I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 595 - 593: It Was a Woman (2)
"Just fell asleep..." Kris Cooper gently pushed open the terrace door, lifted the curtain to check on Vera Wave, who had turned over with a frown on her pillow, "Didn’t sleep well, but her mood is okay."
"Then there’s no rush to come back. Since the situation isn’t as bad as we imagined, there’s no need to worry too much. By the way... you mentioned a minor accident, are you guys okay?"
"A narrow escape."
Andre Colin noticeably sighed in relief.
"That’s good, we’ll meet in Las Vegas."
A knock on the door sounded.
"Someone’s here, you go to sleep, I have other things to deal with, will call you if needed." Kris Cooper hung up the phone, checked on Vera, then stepped outside and opened the door.
Outside the door stood the person in charge of the American branch and his female assistant, along with two police officers.
After a brief introduction, the person in charge explained their visit; the officers came to reconfirm some matters.
Instructing the female assistant to watch over Vera in the bedroom, Kris Cooper led the three men to the study room in the suite.
Once seated, the officers asked Kris Cooper some more details and shared their investigation results.
"The driver died on the spot, he didn’t have insurance or credit cards... currently, his identity is still being further confirmed." The chubby officer shrugged helplessly, "We checked the video at that time, he didn’t have any collision with any other cars; he suddenly veered off the road. Since the autopsy report and the vehicle report haven’t come out yet, we’re not sure if he was drunk or if there was something wrong with the car..."
Upon hearing this, Kris Cooper’s eyebrows furrowed in displeasure.
"Useless!"
The officer said so much yet, in essence, said nothing at all.
The two officers looked a little displeased but remained silent.
Kris Cooper leaned back against the sofa, "I want to see the video."
"We will investigate everything thoroughly and give you an explanation, but you cannot view the video personally."
Kris Cooper shrugged.
"What else do you want to ask?"
Noticing his impatient tone, the officers asked a few more questions before getting up to leave, and Kris Cooper made no effort to see them out.
As soon as the two officers stepped out of the suite, he stood up and sat behind the desk, turning on the computer.
Quickly, he accessed the municipal security network and pulled up the video from the incident site—what he wanted to see, no one could stop him.
The video showed it was a Mercedes-Benz car driving on the lane, moving slowly, then suddenly accelerating and veering off to crash straight into his parked car.
Judging from the speed and direction at the time, it didn’t look like an accident.
It seemed more like a deliberate crash.
The direction from which the car came formed a straight line with his car and the roadside guardrail, and Vera was sitting in the passenger seat at the time; if she hadn’t noticed the situation and jumped out in time, she surely would have been crushed.
After downloading the video, he traced along the street’s cameras one by one and quickly discovered the car’s route completely overlapped with his and Vera’s route.
At six consecutive intersections, it was the same situation; this couldn’t possibly be a coincidence.
This guy was tracking him and Vera!
Lightly tapping the Enter key to freeze the frame, Kris Cooper casually picked up a pen and noted down the car’s license plate number.
