Chapter 227: Teasing Draco

The drive back to Davenport after their late lunch was more relaxed. If there is anything that Ravi had learned on this Earth is that humans tend to function better with food.

No matter how tight the schedule is or how stressful the situation is, one must not forget to fuel their body and mind with food.

The wrinkle on Arlen’s forehead had even faded as he browsed through the information on his laptop.

"Ravi...Officer West, can I see the portrait again?" Arlen asked, stretching his hand to collect the drawing from Ravi. In the absence of an official police artist, Ravi had volunteered to try and craft the image from the words of Agatha, it was not truly helpful as the other had just repeatedly claimed that all she could recall was that the man was very handsome and had particularly kind eyes. Kind green eyes.

It was five months ago, after all. Even though the features were in her mind, whenever she tried to recall them, all she could reach were mere fragments.

There was no doubt that this mystery man who had dated the first victim among all 21 was going to be a key integral part of this case. If the police could not find even more information, then they would go to the public.

Someone must have caught them on some kind of tape.

The drawer on the paper did not look like one drawn by the artists that Arlen was so familiar with seeing. The strokes were distinct, with a kind of old, traditional lines to it. It looked more like portraits that could be hung up in his father’s office and then subtly boasted by his Papa about to some guest.

"Oh that drawing, My dear gave it to me. The artist is not really known, Lacrosse Teninom, an old farmer that died 700 years ago."

He shivered at how accurate the scene was in his mind and he looked at the portrait in his hand. The facial features were not vivid enough, not the kind green eyes that seemed to stare directly at him.

But why did these kind green eyes look somewhat empty to him?

"Could you match it to any of the faces in our database?"

"I could try when I get back but I don’t think I will get a good result. The portrait is not detailed enough. Should we release the picture of Mary Taylor and ask for more information from the public?"

"Not yet," Arlen said. There was still a possibility that someone was missing and was being held in custody by the killer. Besides, there has not been any straight evidence linking the killer to Mary Taylor’s partner and any wrong moves might harm an innocent person.

Ravi looked at him from the mirror and his lips twitched. He was not surprised.

Draco watched him suspiciously. They parked the car and Arlen got down but before Ravi could, Draco held his hand.

Arlen knocked on the door to ask why he was not coming down, Ravi rolled down the window.

"We would be right in, Captain." He then turns to Draco, the softness in his eyes vanishing.

"What is it? Are you scared of the case?"

"Of course not." Draco shouted hotly before he lowered his voice, "You...You are close to the Captain."

Ravi leaned back and watched him, "Are you jealous? I have no intention to flatter him for a transfer so you can go ahead."

Draco blinked and almost sparkled, "What do you mean flatter him? I like Captain Sinclair very much..."

Ravi raised his hand to stop him even though he knew what his colleague was talking about, an irrational part of him wanted to be sure, "When you say Like, what on earth are you talking about? What kind of like."

The sound of teeth clenching could be heard in the police car, "You! Get out of my car."

"It is a police car."

Draco opened the car and without waiting a second, he slammed the car door shut and headed inside the police Bureau, not even noticing Arlen in his fury to get into the Bureau.

Young people.

"What did you say to him?" Arlen said as he leaned on the wall waiting for Ravi to walk up the stairs.

Ravi was surprised to see him waiting. He thought he would rush in to see Korra for the Toxicology report.

Ravi’s lips twitched as he looked in the direction of Draco fled. Where did he pick up this bad habit to tease people?

He looked at Arlen who was leaning against the wall and smiled, reminding him, "Today at lunch, you were too close. He noticed something was off."

"Ah! Is that why he was so quiet during the ride back?" Arlen said.

Ravi nodded as he fell in step beside Arlen, "You should be more careful. It would not do if anyone is distracted during this period."

"Me, what did I..." Arlen stopped laughing, stopping in his tracks as he entered the office. A young man was sitting on Lisa’s desk and she was giggling as she chatted with him.

Ravi raised his eyebrow when Arlen stopped before his gaze also went to where he was watching. The man did not seem tall, he was around 5’6 and slender. Someone like this would definitely need drugs to overpower a fighter like Emily Wilson.

Ravi did not know why that particular thought entered his head. He shook it away and walked with Arlen towards the desk.

"Officer Johnson," Arlen called out with a rare strictness in his voice that Ravi was not accustomed to hearing. He understood why Arlen was angry, he had done his best to prevent the media from catching a whiff of the news of a serial killer to prevent panic and now, there was someone unidentified close to investigation materials.

Lisa immediately stood up, she had been so distracted by her boyfriend that she had not noticed the Captain come in. She hurriedly stood up with the man who turned to face them.

He had brown hair and brown eyes.

Ravi did not know why he let out a sigh of relief at the thought.

"Sorry. Please don’t scold Lili..."

Lisa gave him a punch on his waist and the man rubbed his head in embarrassment, "I mean Officer Johnson, I am the one who let myself in. She had not been coming home for some nights so I came to bring lunch for her." He shook his hand in front of him, "I am not a reporter or anything."
