I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 705 - 703: Pregnant?! (27)
"What did she say before you pushed her down the stairs?"
"I can’t remember."
"If she hadn’t said anything to provoke you, you wouldn’t have pushed her down the stairs in a fit of anger. But now, you claim you can’t remember. This is completely illogical. I think you’re lying!"
"I’m not."
"You are!"
"I’m not lying. I killed her. I pushed her down. It has nothing to do with Kris Cooper."
"You’re lying."
"Enough!"
Seeing Vera Wave being questioned, Kris Cooper couldn’t stand it anymore. He stood up once again from his chair.
BANG!
The judge pounded the gavel hard.
"Silence!"
As Kris Cooper struggled, Christopher Cooper and Tommy Taylor took hold of him by his arms and dragged him out of the door.
"Don’t you dare harm her! It wasn’t her who killed the person, it was me! I did it! Let her go! You bastards..." he continued to yell as the two men dragged him toward the door.
Hearing his voice, Vera Wave lifted her face again. Her small, resolute face stared steadfastly at the prosecutor.
"I’m not lying! I killed Liliana Davis! I killed her! I killed her! Do you hear me?! I’m guilty, and I’ll take my punishment. I am willing to accept it! You think you can mislead me into slandering my loved one, but I tell you, you can’t! He’s innocent. Kris Cooper is innocent! He never killed anyone. He never hurt anyone, not ever."
The courtroom fell silent.
Bailey Hansen raised her hand to wipe her eyes. Not just her; Merlin Bradley and the others were all crying. Even the normally cold Kate Palmer had red eyes.
Turning her face to the judge, Vera Wave took a deep breath. Her pale little face was filled with determination and defiance.
"Your Honor, please find me guilty. This was all my fault, and I am willing to accept punishment."
The prosecutor opened his mouth, speechless.
He had participated in many cases and seen all kinds of people, but this was the first time he had encountered someone so eager to accept punishment. Even he was at a loss for words.
"Your Honor!" Sophia Thompson spoke up again. "My client may have made a mistake, but I still believe she is kind-hearted. This incident was merely a coincidence, an accident. Her initial intention certainly wasn’t to take someone’s life. Therefore, I implore Your Honor and the collegiate panel to consider her good attitude in pleading guilty and the fact that she turned herself in, and to grant her a lenient sentence."
At this point, a plea of innocence was no longer possible. The only course of action was to try and reduce her sentence as much as possible.
The judge pounded the gavel and announced a temporary recess.
Inside the break room, Christopher Cooper forcefully threw Kris Cooper into a chair.
"’She never did it. She’s taking the blame for me,’" Kris Cooper gritted his teeth and growled.
"’I know.’" Christopher Cooper stepped forward. He pressed down on his son’s shoulders, forcing him back into the chair. Leaning in, his face close to his son’s, he snarled through gritted teeth, "’But you have to understand! Right now, you can’t take the fall for her!’"
Those words left Kris Cooper slumped in the chair.
He lifted his hands, forcefully grabbing at his own hair.
Tommy Taylor stood to the side, looking at him, and sighed deeply.
After a moment, Bailey Hansen and Sophia Thompson returned to the break room.
Seeing his state, Bailey Hansen walked over, her heart aching, and put a hand on her son’s shoulder.
"Kris, Mom understands how you feel. Don’t worry. No matter what it takes, I will get her out."

Good night.
