I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 335: The Brute Advertisement

"Wait. How could that be? I vividly remember there was a bridge." Bas scratched his head.

"Just like how there is no bridge at all in the real world. Profunda is a fickle place. It can be treated like a real living organism. The place could potentially be working with the skinwalker to fool you." Siderius explained calmly.

"What is even a skinwalker?" Bas said.

"Right. You don't know about that yet." Quinlan then told Bas about what happened.

"A shape-shifting monster? Holy shit! How did you even know that wasn't me?" Bas said.

"I have a very sharp pair of eyes." Siderius said mysteriously.

"Here. Take the machete." Quinlan said.

"Hah! Finally a good weapon."

Bas swirled the machete around. It was shorter and lighter than his usual sword but it would suffice as a temporary weapon. Bas didn't like how it only had one bladed edge.

"There is a creature being held in the barn. I don't know what it is or how dangerous it is. But it is for sure a shadow creature.

It has humanoid form so its attack pattern will probably be similar to a human. However, keep your eye sharp and always expect the unexpected."

"What should I do then?" Quinlan pointed to his face.

Out of all four, he was the least combat capable. But still, he decided to accompany them on his dangerous journey.

"Unfortunately, I didn't find any other good weapons. There is a shovel near the barn though."

"A shovel is better than nothing."

The group approached the barn. The entire town was wiped clean by Siderius so the place was rather safe.

Inside the barn, they could see a humanoid shadow creature being tied down behind large wooden doors. Its entire skin was black smoke without any eyes or mouth. This thing was definitely not a corrupted villager. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Quinlan stood the furthest near the entrance.

Bas approached the wooden doors.

Siderius stood in the opposite of the doors, facing the creature head on.

Ashe stood slightly to the side and a bit farther away. The crossbow raised accordingly.

Siderius nodded to Bas.

Bas took a deep breath then smacked open the lock of the wooden doors. He kicked them open.

The humanoid creature revealed itself.

It was much bigger than any human could be. Its size was even bigger than Siderius, a man that reaching two meters tall.

Bas stepped back slowly. "This thing must be at least 2.5 meters."

"Ready your power, Bas." Siderius whispered.

"Half way there already."

Bas clenched the machete tightly. His eyes lit up in white and the blade became brighter.

The shadow brute broke the chains and cuffs on its body. Then it lowered its body down. A large curved blade appeared in his hand.

It dashed forward, turning into a strip of shadow and lunged at Bas.

Siderius disappeared, leaving a gust of wind behind.

"Wait for me!" Bas widened his eyes. He wasn't that fast.

The shadow brute slammed onto him. Bas's spirit machete slammed with the purple curved blade. Dark veins spread on the white illuminating spirit machete.

"What is this?!"

Veins climbed onto Bas's hands but he forced them out with his will. Then Bas redirected the purple blade, opening the brute up.

The bodyguard sliced at the shadow brute, cutting out a large smoke running along its body.

Siderius got behind it. The Silver Hawk appeared on his back. He grabbed it and slashed it down in one motion, creating another long wound on the back of the shadow creature.

The creature growled. It spun in place and extended the purple blade. The shadow creature turned into a small vortex that cut anything near it.

Siderius and Bas hopped backwards, getting out of its attack.

"Phew! This thing is not weak." Bas said.

The creature stopped spinning and reached out his other free hand to Bas. The shadow hand reached out and turned into tentacles. Their speed was so great that Bas wasn't able to dodge it.

The tentacles wrapped around him tightly.

Ashe pulled the trigger and shot the crossbow bolt at the shadow creature's face.

It hit. But it did nothing. The arrow was slowly being absorbed into the shadow creature and shot back out at its chest.

Ashe rolled away just in time as the bolt pierced through the wooden wall behind her.

"Anti projectile ability?" Ashe mumbled.

"Help..." Bas uttered. The tentacles squeezed harder, causing him pain.

Siderius jumped up and delivered a blow straight down from above, cutting the tentacles in one strike. His silver bracer appeared as he drew <Piryo> in the air.

The wave of fire washed over the shadow creature.

It worked. The sulfur flame caused the shadow creature to shriek and stumble around in panic.

Ashe quickly reloaded her crossbow and shot at the shadow creature while it was distracted. The creature wasn't able to repulse the bolt this time. The bolt stuck on its body while white blood leaking out from its skin.

Bas charged at the creature and bashed his shoulder onto its flaming body, pushing it onto the ground. He swung the machete repeatedly at it to cut it further.

The shadow creature rolled backwards, trying to extinguish the fire and avoid Bas's attacks at the same time.

Siderius ran around Bas and kicked the head of the shadow creature. This caused it to be in a daze.

"Nice kick! Hahaha!" Bas laughed out loud. Siderius' kick allowed him to cut the shadow creature a few times.

The shadow creature curled into a ball, trying to protect itself.

"I thought you were dangerous? Why are you looking like a coward now?" Bas laughed even more.

"This guy..." Siderius stared at the bodyguard lightly.

The skin on the shadow creature bubbled like boiling water. Siderius quickly jumped back.

Bas also recognized that but it was a little late. Tentacles shot out from its body to the surroundings.

It couldn't reach Siderius because he was far away. But it reached Bas perfectly.

A few tentacles pierced through Bas flesh. Red blood leaked out.

The shadow creature rushed out of the door. Quinlan was there to wait for it.

He poured all the strength into one single strike and slammed the shovel into the shadow creature's face.
