I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 549 - 547: The Gate of Memories (Part 1)
Kris Cooper raised his eyebrows slightly and shook his head helplessly.
"Alright, I’ll forgive you this time."
The young girl was naturally overjoyed upon hearing this and immediately wrapped her arms around him.
"You’re the best, hubby..."
As her body touched his chest, she felt a sharp pain, and before she could finish her words, she inhaled sharply and pushed him away.
"Ouch—Kris Cooper, are you a dog?!"
"Wrong, I’m a wolf!" The man said with amusement and concern as he looked at her chest. "Wolves love to eat little white rabbits!"
Looking down at her bare chest, she blushed and hurriedly pulled the blanket over herself.
He took out a box of ointment and some cotton swabs from the drawer, pulled back her blanket, and carefully applied some on her. Vera’s face turned red with embarrassment, and she dared not move.
A moment later, he put away the ointment and gently helped her pull her shirt back and buttoned it loosely.
"Hubby, I’m hungry."
"What do you want to eat?"
"What do we have at home?"
"Wolf meat!"
She was stunned for a moment, then realized and angrily scolded him.
"Shameless!"
The man didn’t mind, only reached out and pinched her cheek.
"Wait here, hubby will get you something to eat!"
He went downstairs to fetch some snacks for her to tide over her hunger and then called to order some food. She held the snack plate and ate heartily while he sat beside her, quietly watching her eat.
Outside the window, dusk was approaching, and everything was peaceful and beautiful.

Nathan Leafcastle sat by the desk, holding that document in his hand as scenes from the day in the garage flashed before his eyes again.
...
"Vera, are you happy now?"
"I feel very happy."
...
Her voice echoed in his ears. Nathan glanced at the document in his hand, closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then reached out to tear open the outer folder of the document.
Holding that stack of documents, he walked to the shredder, slowly raised his hand to place the papers at the shredding slot, and pressed the switch.
The shredder hummed softly, feeding the documents in sheet by sheet, turning them into thin strips of paper.
Watching the shredded paper strips, Nathan spoke softly.
"Vera, I wish you happiness!"
The door was knocked lightly.
Nathan turned around in surprise and went to open the door, only to see his mother in her nightgown standing outside.
"Mom? Why... aren’t you asleep yet?"
"When you get older, you sleep lightly. I heard some noises in your room, so I came to check." Liliana Davis turned her head slightly to glance at the shredder’s direction, "Why are you still working this late?"
"I’m not working." Nathan led her inside and got her a glass of water, "I’ve destroyed all the documents I found earlier. I just thought it over carefully; both you and Sally are right. Since Vera feels happy now, there’s no need to uncover these truths. Otherwise, she’ll only be in more pain."
Liliana Davis took a deep breath and a smile appeared on her face.
"Nathan, it’s good you’re thinking this way. The past is already behind us. In the future... cherish the one you have now, alright?" She glanced towards his bedroom, "Is Sally asleep?"
"Yes." Nathan nodded, "I’ve thought it through; from now on, I will treat her well."
Liliana Davis smiled and patted his shoulder, "Sally is a good girl. You’ve made the right decision. Alright, if there’s nothing else, you should go to sleep. I’ll handle tidying up."
"No need."
"Listen. You’re still young, your health is important. At my age, once I wake up, I can’t fall back asleep. Let me handle it."
