I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 474 - 472: I Have Loved You for Six Years (6)
It’s still raining outside, the ground is wet and slippery, Vera Wave couldn’t possibly let Grandma Wave go by herself.
Taking the umbrella handed over by Sister Feng, she stepped out of the living room, walked step by step through the courtyard, until she stood in front of Kris Cooper.
She moved the umbrella forward, shielding it over his head.
Kris Cooper sat there without speaking, just silently exhaling a mouthful of smoke.
The blue smoke rose, stinging her throat and eyes. Vera squinted her eyes and coughed lightly a couple of times.
Hearing her cough, the man frowned, threw the still half-burnt cigarette on the ground, and crushed it with force using his foot.
She bit her lip, swallowed, and softly spoke.
"Shall we go inside?"
Kris Cooper raised his face from the steps, his amber eyes fixedly staring into hers.
"Are you still leaving?"
She took a deep breath, looked away, and fixed her gaze on a small blade of grass shaking in the wind and rain by the door.
"Let’s go inside and talk, okay?"
The man’s hands clasped over his knees suddenly tightened, the knuckles crackling from the excessive force.
"Since you insist on leaving, why do you still care about me?"
"Can’t you stop being so willful? At this rate, your body can’t take it!"
"I want to!"
Looking at his darkened face, Vera bent down, carefully placing the umbrella on the step behind him, sheltering him from the rain, and then slowly straightened up.
"I’m sorry."
After speaking, she bit her lip and turned around.
Bang!
The umbrella was smashed out by his punch, landing on the grassland by the door.
For a moment, she nearly couldn’t control herself, and wanted to turn around and embrace him.
No!
Vera, you can’t go on like this, in the end, both of you will be in pain.
Better a short pain than a long one.
If you truly love him, you should make him face reality. You’re not that girl, you can’t give him the love he wants.
Clenching her fist, she walked forward step by step, her nails deeply piercing into her palm, using the pain to remind herself to stay awake.
Returning to the living room, she took the raincoat she found from the backyard and walked up to Grandma Wave.
"Grandma, shall we go?"
"Go?" Grandma Wave looked confused, "Where to?"
"Let’s go for a walk!"
"This child, what are we walking for in the rain? Wait until tomorrow." Grandma Wave said, getting up from the sofa, "Where is Kendrick, why isn’t he making dinner yet?"
"I will!" Sister Feng spoke up quickly, "Grandma, please wait, dinner will be ready soon."
"Alright." Grandma Wave responded, her gaze passing through the hall to look at Kris Cooper, "Why is he still outside?"
"He... he doesn’t want to come in." Vera said softly.
"This child, really stubborn." Grandma Wave shook her head, turned to grab a piece of cotton candy, and handed it to Vera, "Here, give it to him and cheer him up."
"Grandma." Vera looked in distress at the cotton candy in her hand, "This doesn’t work, he doesn’t want to eat candy."
"Then what does he want, can’t you give it to him?"
Vera’s eyes became hot again, "Grandma, the thing he wants, I don’t have it!"
Grandma Wave sighed.
Sister Li, seeing this, quickly walked over, "Weren’t you hungry? I’ll take it to the dining room first, and we’ll talk after dinner."
By now, everyone could see that as long as Grandma Wave did not leave, Vera couldn’t leave either, so both Sister Feng and Sister Li were doing their best to persuade her to stay.
