Looking at everything familiar, thinking of the beautiful times she spent here with her father as a child, her heart ached dully once again.

She thought Grandma would already be resting, but as soon as she entered the courtyard, she saw a person sitting on the wooden bench of the corridor, the light shining on her gray hair—it was Grandma Wave.

"Grandma, why aren’t you asleep yet?"

"I’m not sleepy. Worried your dad might forget his key, I came out to wait for him." Grandma Wave’s face was full of kindness, "Go on, Kendrick prepared some soup for you in the kitchen, help yourself to a bowl."

"Grandma, I’m not hungry." Vera Wave stepped forward, "Come on, Dad can’t make it home today, I’ll take you back to rest."

"Why can’t he come home again?" Grandma Wave furrowed her brow, "It feels like I haven’t seen Walter Wave for ages!"

"Ah!" Grandma Wave sighed, "I’m old; I truly forgot."

"This is a wisteria, the same kind of flower you saw in Japan when I took you there. Didn’t you say you liked it? I’ll plant one for you too, and by next spring, it will bloom!"

In the early morning, she left the old house, driving her car out of the alley, wandering aimlessly in the streets. When the car finally stopped, she realized she had somehow arrived below the Glimmer Building.

Kris Cooper hadn’t come to the company for several days, and she was unsure about the situation here.

Pressing her lips together, she drove into the underground parking lot and took the elevator upstairs.

As it was still early, nowhere near office hours, the company was quite quiet. When she reached the upper floor, only two cleaners were working.
