I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 409 - 408: The Girl from Six Years Ago (12)
"Mr. Cooper, let’s talk this out. Please, let go! Irene... she can’t take it anymore!"
"HUMPH!"
Kris Cooper snorted and loosened his fingers from Irene Spencer’s neck. Irene immediately began to cough violently.
Anabel Wilton quickly helped her aside and patted her back.
"Irene Spencer," Kris Cooper said, turning to her in the corridor. "Stay away from Vera, and stop using such despicable tactics. This is my final warning. You’d better heed it!"
With that, he turned and stormed out the door.
BANG!
The door slammed shut, the heavy thud making their hearts pound. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Irene shivered again in fright. Anabel glanced in the direction he had left, then turned her gaze back to Irene.
"Irene, what on earth happened?"
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Irene sat on the couch and rubbed her aching neck, not saying a word.
"Could it be..." Anabel moved closer and whispered, "He found out about that news incident?"
Anabel’s words sparked a realization in Irene. Yesterday, when I secretly eavesdropped, I didn’t hear Vera mentioning me. Kris Cooper shouldn’t know about it. That’s why I was wondering why Kris Cooper was so angry with me.
Now it seems certain that Kris Cooper found out about the news incident.
Realizing this, she lunged forward and grabbed Anabel’s collar.
"What happened?! Didn’t I tell you to be more careful? How did Kris find out?"
"I..." Anabel was completely bewildered. "I have no idea how this could have happened! Those photos were only on my phone. I sent them to those journalists’ email addresses using a throwaway account. It should have been impossible to trace it back to me! Unless... someone tampered with my phone? But that’s not possible either; I never let it out of my sight!"
Even someone as cautious as Anabel wouldn’t have expected that a small detail from the incident at Ashton had exposed her secret.
"It must have been your email!" Irene gritted her teeth. "You idiot! Did you forget who Kris Cooper is? He’s a computer genius!"
That guy isn’t just incredibly resourceful and well-connected; he’s also a top computer expert! With his capabilities, tracing the source of that news wouldn’t be surprising in the least. And as for the email, cracking it with his skills would be trivially easy.
"This..."
Anabel was speechless.
I thought that registering a throwaway account would definitely keep my identity hidden.
Who knew I’d run into a computer genius like Kris Cooper?
"You imbecile! You utter fool!" Irene jabbed a finger at Anabel’s nose, furious, wishing she could slap her senseless. "This is all your fault! All your fault! The wonderful image I’ve carefully maintained in front of Kris Cooper for so long—you’ve completely destroyed it!"
"Ir... Irene, I... I’m so sorry!" Anabel stammered apologetically. "I... I never thought it would turn out like this..."
"Shut up!" Irene yelled, cutting her off. "No, I have to think of a way to turn this situation around."
Arms crossed, she paced back and forth in the room.
After a moment, she stopped pacing, her gaze landing on Anabel.
She quickly walked back to her and put her hands on Anabel Wilton’s shoulders.
"Lucy Clark, you absolutely have to help me this time!"
"Me?" Anabel Wilton looked up, puzzled. "What do you mean?"
"You need to take the blame for this whole affair and clear my name."

Sending out these red packets is going to be the death of me. I won’t split up the third one, so everyone search carefully, Haha!
