Chapter 267: Miss you

She looked at the plate in front of her. She picked up a piece of rice ball with cabbage.

The crystal white rice was tightly wrapped in the cabbage leaf and there was a faint scent of sesame oil. Cucumber, fried egg, and crabmeat were all sandwiches inside, making the roll look even more brightly colored, teasing the appetite.

"Don’t talk nonsense."

"Yap. Still the Ravi I know." She put the rice in her mouth and tasted it carefully. ƒreewebɳovel.com

Ravi had paid attention and knowing Lisa’s love for sticky things, he had added a small amount of glutinous rice. He had tasted it; the cucumbers were fresh from the garden. The crab meat was seasoned lightly, it was rich but not greasy and the fried egg tied everything together.

The key was the sauce he used; he had seen it on social media and decided to experiment on Lisa.

He was not wicked, not completely; he had also experimented on his family members as well.

Lisa had no idea about the fact that she was eating a recipe that Ravi did not even have the mercy to test out before serving. Not that she would have minded, it was just tasty.

After having the cabbage rice rolls, he took out the second compartment of the food flask to reveal crispy pork. The small piece of the pork had been deep-fried, yet no trace of oil accompanied deep-fried food.

After biting into the crispy, slightly spicy, and crunchy skin, the meat inside was fresh and juicy, tender and very delicious.

The pork was an already flavorful meat so all Ravi had to do to dress the pork meat was salt and pepper.

Lisa took another and then another and then sighed.

Seeing that Ravi pointedly ignored her.

She let out another sigh, long and forlorn.

Ravi had to push down his desire to roll his eyes and ask with what was all the kindness left in him at this moment, "What is it?"

"If I knew you were so good. I would have moved over to Harlem years ago. What kind of curse, are you not happy and thriving?"

Ravi blinked, could it be that this young woman had forgotten how strong he was? Live in Harlem for, the last two years when he would not have been bothered to help. The remaining creatures from the leftover Nest would have eaten her and there would not be a body to bury.

Now he thinks about it, he should better fix Harlem up, especially the area where they lived. Arlen might move in soon and when Ash’s friends come to visit, it would be great if they do not have to go through the abandoned streets as if they were going to visit a haunted house.

Then it would be noisy. He did not like noise. He rubbed his hands together with a grin. He had bought the two-story building that he lived in for 5,000 dollars. Maybe he should buy out some of the buildings around them and then begin to renovate Harlem.

Even if Davenport citizens did not want to move in because of the curse, he was sure that out-of-town families would not mind settling in Harlem.

While he did not mind waddling through the filth to get home, he did not want the same for Arlen or Asher or even Malik, Sage, and Lana.

"You totally looked like a villain right now. What are you scheming?"

Ravi blinked innocently, "Nothing partner."

He stood up and walked around the room, noticing the flowers next to the window stand. He raised an eyebrow to face Lisa.

"Don’t look at me. Isn’t it Draco going crazy?" Lisa shouted. And for the first time in a long time, she sounded like herself. It reminded Ravi of when she was a new recruit and stood in front of Draco, glaring at him down. His lips twitched. Speaking of Draco, he had been acting a little weird lately. No, not lately.

"So he brought you flowers. That is...nice." Ravi was not sure the word he should use and settled for the most affable one.

"Like Draco does nice. He is scheming something. What if he knows that the Captain gave me a transfer document and tries to come to the Capital so he can keep disturbing me?

He even gave me this plush pillow and said that it did not fit the aesthetics of his apartment like he knows what aesthetics is if it hits him in the face. Lisa rolled her eyes, raising the soft purple pillow that she had been happily leaning on.

"Oh." Ravi felt like something was off but he was not sure what it was. Draco and Lisa had always had each other by the throat; there was a time they had even got into a battle on who would make more arrests.

Ravi had shut it down so quickly, refusing to work more than usual and Sarah who had to pick up her child from school wanted nothing to do with it either.

"Wait, the capital?"

"Yes. Told you I wanted to leave Davenport, luckily the Capital had a transfer document for a police officer to the Capital, not the headquarters, though. I am still thinking about it. I know if I leave now, we will not have enough staff."

The document that Rey had brought for Arlen to transfer him back to the Capital. Ravi’s lips curled so much that Lisa noticed it.

"Are you that happy that I decided not to go? True, you barely have any other friends. Fine, I would ..."

"I will help you pack," Ravi said seriously.

Seeing Lisa’s expression, he fought back his laughter saying seriously, "Lisa, think about the relocation allowance, the health insurance and it is the Capital. How many followers would you have if you moved to the Capital? If you say no, maybe we would need to check you in the psychiatric ward.

Lisa paused and then covered the food flask, readjusting the blanket around her waist so she could face Ravi properly, "I think I liked you better before. You talk too much now?

Ravi was walking around the room and then paused, "That is a lie."

Lisa’s eyes flashed and suddenly they had a misty sheen to them.

"Hey! Lisa...."

"I just think that I am going to miss you, Ravi."
