room opened.

Ravi had never seen a room like this before. The air was still, almost too still that it made one feel like they were floating into the room.

The walls were soft and lined with some kind of padding that absorbed sound. Even the floor, it was made with a kind of material that gave no sound as you walked in. However, the uniqueness of the room was not the most important thing on hand.

Anouk was not in this room.

The young woman outside had already contacted the control room of the Mansion, "Madame, Sirs, the Second Young Master used a Wrapping Device. They said that they could not trace the wrapping device. Should I contact the Trackers?" She said, there was no panic in her voice, she sounded calm and composed. Such was the training of the staff of the Sinclair Family.

"Contact the Trackers. Call Arthur, Raphael. Tell him to come back home. Arlen, Ravi, I need a little more information. You said Anouk is in some kind of danger, what kind of danger." Her voice was light but as she stood there, a boundless pressure filled the surroundings and her aura was even more deep and overbearing.

Beep!

Ravi was unaffected by her aura and his eyes widened at the sound. He nodded apologetically and moved away.

He had successfully reconnected. Since his account was active, both the Elders and other Sentinels could contact him.

There were more than ten thousand messages from various people. He ignored it, checking to make sure that his points were untouched. Then, he accessed the common room.

Lysandra blinked, the chill in her eyes reducing somewhat. She turned to Julian, instructing him on what to do. One might think she was making a fuss for a 31-year-old son who had been missing for less than an hour but for some reason, Lysandra could feel her heart beating faster.

A cold sense of danger that she had never felt before seemed to be taking root in her heart.

Something just happened. Something terrible.

"Sandra, you cannot be serious. You want me to mobilize them because of this Ravi." His lips were pursed as his eyes fluttered to Ravi.

Lysandra knew that Julian always needed a little more time but she felt like they did not have enough time.

"Julian. Trust me."

Julian paused and he nodded, "I will do as you say. I would go to the Command Center and wait for instructions." His face was cold and calm, without any single expression lining his face.

He turned to leave and then paused, turning to pat Arlen on his shoulder, "We would find Anouk, and drag him back here hale and hearty. So don’t go around wearing that expression." After speaking, he turned to leave.

Arlen was fiddling with his gun. Even though he knew his gun would probably do nothing in the larger scheme of things and that his ability was better to rely on, Arlen could not help it.

His mother came closer to him, "Arlen. You might need to stay here."

Arlen knew what his mother was saying. It was not a consideration at all for him, "That is not possible, Mum."

Lysandra raised her eyebrow. When was the last time Arlen had called her, ’Mum’?

"I know I am not as strong as he is, but I am not going to let him do anything alone. Mum, I don’t want him to be a hero again."
