Chapter 530: Chapter 528: Becoming Famous (Part 2)

"No rush, Nathan!" The girl smiled gently and considerately, "I’ll wait for you. Whenever you’re ready, we’ll get married!"

She had waited for him for six years; what does waiting a bit longer matter?

Meeting her gaze, Nathan Leafcastle’s heart was full of apology. Holding her again, he spoke softly.

"I’m sorry for making you wait so long!"

Sally Dalton lifted her face from his embrace, "Haven’t we always been together all these years?"

Other than not breaking the thin layer of romantic relationship and not having been intimate, the way she interacted with him had long surpassed the intimacy between friends.

As he met her gaze, Nathan Leafcastle’s face broke into a smile.

Their eyes met, and Sally Dalton’s eyes were full of deep feeling.

Her long lashes lowered gently, and her face tilted slightly up towards him.

Knowing she wanted him to kiss her, Nathan Leafcastle bent slightly, approaching her lips little by little. Just as he was about to kiss her, his face froze in mid-air.

Suddenly transitioning from friends to lovers made him somewhat uncomfortable with such intimacy.

After a moment of hesitation, he lightly pecked her cheek and then straightened up.

"I’ll help you heat up the soup."

Not receiving his kiss, Sally Dalton felt a slight disappointment. Watching him pick up the tray, she quickly approached.

"No need, you go ahead with your work. I’ll heat it up myself."

Nathan Leafcastle raised his hand to avoid her palm.

"Wait."

Feeling guilty towards her, he just wanted to treat her better as compensation, to ease his mind a bit.

Sally Dalton smiled, "Alright then!"

He went downstairs to heat the soup for her, and Sally Dalton noticed the scattered documents on his desk and walked over to tidy them.

Seeing the stack of documents, she raised an eyebrow quizzically, picked them up, and started flipping through them.

"Deer Island Project?" she read the name softly and muttered to herself, "Does the company have such a project recently?"

In the past few days, she was preparing to work at the Barker Group in Nicosa, in the position of Nathan Leafcastle’s assistant.

She had made this decision after serious consideration.

If she were really to start as a junior employee, it wouldn’t be easy to truly learn something.

Publicly, being by Nathan Leafcastle’s side would allow her to better understand the company’s various developments and facilitate communication with other departments. Moreover, she could learn management skills from him.

Privately, working with him had always been something she longed for.

As his assistant, looking at his documents shouldn’t be an issue, especially since Barker Group was originally a Dalton Family company.

Sally Dalton curiously flipped through the documents in her hand and soon saw the date on them—it was a project from last year.

Deer Island?

She frowned slightly.

The name seemed somewhat familiar, as if she’d heard it somewhere before.

With curiosity, she continued reading and soon saw the detailed information about the project—it was an island in Singapore.

The soft sound of footsteps came as Nathan Leafcastle walked in with the heated soup.

"Sally, come over and drink it while it’s hot!"

Seeing her flipping through his documents, Nathan Leafcastle raised his eyebrows slightly.

"Nathan?" Sally Dalton turned to look at him, "Why are you looking into this information?"

"I..."

Nathan Leafcastle was at a loss for words.

"If I’m not mistaken!" Sally Dalton turned another page, "This Deer Island Project should be from last year, right?!"
