Chapter 651: Chapter 651: I Mean Your Period! (4)

"Honey..."

Originally, she wanted to tease him, but just as her hand slipped under his collar, the food delivery guy pushed the door open and walked in.

Hearing the noise, Vera jumped in surprise and quickly pulled her hand back.

The delivery guy took it all in, quickly lowering his head.

"Sorry, sorry!"

Vera wished she could find a hole to crawl into in her regret. The delivery guy set down the food and quickly left, while Kris Cooper chuckled softly to the side.

The little girl gritted her teeth and buried herself in her meal, ignoring him.

After dinner, the two of them got in the car and left together.

Kris Cooper was still laughing while driving.

She gave him a disdainful sidelong glance, "Laugh, laugh, laugh—what’s so funny!"

Kris Cooper reached over with his right hand and ruffled her little head.

The car continued forward, and Kris Cooper’s phone started vibrating.

He took out the phone and put it to his ear, speaking calmly.

"Hello?"

"It’s me, Liliana Davis!"

"You?!" Kris Cooper tightened his grip on the steering wheel, "What’s up?"

"I want to talk to you."

"Is there really anything to talk about between us?"

"I believe... there is!"

"Time and place."

Liliana Davis stated an address.

"Okay, see you tomorrow."

After hanging up, Kris Cooper casually stuffed the phone into his pocket. He glanced at Vera, who was staring out the window at the street scene, and took a light breath.

"Vera, if your husband didn’t tell you the truth about something, would you be mad at me?"

"It depends on what it is!" Vera turned to face him and noticed his right sleeve was a bit loose, so she reached out to fix it, "Why, are you doing bad things behind my back and seeing someone else?"

"Of course not."

"Then it’s fine." Vera held onto his right arm, "I can allow you to have a little bit of privacy!"

Kris Cooper smiled at her and ultimately didn’t mention anything about Liliana Davis.

First, everything hadn’t been completely figured out yet.

Second, he didn’t want to make Vera sad.

Right now, her being happy and carefree every day was better than anything. He could handle those matters himself.

If she found out, she’d be in a difficult position.

On one side was her father, and on the other was Nathan Leafcastle, whom she saw as a brother, and his mother. Just thinking about it was heartbreaking.

The car arrived below the apartment building, and Kris Cooper parked the car and took her upstairs.

Vera leaned against the elevator wall, hesitating for a while before finally succumbing to curiosity.

"Honey!" She giggled as she edged closer to him, "What was it you were talking about earlier?"

"Didn’t you say you allowed me a bit of privacy?"

"But if you don’t tell me, I won’t know. Now you mention it, so I’m curious?" She laughed, winking at him, "Share, won’t you?"

He shook his head.

"Honey!"

She tugged on his arm, shaking it.

He suddenly scooped her up and walked out of the elevator, carrying her all the way into the apartment.

They both fell onto the bed, and he helped her sit up straight.

"If you take the lead tonight, I’ll tell you!"

She knew it, he was teasing her, there was no secret at all!

"Keep dreaming. I’m not listening!"

The little girl pouted, trying to get up and escape, but the man had already rolled over, pinning her beneath him.

"I gave you a chance, and you didn’t take it. Don’t blame me for not telling you later."

Before she could retort, he had already lifted his hand to brush away her stray locks, pressing his lips against hers.
